Update: The planned closure of the the 216A exit on Interstate 40 has been rescheduled from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday due to inclement weather.

Travelers heading to Nashville International Airport on Tuesday and Wednesday should likely allow a little extra time to get to the terminal.

The exit ramp Interstate 40 east (216A) that provides direct access to the airport will be closed from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday.

All traffic from the west must use the Donelson Pike South exit (216B.) Exits from the terminal will remain open.

In addition to the temporary exit closure, lane closures are planned throughout Tuesday and Wednesday for Ring Road.

One or two left lanes just past the exit toll plaza on Ring Road to be closed for the majority of the day Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Wednesday, Oct. 7. Work is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. each day.

The construction is part of a massive Terminal Access Roadway Improvement designed to improve traffic flow on the one-way road that surrounds the airport. Phase I of the project is expected to be completed later this month.
