Burch: Misrepresenting Muslims

Tennessee Republicans like state Sen. Bill Ketron and state Rep. Judd Matheny seem intent on returning us to the Dark Ages by tossing freedom of religion out the window.

Ketron, R-Murfreesboro, and Matheny, R-Tullahoma, recently introduced a bill comprised of 20 pages of hysterical gobbledygook that attempts to define and outlaw “Shariah law” in a way that would bring religious practices under the scrutiny and purview of the state attorney general.

The bill starts off sounding like Chicken Little crying, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” Its first numbered point reads as follows: “The threat from terrorism continues to plague the United States generally and Tennessee in particular.”

But where is there any evidence that Tennessee is more plagued by terrorism than other states? Muslims have lived in Tennessee for more than a century, and to my knowledge there has never been a major act of Muslim terrorism committed here. There have, however, been many acts of terrorism committed by white Christians against blacks, Jews and other minorities. We never had a bill to outlaw Biblical laws, so why outlaw Koranic laws?

The bill attempts to condemn Shariah without identifying what it is, except in broadly sweeping —and broadly damning — terms. But in reality, Shariah law had its genesis in Mosaic law. Americans are right to cringe when they hear that Muslim girls have been stoned to death for being raped, but this was the express commandment of Moses in Deuteronomy 22. Should we outlaw Judaism and Christianity because Bible verses command the murder of girls for having sex or boys for being “stubborn”? No, because we have secular laws designed to keep anyone from taking the law into their own hands.

We don’t need anti-Shariah laws, for at least three reasons.

First, we already have penalties in place to protect ourselves from people who break the law of the land, commit treason or attempt to overthrow our democratically elected government, so there is no need to single out any religion for special attention.

Second, most American Muslims are not extremists and don’t subscribe to the beliefs of the extremists.

And third, we live in a democracy where only a small percentage of the voters are Muslim, so there is absolutely no danger that our laws will suddenly change dramatically without our consent.

The bill introduced by Ketron and Matheny is driven by hysteria, stupidity and bigotry — and is beneath the contempt of all freedom-loving Tennesseans.

This a story written by Rick Mathes, who is a well known leader in prison ministry.

"The man who walks with God always gets to his destination. if you have a pulse you have a purpose.

"The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!

"Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who each explained their beliefs.

"I was particularly interested in what the Islamic had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

"After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked; 'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?

"There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, 'Non-believers!' I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight,. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith, so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?' The expression on his face
changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'

"I then stated,'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine The Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'

"The Muslim was speechless!

"I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question: Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and he wants you to be there with me?' You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

"Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslim beliefs

"In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President!

"I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized!"

Following up on that article; we may already have one in the White House, basing that statement on a remark he made in an interview, and by a statement made by an Egyptian Ambassador following a conversation with Barack Obama.

Sometimes it is hard to realize what is 'coming in the back door' of our nation. We better be prepared to lock it.

Again, I repeat, America is a Christian Nation. All those opposed, move to Russia or Yemen.

Yogi, you have been had. That story has been debunked.

Here is a link to a site that exposes the truth behind the pastor's BS:

Here is a snippet from that reliable source, it tends to shed considerable doubt on the story:

"Analysis: The above text, circulating via email since September 2003, was indeed written by Rick Mathes, executive director of Mission Gate Prison Ministry in Chesterfield, Missouri. In subsequent statements on the ministry's website Mathes affirmed that the incident took place exactly as he described it in the article.

However, a different version of events was reported in an article by Greg Kearney of the Lee News Service in which a spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Corrections, which sponsored the training session, stated that the "imam" Mathes refers to above was a prison inmate and ordinary Muslim, not a trained cleric, and that although the inmate did answer various questions about his faith to the best of his ability, the issues of jihad and violence against non-believers were neither raised nor discussed during the exchange." (end of snippet)

Yogi, if the "Imam" was actually a Muslim inmate, not a Muslim cleric,
then Pastor Mathes has bore false witness, while acting in the capacity of a Christian cleric. They call that, "heresy". It's also called, "lying" and engaging in "deception"..

