Up for Debate: Another tragic school shooting

There's been another tragic school shooting, this time in Oakland, Calif. Is there anything that can be done to help prevent or minimize the chances of such events? Is this just a reality for America, and Americans living and working in areas where many people congregate daily? Will it only get worse as those driven to commit such acts are pushed to inflict as much harm as they can, more than they've seem others do?

This could have been most likely held to just one dead if the female
administrator he came there for had not been gone at that moment!
Indications are he had been dismissed for behavior problems versus
academic although it could have been both! Language was a problem
for him as well as apparent large dose of anger and mental illness.
Apparently we have a large amount of both across the nation and growing!

In summary, Ben, yogi is trying to figure out the Founders' intent of natural born citizen by theorizing how they would have reacted to electricity.

Loner's key-note criticism of the Right-wing Republican legislature of Tennessee... it should be noted that the sponsor of the no-sag bill was Joe Towns. Joe is an African-American liberal democrat from the People's Republic of Memphis and is in no way affiliated politically with the Republican majority.

If you had a little bit of common sense, gdiafante (I'm sorry you don't have any), you would see the different ways of the people's thinking when this nation was founded.
They didn't think like you "young nuts" think today, as if the knowledge of the people of this nation hasn't changed in over two centuries.

Yogi, if you're attempting to gather information regarding their frame of mind and then apply it to modern technology, you're off base. I suggest attempting to understand their frame of mind regarding citizenship (which has nothing to do with modern technology) and how it applied to social norms at the time, then transfer that to a modern society.
Example: What would the Founders' opinion be of bi-racial heritages...or single-parent families in regards to the native born versus natural born.
In my opinion, that has more relevance than if James Madison would have been frightened by "The Clapper".

As for the school shootings... tragic. I'm not big on pro-active laws that punish the potential to do harm instead of the people who actually do harm though. That's a huge infringement on our liberty and results in a MASSIVELY oversized and overpowered justice system for us to try to navigate, negotiate, and pay homage to. I say live and let live and when some sonofabitch steps out of line like this Korean nurse did, take his crazy @$$ out so he can't do any more harm or reproduce; and as an example to other would-be crazy son's of bitches who might thing of doing the same.
Blaming the gun here will be the media template though so I guess the battle for our basic civil liberties will continue.
ben I thought the important event of the day was the school shooting in Oakland. Oh wait that has to do with guns and we know where you stands on that.

Wow... even the original post is loaded... it reads like a tearful, "CAN'T WE DO SOMETHING?!?" while obviously any act to "DO SOMETHING!" is just going to further subjugate us state authority. The world really started to go to hell when we passed the 19th amendment. Where the heck are the logical men in our society that understand sometimes tragedies happen but it's better to suffer a tragedy from time to time rather than sacrifice more and more of our liberty every single day.
How exactly is attempting to make sure mentally unstable people can't have easy access to a gun sacrificing liberty?
Ben, I don’t think you can just sweep this under the rug, by just calling it a tragedy and not look at the possibility of what lead up to it in the first place. I know you feel threaten that someone is out to get your gun. But what size gun does it take for you to see that guns are only one part of the equation. Look at the entire picture and just don’t brush it off as Liberal Bias.

or another. In this case a female administrator that wasn't on the
premises! So, instead he takes his anger out of 7 adults between the
ages of 21 and 43. It's a crazy angry world and getting worse!
Bartender says, "Do you want that on the rocks or straight? With water? We have bottled and tap water, but I wouldn't use the tap water, sometimes it smells like mold, but it's clear, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I put a filtration unit on the fawcett but the smell is still there...it gets hot fast too...I've burned myself a few times, but I can't figure out how to adjust the water heater...do you know how? Did you say a Gin and Tonic or a Miller Lite? I have short term memory loss from when I hit my head on the counter putting in that filtration unit...I'll get your Jack and Coke in a second...you don't mind Pepsi instead, do you? I don't use Coke since that Liberal "I'd like to teach the world to sing" crap...
