Metro Police are searching for the boyfriend of a woman found dead Wednesday in a Bellevue hotel.

Housekeeping staff found Wendy McKinney, 46, of Dickson, dead in a guest room bathroom at the Hampton Inn at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. Police said she suffered trauma to her head.

Her boyfriend William “Billy” Brown Troope, 50, who has a history of domestic violence involving McKinney, rented the hotel room at 7:40 p.m. Monday using only his first and middle names, Metro Police said.

Police say surveillance footage shows that he left the motel at 11:58 p.m. Monday. His car returned to the parking lot in the early morning hours of Tuesday, but he apparently did not go back inside.

A relative reported McKinney, an employee of the Publix on Highway 70 and Sawyer Brown Road, as a missing person Tuesday.

Troope, who may have fled the Middle Tennessee area, worked for the Golf Club in Cheatham County. Police say he listed Hart Lane in East Nashville as his address on his state-issued identification card from March of this year.

He is believed to be driving a turquoise 1994 Ford Crown Victoria bearing Tennessee license plate 873-TJT.

Anyone seeing him or knowing his whereabouts is urged to immediately contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or their local law enforcement agency.
