Up for Debate: Campfield's about face

Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:01am

What do you make of the move by state Sen. Stacey Campfield — Newt Gingrich's campaign co-chair in Tennessee — to switch allegiance to Rick Santorum's campaign? Who does it reflect on more; Campfield, Gingrich or Santorum?

These campaign managers, advisors want to be on the winning team.
Gingrich is tanking. If he doesn't win Georgia tomorrow, he's toast.
Campfield is betting he loses everything tomorrow, so want's to say a step ahead.
Sanitarium may win a lot here in the south which isn't saying much.

By: Ummm... on 3/5/12 at 5:58

The GOPTP legislators of our state seem to have no qualms whatsoever about going from bad to worse.

By: dargent7 on 3/5/12 at 6:18

I didn't have a chance to read Burch's column on Friday.
Sanitarium might come periously close to the W.H. steps.
He wouldn't carry CA, NY, MI, etc., who knows?
Romney's Mormon faith might rear it's ugly head.
Did anyone else catch "yogi" postings about the decor in the Obama W.H.?
Seems all the American colors of the flag have been replaced with the "Arab Collection", complete with Arabic symbols. The Qu'ran is on all the coffee tables. The pictures of the past Presidents have been taken down, replaced by Ayotollas, Sheiks, Imams.
The Lincoln Bedroom has been dismantled, replaced by the Mohammund Playpen.
I still want to know how Romney's father born in Mexico City, Mexico differs from Obama's born in Kenya. Or McCain born in the Panama Canal Zone didn't raise an eyebrow.

Good morning, Nashville!

What do you make of the move by state Sen. Stacey Campfield — Newt Gingrich's campaign co-chair in Tennessee — to switch allegiance to Rick Santorum's campaign? I dunno, call of the wild, perhaps? Campfield jumps from the frying pan into the fire?
Another faith-based act of madness?

Maybe Reverend Campfield had a Divine Apparition in which Jesus came down from Heaven, to campaign for Richard the Zion-hearted - savior of the Chosen People in the Promised Land.

This question is best directed to Pastor Campfield....the Tea-bag-bearing Disciple of the armed and dangerous Christ.

Gingrich is on the take to the Adleson's for over ten million dollars, so now Newt is saluting Netanyahu while booing our own President. Newt sold out relatively cheap, IMO, for a lousy ten million, the Israelis have completely and absolutely purchased the the Newt...such a deal!

As for Santorum. he is a heretical Catholic who is playing the "I-hate-the-Kenedy's" card in order to pander to the born-again Southern bigots....the scam is working, the Vatican-hating Southern crackers are flocking to the evangelical Catholic. Santorum found the key to their blackhearts.

As for Pastor Campfield, look for a sex scandal....I smell a rat there.

By: bfra on 3/5/12 at 6:51

So far IMO, the GOP has a bunch of clowns, slandering & making fun of each other, but no one that is presidential material.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 7:00

I'd agree with that, bfra. The longer this goes on, the more America will realize it too.

What I find interesting is the amount of hypocrisy that exists with these candidates.

First, Romney, creator of "Romneycare" now crying foul and harping about repealing the health care law.

Second, Santorum, whining about how the government should stay out of people's personal lives yet would happily force Catholic morals upon the entire country whether we want it or not.

Third, the anti-Obama rhetoric concerning how he's Socialist, Marxist, etc., when so much of his policy was created by Conservatives twenty years ago.

Fourth, we're broke and should stop spending money...except in preparation for another war...

Truth is stranger than fiction.

I read Yogi's complaints about the "Middle Eastern" decor in the WH...I can explain it:

Israeli interior decorators were hired by Congress, in a no-bid contract deal, to turn the White House into a Middle Eastern-looking place....Stars of David on everything from the White House carpets to the White House toilet paper....no crucifixes or the "fish" symbol, however...no Islamic crescents, of course....just Chosen People stuff....to keep the President focused on his primary mission - Expediting the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple, so that the Second Coming, the Rapture & Armageddon can occur....being a Muslim, BHO needed the constant reminders as to who his bosses really are.

Now you know the rest of the story....nothing to be alarmed about.

By: dargent7 on 3/5/12 at 7:01

Romney is the closest one to being "Presidential material". He'll dice and slice, and has a proven track record for narrowing spending, cutting jobs....bombing Iran is in all the Three Stooges + Joe's cross-hairs. Incrdibly stupid, tragic move.

By: Loner on 3/5/12 at 7:04

Acronym Test: the Second Coming, Rapture & Armageddon Program....SCRAP.

Obama used TARP to clean up after Bush & Cheney...Santorum may have to use SCRAP to clean up after our "Muslim" president?

