Police believe passengers injured in a single-vehicle wreck late Sunday night weren’t wearing their seat belts.

Two of the six passengers were seriously injured when 25-year-old Robin Taylor lost control of a Cadillac Escalade during a heavy downpour around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle hit a guardrail and a utility pole before turning over on Interstate 65 northbound near Wedgewood Avenue.

Police said Taylor and rear passenger Dionna Collins, 28, were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Taylor was in critical condition. Collins was treated and released.

Kayla Davis, 13, was in stable condition at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital after she suffered a severe cut to her arm. Davis’ twin sister Kandis along with Dyquan Collins, 11, and Dion Collins, 8, were treated and released.

One of the passengers reportedly told police that no one wore a seat belt at the time of the accident.
