Police ID body found in north Nashville street

Police identified the man found dead on Artic Avenue in north Nashville early Tuesday as Tommy Lee Perkins.

Perkins, 48, was beaten to death after a reported argument in his room at the Ravin Motel at 1360 Brick Church Pike, where he had been living. A group of people walking by discovered Perkins’ body in the street at 1:30 Tuesday morning.

According to police, Perkins' arrest history involves 52 offenses over 18 years, including a 2002 felony cocaine conviction in Nashville and felony burglary convictions in Shelby County in 1994.

Police urge anyone with information regarding Perkins’ death to call 862-7901 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

A sad ending to a life. I wish a documentary of his life could be made and shown in the schools to include his first arrest to his death. maybe it would help change even just one kids life.

The end of a life . I wish a documentary of his life would be done. to include his 52 arrests and ultimate death and shown in every metro school. if it changed just one kids life it would be worth it.
