Who would vote to refuse themselves benefits, either short term or lifetime? They just copied from the national congress.

By: Ask01 on 11/14/12 at 6:01

Of course, this is the same group who rubber stamped Mayor Dean's tax increase to avoid the dire consequences of living in a city overwheimed by poverty.

I wonder how many of this august body applauded Willard's comments about the self entitled 47%, only to prove to be even bigger moochers?

When I consider drains on the public funds, groups such as this one instantly spring to mind.

Expecting the electorate to act, however, is fairly pointless, having witnessed the results of the last several elections. (The only bright spot was my excuse of a representative being deposed for supporting the MCC. A thought I will always cherish.) Most of the voters seem so beaten and apathetic, they just accept the abuse from politicians.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 6:08

Of course they'd vote themselves lifetime benefits...ironically, it seems for all the state and local contempt of the national government, they just can't wait to act just like them.

So when are we going to change our motto from 'In God We Trust' to To Hell with Everyone Else?

By: bfra on 11/14/12 at 6:23

A Metro council meeting would be all the fodder an aspiring comic strip writer would need.

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 6:25

With Obamacare locked in now why worry about healthcare programs like this? We should scrap the whole thing and save the compliance costs.

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 6:26

Well, at least we agreed on this one thing. Now if I could convince you guys the man sitting in our Oval Office is a usurper that should be tried for treason.....

steaming pile of elephant dung written by a troll that seems to have irrevocable brain damage and should be institutionalized for his safety and the safety of the rest of society.

By: bfra on 11/14/12 at 6:40

gdiafante - Your definition of the brainless BLOB is very accurate.

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 7:04

In you feeble minds, I agree, bfra, you are continuously showing yourselves to be the idiots you are.

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 7:09

Time will tell, children. I can't wait to see how you accept your ignorance.

It's funny, you all accuse me of being wrong but have never offered proof of yourselves to be right. Why not, don't you have any?

By: Kosh III on 11/14/12 at 7:19

" you all accuse me of being wrong but have never offered proof of yourselves to be right. "

Yet another lie.
We have repeatedly posted the pertinent passage of the Constitution, his birth certificate is available, his birth notice was in the Honolulu paper, he was known to many as a child in Hawaii and other evidence that is accepted by every sane person and politician.

Yogi however, has done nothing but say we should read the President's book, and made vague assertions about some law that he REFUSES to cite.

By: Kosh III on 11/14/12 at 7:20

Will the Council now propose to stop coverage immediately as Maynard says? Don't hold your breath.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 7:25

Don't try, Kosh. The troll is incapable of understanding. He refuses. It's not worth the effort. He's just a little puppy, yapping away. Just ignore the little mutt.

By: Rasputin72 on 11/14/12 at 7:27

I chuckled when I saw that the council had voted themselves lifetime benefits. I could not help but think what the "Simple Six" would have done had these "excuses" been on the Metro council.

Gdiafante as usual presents his distaste for privileged people very well. His 6:08 was one of his best. I second the motion if there is a motion on the floor.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 7:35

Actually, Rasp, it's not distaste, it's contempt. And it's not for the "privileged", it's for those who abuse the system to further their own incessant need for "stuff".

Ironically, you whine on here about the 47% who have their hand out, the council, apparently, is part of that number...so is Congress...so is anyone who thinks they deserve any special treatment.

As Van Halen so elequently rocked, Everybody wants some.

It would serve you to remember that when one speaks of the entitlement society, that includes the 100%.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 7:44

Good morning, Nashville.

What is your reaction to the Metro Council's decision to keep lifetime health benefits for its members?

That is an unaffordable and undeserved extravagance.

Vote every one of those self-serving, gold-digging, Council members out of office ASAP.

Many folks are currently paying $1,000/month for health insurance...these parasites want to stick the taxpayers with their medical bills and the medical bills of their family members for the rest of their natural lives...and for what? For voting with the voting bloc? For simply showing up at the meetings and waiting for adjournment?

Do not let this slide...the citizens need to mobilize quickly, or this will all be forgotten and forgiven.....meanwhile: kerching!

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 7:49

You guys whining about the little stuff while there's a real crisis afoot.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 7:50

Maybe the state was right? Is Metro out of control? Can the state step in to rescind this vote to rip-off the taxpayers? I was a supporter of metro in its "war" with the state government...but I no longer feel that way...Metro is taking you folks to the cleaners....they are a bunch of self-centered thieves.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/14/12 at 7:53

Nashville City Council is a joke. There's only a couple redeemable members.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/14/12 at 7:54

Raspy enjoys the Joy of shacking up.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/14/12 at 7:55

Nothing like the Joy of mooching off someone else's place, huh.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 7:55

Better Off Dead...sigh...they don't make movies like that anymore. Thank you Ben!

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 7:58

I left this comment on the link Ben provided...the opossum drop story:

"How about we lower Clay Logan, naked and caged, before the cheering throng, instead of a wild opossum? Then we release him into the wild, once we've had our fun with him. Clay's a good sport, I'm sure he'll do it...for the community's sake."

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 7:58

I usually only want to see a movie once but that's one of those movies I can watch once or twice a year. Like Blazing Saddles, Zoolander and Heartbreakers.

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 7:59

Kosh III,

To refresh your memory, I simply quoted Article II, Section 1, paragraph 5 of the US Constitution. Try reading it. It stipulates to be a President you must be a natural born citizen. The only two offices in this nation with those requirements is the President and Vice-President.

