Police identify victim of fatal shooting at Nashboro Village

Metro police have identified the early Thursday morning fatal shooting victim at Nashboro Village Apartments as 18-year-old Avery Hernandez.

Responding to a shots fired call at 1:30 a.m., police found Hernandez, of Steamboat Court, slumped over the steering wheel of a Mercury Marquis in the 300 block of Village Green.

According to Metro police, Hernandez was on probation following a March conviction. He was arrested in January for marijuana possession.

As of Thursday afternoon, Hermitage Precinct detectives were still working to determine a motive in the shooting.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the murder of Hernandez to call Hermitage Precinct Investigations at 862-6993 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

Another life taken by a thug with a gun. Wake up Legislators , I am sure the perps are more than likely gun toting felons to begin with. Why does this have to keep happening? I am pretty sure early release or no time served needs to be addressed further.
As the mother of a murdered son in Antioch when will it ever end ? My heart goes out to this young man's family.