It appears that Pastor Mathes is a liar and an anti-Islamic bigot, stirring up hate, on a professional level. The man should confess his sins, repent and then find honest work.

Chances are probably good that Mathes has broken civil laws as well as God's laws. How ironic it would be, if the pompous pastor was convicted of fraud and jailed.

Yogi, about Obama being a covert Muslim, I posted this yesterday, I repeat it here, for your benefit. If Obama is a closet Muslim, he's sure doing a great job of faking the Judeo-Christian part. Here's the re-post:

As a presidential candidate, Senator Obama made the obligatory pilgrimage to the Wailing Wall and donned the white yarmulke to pray...all recent US Presidents have performed that same required ritual. This ritual is an act of state fealty. These theocratic spectacles reinforce the hyphens connecting Judeo-Christian and Israel-US.

Here is a link to a Jewish site that covered the story...check out the Yarmulke-wearing Obama, at the Wailing Wall, in 2008...great photos...here is the URL:

Yesterday, Dargent7, a respected NCP posting colleague, posted the following:

"Gentlemen: Who actually here in America gives a rat's behind about the jews in Israel, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Zionism, or shopping at Neiman-Marcus?"

No argument there, most Americans are ignorant and apathetic about those items that D7 listed...except for the Neiman-Marcus part.

Americans like D7 don't know and don't care. That is exactly the way it's designed to be. Pro-Israel lobbies, PAC's, think tanks, pressure groups and the Israeli government all work together to shape US public opinion on those items; millions are spent on this effort every year.

Google this alphabet soup of de facto foreign agents and learn the facts: AIPAC, JACPAC, JINSA, COPOMAJO, ADL and ZOA. There are others, but that's a good start.

Bear in mind, all the major electronic and print media are owned and operated by people who believe that Israel is the Promised Land and only the Jews are God's Chosen People. That media connection greases the skids for the Israel-related propaganda.

Of course, the ADL is there to brand all critics of this situation as being "anti-Semitic".

Dargent7 is content with the fact that Israelis are getting full US representation without paying US taxation.

And Dargent is content with Israelis calling the shots for Uncle Sam in the Middle East and elsewhere.

And although he is a professed Christian, D7 has no problem with US foreign aid going to Israel, so that its state-sponsored abortion mills can keep running at top speed.

D7 and Serr8d both have consumed mass quantities of that delicious Israeli Kosher Kool-Aid and they stand in line for another "free" refill. Oddly, they think of themselves as American patriots...it's the Kool-Aid.....there's some kind of dope in there.....I don't drink the stuff, go ahead and call me an anti-Semite for refusing to drink the brain-altering beverage.

Holy Wars Suck.

Again, I repeat, Americans who support Jewish apartheid colonialism in Palestine, should convert to Judaism, make Aliyah to Israel and join the Israeli Defense Forces.

re your 6:43 post. I have said before and may I repeat; Obama is the best damned actor and liar I have ever seen on television, bar none.

When I see him in an interview referring to John McCain not mentioning his Muslim religion, and I read in a statement of an Egyptian Ambassador stating Obama is a Muslim based on his conversation with Obama, I took it for granted both men knew what they are talking about... unless Obama was lying.

By: yogiman on 2/27/11 at 9:28

After re-reading my last post makes me think; maybe that Ambassador lying, too.
Only he knows.

I daresay that, in America, there are more places to buy Beer than there are Churches.

Does this make us an alcoholic nation?

By: luvslife51 on 3/2/11 at 8:32

Are there parts of the Shariah law you disagree with?

Also..did you vote for Obama?

By: luvslife51 on 3/3/11 at 11:43

I think that Obama needs to be made Dictator of the USA..then we would not have all these problems....Muslims would be happy...and all the immigrants would be enjoy....legalize marijuana ...just make everyone happy..-s-
