A concept designed to bring together diverse parts of the community will begin a new set of meetings on Monday.

Called study circles, the groups meet for five weeks to discuss public issues like race relations, education, crime and neighborhood concerns.

Cliff Cockerhem, director of development at the Scarritt-Bennett Center and also an active member of the Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association, said the study groups have increased dialogue in his neighborhood since he joined one in 1999.
