How do you feel about the Boy Scouts of America's affirmation on its ban against openly gay members? Is it a right, just and prudent decision, or should gays be allowed to join the organization?
I'm doing great Blanket. We got to get together sometime and catch up.
Not ketchup, yogi.

Give me the proper definitions for use, Beernazi. I apparently didn't have the same English teacher as you.

I wish I did d7. I can’t wait till the first frost. Remember to say that we would regret the warm winter we had.
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:08
yogi, good rule of thumb is to use "were" for plural and "was" for singular. As in....there WAS a gay person vs. there WERE gay people. If it's plural, use WERE.

Translation; what you talking about?
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:09
"There was homosexuals in the services when I joined in 1947 but if they became open about it..."
There WERE homosexuals would be the correct usage.
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:10
Nemo, we do need to catch up! I still have a Star Trek DVD to give you.
By:slacker on 7/18/12 at 9:13
Gay leaders could easily start and support, their own scout groups.
Create their own scout rules & regulations. IMO that would be a prudent soulution.

Hi nazi, I miss your posts.

Thanks, g. What sort of English teachers do they hire down here? lol

I'll bring the same questions up again, y'all: How can you "intelligent" people accept "Barack Obama" as someone to be the president of this nation when you don't even know who he is? You don't even know his legitimate name. You don't know if he went to the schools he claims to have attended and you don't know if he has ever been an American citizen.
So my question: If he was a natural born American citizen, how did he re-become a natural born citizen after he became an Indonesian citizen?
The only reason any of you have given for voting for him is because of his race (which, of course, isn't racism to you. But I'm a racist because I simply want to know who in the hell he is.
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:18
Hi, slacker! My appointment book has been full here lately so I haven't had as much time to participate. It's good to see you guys!
By:Captain Nemo on 7/18/12 at 9:19
Blanket-
Let me know when is a good time for you and I will try to make it.
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:20
Oh, geez....I forgot to add the grammar part about past tense vs. present tense.
"If he was a natural born American citizen...." Looks like you got tripped up again. The proper usage would be "If he WERE a natural born..."
Do you want me to give you some links that would help you to become more proficient in the correct usage of grammar?
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:21
Will do, Nemo!

Um...I've explained it many times...he was elected because (supposedly) he wasn't going to be Bush's third term. His election had nothing to do with race, but I suspect that a lot of the birther nonsense does.
So, as it turns out, it was effectively Bush's third term.

yogi is so dumb, he doesn't even know who the President of the United States is! Everybody else on this board does, but poor ole yogi doesn't and since Bud supports him, I guess she doesn't either.

yogi, here is a practice worksheet that is used in ESL (English as Second Language) classes that will help you.

Yes, welcome back beer...this site has sorely missed you.
Or, for yogi, it has soarly missed you...lol

Sorry to disappoint you, Beernazi, but I was taught English up yonder... in Wisconsin. I'm afraid my old teacher has "checked out" not so I can't chew her out for teaching me wrong... according to you.
I believe the way I was taught, either wording would be acceptable.
By:Beernazi on 7/18/12 at 9:25
Well, the vulgar misuse of grammer is really appalling to my intellectual sensibilities so I had to take a break.

Yogi.. your participles are dangling.. have a little pride.

It's a shame that people who will be speaking English as a second language will know proper grammar usage better than someone who was raised speaking English. So, if you happen to be one of those "English only" supporters, you better study grammar.
By:gdiafante on 7/18/12 at 9:34
My guess is that he was taught proper grammar, but he's 80...and from a rural part of the state...the vernacular of location takes precedent.

In yogi defense.. he had to write on the back of a shovel, with a piece of charcoal.
Hey, at least Santa gave him coal.
Or yogi was Home Schooled by a monkey.
Let me know when Blanket on FB
Poor yogi had to walk six miles to school, in the snow.. carrying a damn shovel.
There is a family resemblance, Nemo.
Maybe that is why he favors animals for affection. After all he licks his female dog.
Yogi's dangling participle eventually got the best of him.
Hi Blanket! You need to quit working so hard and join in more often. Your comments always add a lot to the discussions.
Thanks, bfra! It's good to see you!
Someone should offer Yogi.. a preposition he can't refuse.
Dangling particles of yogi and bud’s Widescarper. Oh my!
LOL slacker
You guys are having too much fun.
reddit had a thread last night...
Which actor should finally come out of the closet?
Around 20,000 comments... almost entirely unanimous.
Ben, you're a fellow redditor! I <3 reddit!
Let me guess, Ben...either Travolta or Cruise.
Reddit is awesome.
Cruise all the way.
I read somewhere once that all of his ex wives have something in common. A vagina.
Are Scientologists allowed to be gay?
Travolta & Cruise can now team-up and remake ''Grease.''
Cruise can play Olivia Newton John's role.
