Considering the congestion I've seen in the area, two way traffic might be an invitation to disaster.

I think this idea needs to be seriously rethought.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/26/13 at 4:59

You have a point Ask01, but driving in Nashville is an invitation to disaster. Tennessee has natural born bad driver, plus we have out of town traffic to content with aiding the hometown bad drivers.

I have to do business in the town quite a lot and getting from one end to the other can be a difficult at best. When Church was a one-way street, it was not easy to get through, but now that it is a two-way I find it easier for me to get around town. I can get from one end to the other ( east west ) a lot easier now and a 5th Av north- south would make it even easier, I believe.

I accept you all aren't as dumb as I

By: Captain Nemo on 3/16/13 at 9:51
We know this yogi.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/26/13 at 5:02

Now lets hear from the troll on how rich he thinks he is.

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 5:16

Get off your high horse idiocy, dumba$$. You're too ignorant to make a reasonable point on any issue.

By: gdiafante on 3/26/13 at 6:50

Downtown is a cluster**** when it comes to parking and driving. I'm not really sure what they could do to make it any better, short of better public transportation.

By: Jughead on 3/26/13 at 6:59

Balls.

By: Kosh III on 3/26/13 at 7:07

What gdiafante said

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 7:13

Maybe go back to the old electric buses. They were quit and didn't put out any exhaust. Wonder if they might still have those electric cables over town.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/26/13 at 7:38

yogi's 6:16 post is about himself. You would think he would learn.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/26/13 at 7:40

What Kosh and gdia say.

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 7:43

Who said what?

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 7:43

Nemo - That's what yogi & Raspy use the board for (about themselves)!

I also agree with Kosh & gdiafante.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/26/13 at 7:43

Public trans is the ultimate answer.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/26/13 at 7:44

I would visit downtown much more often if it were more convenient.

The traffic problems are easily fixable. Gasoline is such a bargain for Americans pf all classes. When gasoline gets to $10.00 per gallon and beyond through supply loss and or taxation we should see some relief in traffic. Hopefully taxation will be used to subsidize public transportation. This will be quite helpful to those that can afford $10.00a gallon gasoline.

As far as Fifth Avenue from Church to Union I think an addition of an Adams Hat Store, a Krystal an Orange Bar two movie theaters showing second run and B grade movies along with a high quality womens store,Woolworths,McClellans,S.H.Kress anchored by Walgreens, the Arcade and a Popcorn stand would be nice.

Everything that fits the pocketbook and intellectual capacity of this forum are right in place.

I also agree with Kosh & gdiafante.

And bfra uses it to trash talk those who do not agree with him.

Blanket, I agree. It is not convenient to drive or park downtown. My darling husband turned down good real estate deals in Sylvan Park, Belmont Blvd. and Music Row. He opted for "land in Antioch" and now we're stuck with over financed, under valued land and CARS. When I lived in DC, I sold my car (1974 T-Bird) and walked, biked and hailed a taxi occasionally. My transportation costs were minimal and I enjoyed things such as The Kennedy Center and other events without paying an arm and leg to park a vehicle. I remember that my high rise apartment parking was about $50 a month back then. It must be horrendous by now.

And why are we talking about which way to drive on 5th Avenue when our city has so many problems?

By: budlight on 3/26/13 at 8:17

And by the way, Target store at Hickory Hollow is empty - all shelves, racks and equipment liquidated and bldg is for sale to lowest bidder. Let's put a school there or convert it to a nice place for a branch of the Nashville Rescue Mission. We need to help the homeless and unemployed in our city.

What say ye?

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 8:19

Raspy - Everything that fits the pocketbook and intellectual capacity of this forum are right in place.
================================================
You seem to be more familiar with the places you mention, so are these your usual haunts? Your taste & comments are very lowclass!

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 8:20

bud - Why don't you offer your property for the Rescue Mission, I am sure the company would be good for you?

By: Rasputin72 on 3/26/13 at 8:22

Bfra, A minor in Sociology.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 8:24

Raspy - Is that the best your low IQ can come up with? Get a job!

By: Rasputin72 on 3/26/13 at 8:31

Bfra.....I know this is beyond your ability to comprehend but working would mean that I would only enjoy about 50% of the wages. The rest would go to support unworthy people like you. I know the 50% number is over your head but I dont have time to explain it.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 8:37

Raspy - Don't fret, you don't have the ability to explain anything! Your comments on this board speak volumes of your probably not even 50% ability. You might try Waste Management, they hire people like you,.

