Several major airlines have notified officials at Nashville International Airport that they are proactively canceling flights to East Coast cities on Friday and Saturday.

American, American Eagle, Continental, Southwest, and US Airways said they made the decision due to anticipated snow along the East Coast.

Cities impacted include but are not limited to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Newark.

Airport officials encourage all passengers to contact their airline about flight status for flights scheduled over the weekend.
