The man who police sought for questioning regarding an apparent drug deal they said ended in a fatal shooting Sunday night met with detectives Tuesday.
Police said Torrey Jackson, 21, was at the scene Sunday night when William Black was fatally shot on Zermatt Avenue during a marijuana deal. Jackson went to the South Precinct Tuesday afternoon and answered detectives’ questions before he was released, according to police.
On Monday, Metro police stated that Black, 26, drove to a home on Zermatt Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday to buy marijuana, but an argument over the deal allegedly occurred inside his vehicle, leading to shots being fired.
Police weren’t sure if a struggle over a gun may have led to the shooting or if another gun was involved, but they believe Black may have been armed when he arrived. When police arrived at the scene, they said a bag of marijuana was visible in Black’s car.
Detectives said Jackson had been at the scene but was gone when police arrived. He had been sought for questioning since Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the shooting can call South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
