Staff reports

Police have identified Marc Pullo III, whose body was discovered down an embankment off of Harding Place Monday morning, as the victim of an apparent fatal hit-and-run that occurred overnight.

The incident happened near Tampa Drive, and investigators believe Pullo, 35, was walking east on Harding Place on the south side of the road when a vehicle hit him, throwing him over the guardrail and down into a wooded area.

Someone reported seeing Pullo’s body at 10 a.m. Monday.

According to police, Pullo was living at the Executive Inn on Harding Place when he reportedly left late Sunday night to walk to the Wal-Mart at Nolensville Pike and Harding Place.

Based on evidence at the crash scene detectives believe the suspect vehicle may be red or brown and have damage to the right front and passenger side.

Police urge anyone with information about the vehicle, the driver or the incident to call fatal crash investigators at 862-7738 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

This is sad & my sympathy to his family. Hope they find the snake that can hit someone & just leave them there. He possibly could have been saved, if they had stopped.

While Mayor Karl Dean 'Envisions' a West End Bus Corridor 'for people that don't even use the bus'. Folks are getting killed for walking on Harding.

I see it everyday. Children, old people, young people, and just about anybody without a car, walking along Harding between 65 and 24 on Harding Road. These are poor people without a sidewalk, walking to a store, crossing the street and just going somewhere. But because this is Robert Duvall's district, Dean does absolutely nothing.

There are no sidewalks or bus terminations for the poorest of the poor. For the people that need it the most, this city provides the very least. Marc Pullo may as well have been hit by the mayor and his cronies because there has been absolutely no effort made to make pedestrian traffic safe on Harding Road in Anitoch because they absolutely don't care. RIP Marc Pullo, I hope your family sues the city of Nashville for being inept, incompetent and ultimately negligent.

But by God, let's make sure that the Belle Meade Crowd can glide into the Vanderbilt and Titan stadium without a scratch or a DUI

Citizen, I resent your statement about the Belle Meade crowd and some perceived BS that somehow West End people don't care! Then you throw in Vanderbilt, one of the largest employers in Nashville! You are very foolish and demeaning and need to get a life or at least a better education!! A long time Belle Meade resident, Harding place, especially at or near Nolensville Road is the 2nd highest traveled intersection in Nashville. Speed of motorists sometimes exceeds safety....Hit and run is never an acceptable issue anywhere much less in Nashville. East to west or reverse has always been an issue in Nashville with many of the roads outdated....

Terri Cole
As I was at the cemetery on 09/10 observing the 4tth anniversary of my son's death (he was killed in a motorcycle accident in which a man in a pickup truck illegally crossed the median and struck him head on), I received a phone call from my mother who was Marc's great Aunt. She told me the news of my cousin's untimely death and how he was found on the side of the road, apparently a victim of a hit and run accident. His father is like a brother to me. When we were growing up, we spent every summer together. Emotions ran high for me as I thought of my own son's death and how I wasn't notified for hours afterward. Bur at least I was informed of who hit him and how it happened. Marc leaves behind young children, a sister, and parents who are shocked and devastated. Whoever this coward is, I hope he/she is found so they can have closure. As a nurse, I cannot imagine hitting someone and not stopping to see if that person is okay. Marc was a person, not a deer or some kind of animal to be left like road kill. I can only pray for the person to come forward or be identified. In the meantime, Larry, Carol, I truly am here for you and if there is anything I can do, even just listen, get in touch.
