Police charge man with auto burglary, credit card fraud

Following a tip from Crime Stoppers, Metro police arrested a man they said used stolen credit cards at businesses around Nolensville Pike and Thompson Lane.

Police believe Mike Bennett, 29, broke into a woman’s car outside of the Waffle House at 618 Harding Pike, stole her purse and later used her credit cards for a brief shopping spree.

Bennett was charged Thursday night with burglary of a motor vehicle, five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and three counts of theft.

Bennett is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond, and has previous convictions for kidnapping, domestic assault and child neglect.
