Metro police have identified the man shot and killed in Monday afternoon’s gun battle as 33-year-old Clarence Claybrooks.

Another man who was shot in the chest has been identified as Corey L. Smith, 26, and not Jermaine Baldwin as initially reported by police, who said Smith allegedly provided investigators a false name. Smith, of South Seventh Street, was wanted on a probation violation.

Claybrooks, of 40th Avenue North, was found dead in a yard in the 3000 block of Albion Street beside what police called an assault-type rifle. He has past convictions on aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, attempted second-degree murder and cocaine possession for resale.

Police said Jermaine Baldwin was not involved in Monday’s shooting.

That's sick! Too bad they didn't have to id all of them as they hauled the bodies off.
