Sawyers defends actions in case against two officers

The head of the Office of Professional Accountability, Kennetha Sawyers, defended herself Monday against a complaint that alleges she knowingly presented false evidence and tampered with a witness in the 22-month Ivy Wood investigation.

Sawyers, an attorney, has been investigating Metro officers Mike Mann and Jason Beddoe for allegedly abusing Hispanic residents of the Ivy Wood apartment complex in 1999. The two have been disempowered for almost two years and have been working desk jobs.
