A police response to a domestic disturbance Sunday turned up a suspect wanted in Virginia on child rape charges.

Metro police arrested Vayron Villeda, 39, Sunday after his common-law wife reported a domestic dispute, said police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford. Villeda was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant after he failed to appear in court on a patronizing prostitution citation from last year.

Mumford said Villeda was arrested at 960 44th Ave. North, where he’d been staying. During processing, police found that Villeda was a fugitive, wanted on the felony charges in Virginia.

Metro police were waiting to hear more from officials in Virginia, Mumford said, but Villeda would likely be extradited soon to face the charges against him in that state.
