Up for Debate: BCS championship game

Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 2:35am

The BCS championship game: What happened? Is the SEC really out of the reach of all the other conferences? Will next year's four-team playoff system be better or worse? Should Notre Dame join a conference? What was the best and worst to come out of Monday night's game?

Good grief!

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 6:43

"Playoff game" is in conference name only to determine a conference champion. There's so many "playoff" games in the nation for [money only] there can be no determination as to which team is the best in the nation.

Uhhh....missed it. When the topic moves to something more substantial; I'll leave a comment.

By: govskeptic on 1/8/13 at 7:04

In an interview just prior to game, ND coach was telling reporters all about the
strength of his defensive and offensive lines, brushing off everything else about
that being where the game would be decided. Skill, speed and depth of the
bench for Alabama was key, as it will be again next year.

By: treehugger7 on 1/8/13 at 7:37

Who cares about this? No wonder I spend so little time here anymore!

By: Rasputin72 on 1/8/13 at 7:42

I love anything that has to do with human competition. All men are not created equal and athletics, academics and any contest to prove this are right down my alley.

Then there is the quest for the almighty dollar. Oh, how I loved the competition.

By: Kosh III on 1/8/13 at 7:52

I hear that after the game they all went to a gay piano bar and debated the great question of the century: what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

By: treehugger7 on 1/8/13 at 8:04

Good post , Kosh!

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:05

Finally, Kosh offers something of substance to the board...96 sweaty jocks barge into a gay piano bar.....they order pitchers of Shirley Temples....and offer a toast to Coach Sandusky?

By: budlight on 1/8/13 at 8:06

Or they went to just any bar to discuss the lame topic at CP. Who picks these subjects? They need to raise the bar! (no pun intended)

By: Rasputin72 on 1/8/13 at 8:11

Obviously those that have accomplished nothing of consequence and hold out hope for a redistribution of power and wealth are active on this board this morning.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 8:13

Something to talk about. Thanks Kosh!

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:14

Rasp wrote, "All men are not created equal and athletics, academics and any contest to prove this are right down my alley."

Spoken like a true champion. Rasp is too modest to brag about his trophies...he won the 2008 Grey Poupon Cook-Off Competition, held in Dijon, France....his Foie Gras de Dijon is considered to be one of the most pretentious culinary delights ever offered in any culinary competition anywhere.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 8:15

Is that why you post Raspy old boy? Is this where you think you can accomplish somethjng?

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 8:16

He is now taken yogi's place as the biggest dumbass.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 8:16

Got to run. Later.

By: slacker on 1/8/13 at 8:20

Schism erupts... Protestants beat Catholics...

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:28

Slacker: "Notre Dame" means "Our Lady"...an immaculate reception was nowhere to be found, however....Protestants claim that this is Divine Proof that the mother of Christ has been falsely deified by the papists....I blame it on the lack of Holy Water in ND's Gatorade bucket...they used un-blessed Poland Spring, the dummies.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:29

See ya, Cap'n Nemo....warp on!

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 8:30

Is all of Notre Dame's team Catholics? If they are, doesn't that make them a school of prejudice?

By: Rasputin72 on 1/8/13 at 8:31

I must have hit a nerve with these twits! Oh, how they hate to have their life failures thrown into their faces. Oh, how I love to pull on their tails.

This little 16 member board provides such a good look at what diversity has done to the United States. Just how angry can America get before the volcano blows its top.

I can remember growing up how people like the Simple Six were allowed only to be seenand not heard.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:32

I knew that things were desperate for the Notre Dame team's cheerleaders lit sticks of incense....and votive candles....too little, too late.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:34

...uhh, I botched that post...better light some incense here too...and a candle.

By: BenDover on 1/8/13 at 8:41

The Irish got a knee to the twins... just as predicted. The real championship game was Alabama v. Georgia a few weeks ago.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:41

Actually, Rasp, I look forward to your public displays of delusional manifestations...you think that you are pulling our tails....I think that you are trying to pull our legs....and not succeeding. Some display of your claimed wealth would add some credence to your boasting and bragging....how about sending all 16 of us a check for $100...as earnest money....proof of your authenticity...$1,600 is chicken feed for a high roller such as yourself....so let's see the bread, not just the circus.

Thank you, in advance, for the C-note.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 8:48

My arrogant ass of a brother-in-law is a huge Notre Dame fan...he's an alumnus of ND...I must admit that I am deriving a bit of schadenfreude over this humiliating defeat of the Fighting Irish....I may have to go to Confession....Catholics think schadenfreude is sinful....that's one of the reasons that many Germans went Protestant, I suppose.

I tried to get a comment on this New York Times board....four attempts, none successful:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/08/nyregion/bloomberg-team-suggested-mayoral-run-to-big-names.html?google_editors_picks=true&_r=0

My comments cut across the grain and questioned the conventional wisdom...the Helen Thomas Effect kicked in at the NYT....I am a long-time member and poster on the NYT....but I am now on some kind of fecal roster there....when it comes to diversity of views and freedom of expression, the Nashville City Paper easily beats the New York Times.

