Metro Police are working to identify the suspect who attacked a 62-year-old man Tuesday night outside Green Hills mall.

Police say Robert H. DeMoss Jr., who is in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center, was known to walk inside Green Hills Mall at various times nearly every day.

On Tuesday, police say he parked his 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis in the back of the open air second story lot of the Dillard’s parking garage. A witness said DeMoss was attacked near several vehicles that were parked close to the Dillard’s entrance, according to police.

Detectives say they have not determined a motive for the assault.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s with brown hair who is approximately six feet tall and who weighs approximately 215 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information concerning the assault is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or West Precinct Investigations at 862-7385.
