Metro police arrested a parolee Thursday whom they suspect is the serial burglar behind at least four break-ins at businesses last month.
Police stopped 42-year-old Henry Edmondson on Brick Church Pike Thursday afternoon while he drove a Ford Taurus matching the vehicle description in the four break-ins.
In each case, police said the burglar smashed a glass entranceway to get in. In a break-in at a Thompson Lane Mapco at 4:30 Wednesday morning, police said Edmondson, of Drakes Branch Road, backed the Taurus into the front door, breaking the passenger-side taillight.
When they stopped Edmondson Thursday, police said they found broken glass, gloves, drug paraphernalia and items stolen from the businesses. The Taurus Edmondson drove also had a broken passenger-side taillight.
Police continue to investigate whether Edmondson was involved in any other recent burglaries. Edmondson was sentenced to 20 years for a 2006 carjacking conviction but was out on parole by February, according to police. Edmondson has been arrested 39 times since 1987.
Aside from the Mapco break-in, Edmondson is suspected in burglarizing the Dollar General Store at 415 West Trinity Lane, Daily’s at 5315 Harding Pike and Royal Discount Tobacco & Beer at 3843 Dickerson Pike.
