Vote tonight on historic status of Eakin-Cavert

The Metro Council will take a final vote tonight on whether to apply a historic landmark overlay to the Eakin and Cavert school buildings in the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood.

Sponsored by District 18 Councilwoman Ginger Hausser, the bill would create a level of protection for the two pre-World War II structures, both of which comprise Eakin Elementary School. The action would make their demolition more difficult than if there were no overlay in place.
