Woman who hit and killed wrecker driver faces vehicular homicide

Friday, June 18, 2010 at 4:59pm

A grand jury brought formal charges this week against a woman accused of driving drunk and killing a tow truck driver on Interstate 40 in October.

The indictment charged Katrina Cornwell, 35, with one count of vehicular homicide by intoxication, leaving the scene of an accident involving a death and violating the state’s implied consent law.

On Oct. 22, witnesses told police Cornwell’s white Toyota swerved along I-40 near Spence Lane before edging onto the shoulder and striking Eddy McCreery, 44, as he hooked up his daughter’s disabled car to his tow truck.

An Opry Mills Mall security guard later found Cornwell sleeping in her damaged car in the mall parking lot. According to police, Cornwell, of East Campbell Road in Madison, said she drank two glasses of wine earlier.

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Therefore I think it appropriate that Ms Cornwell be considered innocent until a judge and jury finds her guilty of vehicular homicide and even worse stupidity (two glasses of wine, my "burro"). At that point it seems appropriate to hope that the sentencing judge hit Ms Cornwell with the maximum. If the woman's attorney asks for a plea bargain I hope that the prosecutor and judge hold out for at least an 80% time to serve agreement.

"Innocent until proven guilty" went out of fashion with the 8 track tape.
Yoday we have surveillence cameras, eye witness reports, BAC's, etc.
The time this waste of a human gets to trial, she'll have sobered up, cut her hair, got a new job and car. And a father is dead. All I need to know was the condition of her car (blood that matched the deceased and paint from the tow truck on it). CSI stuff. And her BAC hours after the accident. PERIOD.

Well dargent7, I can confirm my friends dna, blood, and body parts were splattered onto this "piece of craps" car when she was found passed out in it at opry mills. She is GUILTY and was guilty 2 seconds after she killed him and DIDNT STOP TO CHECK ON HIM. Regardless what the law says or people think, this "piece of crap" is guilty and has DESTROYED A FAMILY. I hope she has dealt with 1/10 of what Eddys family has since his death. There are so many issues that arise after a senseless death such as this and this "piece of crap" bonded out of jail in 6 hours and has been "scottfree" ever since. I know justice will not be served in this life because some bleeding heart judge will give her a break, or some smooth talking lawyer will work a plea, or "we dont have room for her in jail" so lets give her probation, but I pray that one day she be held accountable for this "senseless tragedy" and justice will be served. I do not wish bad things on people, but when you screw up YOU MUST PAY THE CONSEQUENCES and in this case, SHE SCREWED UP BADDDDD. SHE DIDNT MAKE A MISTAKE. MISTAKES ARE ACCIDENTS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. PLEASE PRAY FOR EDDYS FAMILY (THEY DIDNT MAKE A MISTAKE) LET HER PRAY FOR HERSELF.
