Where in the Constitution does it give congress the parental authority of "we the citizens" to order us to wear seat belts and helmets... not to name other personal facts.

Yogi, you are correct. The Constitution does not state that. However, keep in mind, that most intelligent people can realize the value of a seatbelt law, a helmet law or others designed for public safety. I think the laws are really written so stupid people can be saved. I realize that when I was a kid, we had no seatbelts; we stood up in the back seat of the car, or sat up close to the dash in the front seat. We rode on the back of a pick up truck and did many things we don't do today. But highways were not as fast and people didn't do as much alcohol or drugs.

I feel safer with a seatbelt; it saved my life in a crash. As for motorcycles, I don't drive or ride them, so it is of no consequence to me personally. I just know what closed head injury does to a person and a family - personally, so I advocate for sound thinking when on one.

He wants to appear "black". Stuffs socks.

Budlight, please allow me to throw out an idea once employed by some European countries.

Anyone injured in an accident who was not wearing a seat belt or helmet risked having their insurance settlements drastically reduced or even denied based on circumstances. As I recall, if you were not at fault, and not using safety equipment, you faced some loss of benefits; if you were at fault, though, you could be denied most or all benefits.

The reasoning was if you cared so little for your own safety and well being, why should society have to bear the burden for your bad decisions.

In that spirit, let people over 18 decide for themselves about seatbelts and helmets. We could cull vast numbers from the gene pool.

Likewise with health expenses for smokers and chronic alcoholics. If they refuse to cut back drinking or stop smoking, let them go. However, they are responsible for medical treatments related to their vices. Public funded treatment would be limited to pain killers to ease their transition to room temperature.

Yet another case of Darwinism at work.

But that was European laws, Ask01, not USA laws. Should we go into a one world government? I don't think so. I like what used to be the good old USA.

I agree with you on the safety factors. I wore a helmet when I rode my motorcycle and wear my seat belt today, but that should be by choice, not by governent orders.

That was a novelty, I have never seen a pointed helmet!

By: yogiman on 4/7/13 at 11:16

Look in a mirror, bfra. That should show you what they fit and what they'll look like.

By: Ask01 on 4/7/13 at 6:10

bfra, the mental picture coming to mind is a scene from "Coneheads" in which the family wear elongated helmets.

Only the poster you refered to would need one coming to a point to prevent it from slipping about in the windstream.

It would be rather funny, a pickelhaube with the point blended seamlessly into the helmet unlike the one most saw on "Hogan's Hero's."

We should actually be open to good ideas no matter where they originate, don't you think, bfra?

Of course, some are so overwhelmed by their own xenophobia and narrow mindedness to think on their own.

By: yogiman on 4/7/13 at 9:58

Are you referring to your narrow minded self, Ask01? If so, I must agree with you.

One would think that, anyone that stays on this board 24/7 posting nothing but lies & smut, would have learned to concoct a sensible, original response, by now. Without a brain, that has definitely shown to be impossible!

If you have the brain you feel you have, bfra, and know how to read, go to www.newswithviews.com/devvy/kidd571.htm/ and let me know what you think. That is, if you have the brains to understand it.

Sorry, bfra, that site won't "open the door".

Go to www.devvy.com/ and go below the main article to the one in the list dated 01/21/2013 titled "Criminal imposter who usurped the office of president sworn in again."

Jugs you should not be calling anyone uneducated, if you don’t know the definition of Nimrod. You neutered Dork.