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 8:52

Ah yes, gdiafante,

Dementia is bad, but ignorance is worse. I hope you learn more facts in your early years.

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 9:00

bfra,

If you knew what you think you know, you would be a brilliant person. I'm sorry you don't fit that category but hang in there and keep on learning, you might even get equated with dumba$$ in a few years.

By: Jughead on 3/26/13 at 9:06

If we keep coddling bums, they will multiply like zombies. I say round them up and dump them in Memphis or California.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 9:07

Ignore the 10:00AM & 9:52AM comments, these are made by a brainless idiot that doesn't understand common sense.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 9:08

Golly if you dump yogi & Raspy in Memphis, the authorities would instantly cart them off to the zoo, thinking they had escaped.

By: gdiafante on 3/26/13 at 9:16

Good idea jughead. Of course, then you displace millions of law abiding citizens. No, Memphis or California wouldn't do. But since you're channeling your inner Hitler Youth Rally, why not just kill em all and let God sort them out?

Balls

By: dargent7 on 3/26/13 at 9:16

bfra: Don't forget JugHe4ad.
He's fixated with his scrotum.
Like a Boxer.

By: dargent7 on 3/26/13 at 9:21

Public Trans won't work.
Here, the ONLY people who ride the system are students, blue collar, and people who's license has been revoked for DUI's or are too broke to buy a car and are on Social Services. Even the bums don't ride it.
In 6 months, haven't seen one business suit, male or female.
People will never give up their cars.
They are going to build a bullet train from LA to SF costing $50. billion. Will go 220mph. and take 2.5 hours.
Nashville needs a Light Rail downtown, but it takes up enormous real estate and everything now as it is, is too compact .

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 9:23

d7 - You can judge a person by where their mind always stays. Jug's - his scrotum & yogi - anything anal. Raspy, he just is so busy trying to make everyone think he is somebody, he forgets what he writes & then contradicts himself.

By: gdiafante on 3/26/13 at 9:26

It all boils down to a lack of planning, darge. They want the city to grow, but they have never really addressed the transportation issues. All you have to do is look at the incredibly stupid interstate exchanges around the city.

By: tomba1 on 3/26/13 at 9:27

bfra-

" Golly if you dump yogi & Raspy in Memphis, the authorities would instantly cart them off to the zoo, thinking they had escaped. "

but the IQs of BOTH cities would increase.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 9:30

tomba 1 - Don't get that!

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 9:36

Sorry, tomba1, but I was stationed in Millington when I was in the Navy and lived in Memphis when I was there with the old Weather Bureau. And I ain't going back, dammit.

I didn't loose anything there and I'm afraid I might wind up with bfra and dumba$$ as neighbors.

By: gdiafante on 3/26/13 at 9:41

Of course you didn't loose anything there, yogi. You were preoccupied with your coarsework in squidology.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 9:46

gdiafante - I'll bet that old boy (yogi) is as slimey as any squid!

By: dargent7 on 3/26/13 at 9:56

That huge Convention Center is on top of everything else. Wher's the Parking?
To build a Light Rail around the thing will never happen.
And ride a Tenn. bus sometime.
Unemployed, bums, old people going to a Drs. appt.,
Not one suit, ever.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 10:14

There was one article that stated, for the MCC to pay just the electric bill for 1 month would put them in the hole, but that got squashed evidently as there as been nothing else about it, publicly.

By: yogiman on 3/26/13 at 11:15

Sorry to disappoint you, gdiafante but I was already an expert in 'squidology' when stationed on Yap and Palau. I was taught by experts out there. And them damn squids would squirm every time I grabbed one. They fought like hell when I told them I was going to have them as a snack. And I always won.

By: gdiafante on 3/26/13 at 11:28

Yeah...not that kind of squid, dimwit. You really are oblivious.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 3/26/13 at 11:42

g, shame on you for trying to have a battle of the wits with an unarmed person! yogi was born stupid - he can't help it.

By: bfra on 3/26/13 at 11:43

Blanket - That is an understatement, for sure!

By: Jughead on 3/26/13 at 12:27

Good idea--round up the bums and send them to concentration camps!!! They are useless anyways.

By: Jughead on 3/26/13 at 12:27

Balls.
