A suspected serial robber is in custody after allegedly starting a crime spree that began in February.

Metro police said East Precinct Field Training Officer Greg Lyons Wednesday night arrested Thomas Carrico, Jr., 30, after spotting a white pickup truck matching the description of the robbery suspect’s vehicle and sending the license number to East Precinct detectives. The truck is registered to Carrico, who lives in Hendersonville.

During interviews Wednesday night in Hendersonville, police said Carrico admitted to three robberies in Davidson County: Feb. 14 at Sonic, 398 Harding Place; April 5 at US Tobacco & Beer, 1997 Nolensville Pike; and April 16 at Gulf gas station, 834 Porter Road.

Police said Carrico also admitted to committing two additional commercial robberies, one in Goodlettsville and one in Sumner County.

Carrico was booked into the Sumner County jail Wednesday night. Arrest warrants charging him with three counts of aggravated robbery have been issued in Davidson County. Carrico is suspected in additional robberies and the investigation continues.
