Metro police have identified the pedestrian fatally injured Thursday night at the intersection of Colice Jeanne Road and Highway 70 South in Bellevue as Patricia Sharpe, 60, of Meadow Lane Drive.
Sharpe was at the intersection hanging yard sale signs around 10:45 p.m. Thursday. As she crossed Highway 70 South in the crosswalk, she was struck by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Cameron Clark, of Burns.
The police investigation so far indicates that a failure to yield by Sharpe may have led to the incident, according to a release from Metro police.
Police said Clark told them that when he approached the intersection, a pickup truck stopped on the shoulder of Highway 70 caught his attention and when he looked back in front of him, he saw Sharpe walk into his path.
Clark said he didn’t have time to avoid the collision. Sharpe died at the scene.
There is no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement. The investigation is continuing. No charges have been placed.