We should appreciate our host's fairness and benevolence....long live the NCP!

BCS Championship....does that acronym stand for Brain Concussion Series?

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 9:15

I dunno how or why my 8:57 post was re-posted @ 9:04....electronic hiccup?

By: Rasputin72 on 1/8/13 at 9:26

Obama invented it, but oh, how I love this class warfare theme.

LONER..........I do not distribute any kind of charitable donations since the re-election of Barac Hussein Obama.

I see you begging for a handout as a repugnant act befitting of everything you support.

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 9:30

Correct me if I'm wrong, Loner, but I'm thinking of you to be considering yourself as a biased ignorant idiot as you keep insisting I am as your "least favorite" 'troller' here at NCP.

You're sure making such implications.

13 comments as of 10:00 am (okay, I'll concede the double post from 8:57 & 9:04 to make it 12) on something unsubstantial... must be great to have a thrilling life!

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 10:27

Not to change the subject... but I see where the dumolcrapic party is presenting a bill that will kill Amendment XXII to open the door for Barry to be elected to officially become our dictator. Hell, do they even need to get that bill passed for him to declare himself dictator and takeover. After all, he's had a congress that's backed him up all the way. And that includes the Republicans, also.

It's funny it was shown he was defeated in every state that required Photo ID but won in all that didn't require it. And it's easier to win when you can get more votes than registered voters.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 10:36

The only nerve you have hit is your own. Just kills you not to know who I am, but I know who yuo are.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 10:36

shb you

Raspy was a dud as a hippy, so now he play the rich boy on the internet.

Got to go again.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 10:41

Thank you for your interest, PKVol....and thanks for keeping a tally for me....and yes, it is great to have a thrilling life....if you drive the hate out of your heart, you could enjoy a more thrilling life too.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 10:49

Rasputin sez: "LONER..........I do not distribute any kind of charitable donations since the re-election of Barac Hussein Obama."

Raspy, I'm not talking about charity here.... I'm talking about establishing your credibility as some sort of wealthy tycoon...for a lousy $1,600 bucks....apparently, you don't consider your credibility to be worth all that much.....and that's a good thing....because you have zero credibility here on these NCP boards.

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 11:06

Loner, the first thing considered when being suckered into a handout is; is he worth it? And I don't see any of you "simple sixers" worth even a buck, let alone a hundred.

What would you do with it if you found a sucker; laugh at the idiot that gave it to you?

By: Eye Nose & Now ... on 1/8/13 at 11:15

it is grate to be back on CP as for 24hrs or more i couldnt get on site and i thought
the meanspearit republicans done had me barred cause I takes up for Obama
on all those hateful and true things yogaman keep say about Obama and it is yogi
fault I KNOW those things true but it be like if you have a rich ugly girl friend you dont
tell her yiou know she be ugly or she cut off the moneys so you keep saying good
things to her tho you knows they be lies and that is how with us Obama Believers
we just ignores truth yogi say that any half-witt morun know he right on but it work

Here's a real topic to discuss, but be prepared to be angry

By: Rasputin72 on 1/8/13 at 11:21

LONER........You hit the nail on the head. I have no need to establish credibility with anyone on this chat board. You should dismiss my comments if you think they are unworthy with the ageless retort, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words willl never hurt me."

Just for the record why would anyone including yourself need to establish credibility with anyone on this site?

Pay attention to the words and the motivation. This is all one needs to play in this game.

This is sport only. If in reality your bowels lock wide open it is of no consequence to me.This is the wonderment of internet relatonships.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 11:28

Redneck Ebonics @ 11:15....the schtick is schtale....no entertainment value....but it does seem to get under the top troll's skin....so it's not worthless....just a cheap shot.

By: Loner on 1/8/13 at 11:33

I gotta run....PKVol can lead the discussion....I'm sure that he has something substantial to say.

See ya!

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 11:47

WOW! I just read where Barry was rated the 4th best president ever in the USA! It was a Democratic party release that said: "after less than four years" Obama was rated the 4th best president ever in the USA.

The details? Reagan and 9 others tied for first; 15 president tied for 2nd and 19 others tied for 3rd. So now I believe it, Barry came in 4th.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/8/13 at 11:48

Loner, the translation of Raspy's ruffly goes like this; I am a fraud.

Trolls have no life of their own. They have nothing to offer civilized people on are off the internet. The lonely reason we have the 4 trolls we have now, is because there is not enough Nut House now.

By: yogiman on 1/8/13 at 11:55

It seems 11 states now have more people on welfare than they have employed. The states: AL; CA; IL; KY; HI; ME; MS; NM; NY; OH and SC.

Let's see now, Which ones are Obama's states? HI and IL and he can't even get them jobs? What a usurper, eh?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 1/8/13 at 2:59

Most welfare recipients by state. Out of all states and territories TN ranks 5th; IL ranks 51.
