A former Franklin church youth group leader surrendered to police Monday morning following her indictment on sex charges involving a minor.
A Franklin police investigation led to Monica Rex, 30, being indicted on four counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, two counts of aggravated statutory rape, exploitation of a minor by electronic means, solicitation to commit aggravated statutory rape and solicitation to commit sexual battery by an authority figure.
Rex was booked into the Williamson County jail Monday morning. Her bond was set at $25,000, but no initial court appearance had yet been set.
According to Franklin Police, the investigation began after police received information that Rex might have had “an inappropriate relationship” with a minor that began in approximately August 2009. The minor was a member of the youth group Rex helped lead.
