TBI adds suspected rapist to Top 10 Most Wanted list

A man accused of raping three women at his houseboat on Old Hickory Lake has been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Hendersonville Police are searching for Payam Zanjanipour, 36, a man known as Mario to the folks at Drakes Creek Marina, where his boat is docked and where the alleged rapes occurred.

The victims in each of the incidents described the same scenario: They were drinking, felt very intoxicated after only one or two drinks as if they had been drugged, and then they were raped in a bedroom.

All three incidents allegedly took place in the summer of 2008, police said.

Zanjanipour’s last known address was a condo in the tony Viridian on Church Street in Nashville.

Police describe Zanjanipour as a white male weighing approximately 240 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes.

He has a criminal history from 1999 when he was arrested by the Metro Nashville Police Department for possessing methamphetamine with intent to resell.
