Metro Police have identified the woman killed in a house fire Monday morning in East Nashville.
Carla Thomas, 47, was found covered in a blanket in a bathroom at 2105 Pontotoc Avenue.
Fire officials said they did not find the body on their first search because thick, black smoke filled the house. They believe the fire broke out in the living room of the house that sustained only minor damage.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Foul play is not suspected, although Thomas’ death will not be classified until an autopsy is complete.