Dammit...I want a job in the basement of the WH, in the Office of Euphemisms and Acronyms....I may have to use the NCP as a reference.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 7:20

So, yogi, having failed to cite any proper case law to support his claim, relies on the old "when all else fails, critique home decor" argument. He's a master debater.

By: dargent7 on 3/5/12 at 7:26

Just a masterbater. Good at it, too.

By: Loner on 3/5/12 at 7:37

Found this image of Romney, the RINO....it would look good on a T-shirt...no text needed.

Yogi's eyesight isn't so good these days and his palms are so hairy it effects his typing...but we love the poor bastard...sure he's Yogi- One-Note on the Birther deal, but he acts as a convenient foil* for our attempts at humor etc.

*From Wikipedia:
Foil: In fiction, a foil is a character who contrasts with another character (usually the protagonist) in order to highlight particular qualities of the other character.

What do I think of Campfeild? It is like Rat(Ranting American Terrorist)jumping a sinking ship.

Poor yogi, when confronted with the truth and logic his half brain shutdown and his mouth closes tighter than a sex starved gay man.

Follow up:

The drape behind Obama is a bright yellow color drape with Arab designs on it. No appearance of the American flag.

There are American flags behind all presidents in the pictures after Obama, back to Ronald Reagan. And I'm sure probably before them.

Loner yogi must be smoking some very strange Rabbit Tobacco, because President Obama did not change the Oval Office décor. Look for yourself.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/photos/ovaloffice.asp

By: yogiman on 3/5/12 at 7:57

I used to wonder why the democrappers were so willing to accept a usurper in the Oval Office. But with the ignorance on display at this site, it takes that wonder away.

Oh, by the way, gdiafante, was you thrilled by your fellow [male] marines kissing in public? You know, one was greeting his "partner" returning from overseas?

Now that should encourage a lot of young men to rush to the enlistment office, shouldn't it?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 7:58

BTW they still have the Burch article up.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 7:59

It's a free country, yogi. I know this may come as a shock, but there were gay Marines when I served, and there will be in the future. Homophobia is an ugly thing.

Got that case law ready?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 8:00

I think yogi main beef with Obama is that his mother is white. He just can’t stand that a white woman would marry and have sex with a black man.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 8:01

Tell the truth yogi, you don’t wonder you know more than God.

By: yogiman on 3/5/12 at 8:01

dargent7,

How do you know I'm such a great "masterbater"? Was that you trying to teach me?

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 8:02

I used to think that these old Southern bigots were becoming a thing of the past. Thanks to the GOP, it's making a comeback. God bless Amurka.

By: Loner on 3/5/12 at 8:03

Speaking of our resident tin-foil-helmet-wearing comedic foil, Yogi arrives at 7:57.

This morning it's not just the "Usurper" allegation and the allegation that we are all "ignorant"...it's homophobia...US Marines (2 guys) kissing each other in public....Yogi taunts GD, a Marine, with the stick of homophobia....let the games begin!

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 8:06

Loner, I think that yogi doth protest too much. I'm wondering if he's posting from his closet?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 8:06

“A word to the wise ain't necessary, it's the stupid yogi's who need the advice.”

Bill Cosby

By: Rasputin72 on 3/5/12 at 8:07

I always enjoy the opening comments by LONER. It takes years of being exiled from the South to come up with his thrist for topics that involve Christ and bigotry. All you need is a little bit of truth and LONER will supply the venom.

Today was one of his best. In fact I enjoyed it enough that I think later on today I will read it again.

As for the Reverend I really don't care what he supports or does not support.

GD:
The Sons of the Confederacy are getting the Stars & Bars on more state license plates...that is a barometer for hate, IMO.

Can you imagine the furor, if a swastika was available on a state license plate? The swastika is to Jewish people as the Stars&Bars flag is to black Americans. But black Americans are supposed to tolerate the equivalent of the swastika on government-issued license plates. Incredibly, in 2012, many Southern whites are still pining for the Confederacy and its values....Lincoln should have let them go their own way, IMO....over 618,000 soldiers and sailors died in the 4-year war between the states. When the union troops withdrew, the KKK moved in to fill the vacuum.

The South never fully repented, GD....some Southerners still carry a torch for white supremacy.

Bigotry is not limited to the South...but nostalgia for the Confederacy seems to be a Southern thing.

The Confederacy was based upon white supremacy, the Constitution of the CSA is the smoking cannon....there's no denying it, there was no glory nor virtue in the Southern cause....the cause was hate-based.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 8:26

Loner, you're preaching to the choir. Most down here see the "Stars and Bars" as their legacy. I see it as a reminder of treason. There is no honor in wanting to break up the Republic in order to preserve a way of life which, as you stated, consisted entirely of white supremacy. It goes against the very essence of what Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independece that all men are created equal. Honestly, it's disgusting the way Southern society has created a myth surrounding the Civil War.

