Metro police are requesting the public’s help in identifying a man who tried to rob an Elm Hill Pike hotel last Wednesday.

Hermitage Precinct detectives are looking for a 6-foot-tall black man in his late 20s or early 30s, weighing about 220 pounds and sporting a clean-shaven head.

Police said the man asked a clerk at the Comfort Inn & Suites at 2615 Elm Hill Pike for directions to another hotel before jumping over the counter, apparently armed with a handgun.

When the clerk ran away, the man ran out of the hotel empty-handed and escaped in a white sedan that police believe might have been a Chrysler.

Anyone with information regarding the crime can call Hermitage Precinct detectives at 862-6993 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com
