Stratford Comprehensive High School in East Nashville has been awarded a $15,000 planning grant from the Tennessee Department of Education and Education Edge. The grant will be used to prepare an application for the $100,000 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which officials say would go a long way toward improving the school. Stratford was one of 10 schools selected from applications across the state.

Stratford principal Nancy Dil said the seed money will go towards staff development and a written plan for the Baldrige Award. Baldrige officials rely heavily on the application to determine which schools will get the award money.
