A 19-year-old faces aggravated assault and reckless driving charges after allegedly shooting a BB handgun at three people sitting on a bus bench early Tuesday morning.
Police allege Jonathan Polk fired shots from his car at Jessica Doyle, 25, Cynthia Maciaz, 40, and James Knight, 49, who sat across the street from a convenience store at 701 Dickerson Pike. The three victims told police they recognized Polk from a recent incident in which he allegedly took Doyle’s cell phone.
Police spotted Polk after he drove by the scene while an officer was interviewing the victims. When Polk saw the patrol car, according to police, he sped away, ran a stop sign and crashed into an SUV. No one sustained serious injuries.
Polk, of Joseph Avenue, was then taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving and driving without a license. He was being held in lieu of $56,000 bond.
All three victims were struck by BBs but refused medical treatment, police said.
