The 18-year-old driver who crashed into a mowing tractor in Hermitage last month, killing his 13-year-old passenger, will face charges Nashville when he's released from jail in Hamilton County.

Jonathan L. Flippo was arrested over the weekend in Chattanooga on charges of vandalism and evading arrest. He is wanted in Nashville on charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, failure to report an accident, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In the June 23 crash, Jessica Burkhart, of Chattanooga, a rear seat passenger in the Dodge Stratus, was killed when the car crashed into a John Deere tractor on the shoulder of Lebanon Pike near the intersection with Central Pike.

Flippo allegedly fled the scene to a nearby apartment complex but later returned to the scene.

He and two other passengers were subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.
