With salary cap, NFL is winning

Professional football, like its baseball, basketball and hockey counterparts, is a business. However, it is a better business than its cousins because of the salary cap, a self-imposed control that was implemented by the owners to temper runaway spending on valuable players.

Call it luck or great planning, but Nashville has two of the best-run professional leagues in town in its football and hockey franchises.