That's my rant.

By: Loner on 3/5/12 at 8:27

Again, I must thank Rasputin72 for his "kind" words...I may have to write a book...I'll keep the Rasp's "compliments" in mind, as an incentive to keep slogging through....writing is WORK...I have a lot of Maynard G. Krebs in me....Rasp, would you purchase my book?

Please, some suggestions for thematic material, if you would be so kind as to offer some....don't sugar-coat it.

By: Loner on 3/5/12 at 8:31

OK, GD, we are using the same hymnal....that's good. Now we just need to tune our instruments....gimme your "C".

By: Ummm... on 3/5/12 at 8:34

Loner and gdiafante, I am a southerner who is ashamed of the sins of the confederacy. Unfortunately, I am in the minority around here where people are proud of their tradition of bigotry and wear their ignorance like a badge of honor.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 8:36

Loner, I use drop D tuning...gives the distortion a good crunch...

By: yogiman on 3/5/12 at 8:43

Children,

As I have said before, I consider the source and ignore the ignorance of the [not so] intelligent poster.

And, gdiafante, homos were also in the services in the 40s and 50s when I was in, but they kept it quiet. If they put themselves on "display" they were discharged with a undesirable discharge.

The only ones that put themselves on display were ones that wanted our of service faster than their enlistment dates.

They were young men that didn't think of how it would effect their private lives when it was known to the public.

By: dargent7 on 3/5/12 at 8:46

Anyone catch The Moody Blues on Npt last night.....from LA?
Only 3 original members, but all are over 65 and rocked pretty good.
Will be at The Ryman March 23rd, or something.
In Search of the Lost Cord is like Abbey Road. You can play the entire LP both sides, start to finish. IMO.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 8:48

Yogi, yes, they were forced to keep themselves in the shadows by an ignorant society. Thankfully, society is progressing. Eventually, you homophobes will die off. All we can do now is wait.

By: Rasputin72 on 3/5/12 at 8:49

I had a friend whom I grew up with who would be called a bigot today. At the time he was just called a regular fellow who followed his observations. He wound up marrying aInd having a son. He saw the future and wanted his son to be free of any bigotry. I will not go on with the things he did to free his son's mind of bigoted thoughts.

Today his son is as big a bigot if not more so than his father. The family business has prospered and they live quite well. Having known this boy or man today since birth I engaged in a conversation with him a couple of years ago about his father and his fathers efforts to free him from bigotry. I asked him how he had come to have such a bigoted mind with all that was done to open his mind.

His reply was "My father did not take away my eyes." All one had to do was look at what was being allowed on this earth and the culture they were bringing upon it." "I look at the vile existence of many of these people and made up my own mind as to what was bigotry and what actually scum."

I decided to let the conversation die at that point and headed over to the club for a round of golf.

By: jvh2b on 3/5/12 at 9:19

Not surprised on the Campfield move.

Think about what Campfield and Santorum share in mutual interest: an obsession w/ anal sex.

Santorum is the ONLY candidate that has an official policy on it. Campfield likes to make the state look like a bunch of bass ackwards hicks by making claims that AIDS was started by a gay pilot who had a love affair w/ a monkey...oh and you can't get AIDS if your str8.

Ignorant birds of a feather.....

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 9:20

Ummm I am a native born also. There are a lot more of us than the KKK and Neo-Nazis would like to think.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 9:20

The Gays were in Korea too, isn’t that right yogi.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 9:26

"My father did not take away my eyes." All one had to do was look at what was being allowed on this earth and the culture they were bringing upon it." "I look at the vile existence of many of these people and made up my own mind as to what was bigotry and what actually scum."

Rasputin-

That sounds like a well rehearsed propaganda speech to me. Does your friends eyes gazed over when he recites this?

By: bfra on 3/5/12 at 9:29

If the South is so bad, why do so many Northerners move down here? Never hardly hear of any Southerners moving North.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 9:30

Nemo, imagine his friend's surprise when he gets to heaven and sees all the multi-colored scum...

Well, that's if he gets there...

By: bfra on 3/5/12 at 9:32

Nemo - I didn't get the point, either! Except that Rasputin72 belonged to a club & played golf.

By: gdiafante on 3/5/12 at 9:33

Simple Bfra, there's plenty of land and it's cheaper to live. And don't misunderstand, I'm not saying that bigotry is exclusive to the South, it's not. But the North has moved past the Civil War.

By: bfra on 3/5/12 at 9:35

:Pinkie in air" Wonder if they have tea?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/5/12 at 9:38

I don’t think the south is so bad now, because of all the northern and even the west coast influence now. It is a lot better than it uses to be. I think that newly arrived Northern do not have a reference has to how good thing are now.