You say you have seen his birth certificate. Hell, can't you read very well? It's a proven fake in many places. Some of the types of print were not even known in 1961.

You say his birth announcement was placed in the Hawaii paper. It was placed in both Hawaiian papers at that time... with his grandparents address as his home. His mother and father were never given the same address in Hawaii.

Can you explain why he advertised [for 16 years] of being born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii? Was he "re-born" in Hawaii in 2007 when Bill Ayres convinced him to run for the Presidency in Chicago?

And you say the information I posted that I received through his autobiography writings are lies?

Assuming he was a natural born citizen, by what law did he remain a naturalized citizen when his stepfather adopted him into Indonesian citizenship? What passport did he use in 1981 when he went into Pakistan when Pakistan would not accept American passports?

Why has he refused to identify himself by not presenting any papers to even prove his identity?

But Barry is only one man, Kosh III. Why did congress let him pull this off? Are they with him in their trek for a One World Government through the UN?

Sorry, Kosh III, you and your fellow posters are showing your ignorance on the matter and unless you're fellow communist with him, you're going to find out the hard way.

He was raised in a communist political family on his mother's side and a Muslim family on his father's side. When did he become a Democrat? He claims to be a Christian. Why did he thank Jon McCain for not mentioning his Muslim faith on an interview?

They are many why[s], Kosh III. Good luck on proving me wrong.

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 8:00

You've got it all wrong, loner. This is a celebration of the 'possum not an exploitation. If they'd let the little guy testify he'd have cleared it all up.

By: Rasputin72 on 11/14/12 at 8:03

Gdiafante....Once again your 7:25 again shows your ability to express your opinions with not ony great insight but with a great ability for the craftmanship of clarity in your sentence structure.

I certaiinly can offer no rebuttal to your claims or your post.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 8:03

The possum pleaded the fifth, Ben.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 8:05

Rasp is pumping sunshine up Gd's pant-leg?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/14/12 at 8:08

Lets have lunch Raspy old boy.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/14/12 at 8:09

I'll buy your lunch Rasputin.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 8:10

Anyone know the name of a good dry cleaner?

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 8:10

The Opossum Drop sounds like Marsupial Madness, not a celebration of the species...but hey, it beats running the bulls in Pamplona....and a lot safer too....but hardly as machismo....and they claim that the possum drop is an alcohol-free event?
I gotta ask, what are those folks smoking? I want a bag of that stuff.

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 8:11

I fear now they'll have to club little Peter 'Possum to death and send him to the taxidermist to prepare him for the annual celebration. Dangling by his tail would be a bit more appropriate than a plastic pyramid for a 'possum drop though; so maybe it's for the best.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/14/12 at 8:11

Loner we know that sunshine Rasputin has to offer is a lie or stolen.

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 8:12

To correct an error. In paragraph 6 I posted, "by what law did he remain a natrualizec citizen..." It should have been "a natural born citizen"

By: Rasputin72 on 11/14/12 at 8:13

NEMO......I tried to think of ANYTHING that would be in my self-interest by having lunch with you or anyone whose life philosophy was remotely similar to yours.

I did give it great consideration upon my return to Nashville on the 19th, but there are just too many things in our lives that are polar opposites for there to be any joy from our sharing a luncheon discussion.

Should we say never the "twain" shall meet?

By: Rasputin72 on 11/14/12 at 8:16

LONER, I pump "sunshine" to anyone who has the intellectual ability to express themselves. You may recall that you have received "sunshine from me on occasion.

I have no respect for the intellectually crippled.

Once again I will enjoy the sunshine of my adopted state and bid you and the "Simple Six" goodbye for the day.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 8:19

Poor Yogi, the poor bastard thinks that people actually read his same old rant....bless his heart....we should take pity on the mentally ill, not bully them....one does not need a MD license to see that Yogi is mentally unbalanced and obsessed with the president's legitimacy.....he is probably harmless, but he has bragged about buying ammo....hopefully, that was just false bravado and simply more of his tired BS.

By: BenDover on 11/14/12 at 8:20

See ya' Raspy. Have a nice day.

By: Loner on 11/14/12 at 8:21

Thank you, Mister Sunshine....he's off for a champagne breakfast at his club, no doubt....a little bubbly and a stack of Grey Poupon pancakes makes a hearty breakfast combo....better than cheap gin and a donut....see ya later, Rasp.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/14/12 at 8:22

So what time does your bus arrive, Rasputin.

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 8:23

Grey Poupon is so 1%...Raspy is a 0.001%er...he get's gold seasoning flakes on his caviar...

By: yogiman on 11/14/12 at 8:24

To educate you a little farther, Kosh III. Do a little research on the newspapers policies in 1961 when they showed a child's birth. Nothing had to be proved, just sent in, even from other nations.

So why did his paternal grandmother say she was in the room with his mother when he was born.

Why has his "doctor" never acknowledged himself for the free advertisement? Why has the hospital he claimed to be born in never acknowledged his birth in that hospital for the free advertisement.

Why? Because the hospital he named didn't exist in 1961. There was two hospitals in Hawaii in 1961, they combined in 1971.

Now, was Barry born there in 1961 when the one he claimed didn't exist but he knew they would combine in 1971 and he would give himself as their first born child? (Facetious comment intended)

By: Captain Nemo on 11/14/12 at 8:25

Oh I met with Rat yesterday. The things he had to say about you.LOL

By: gdiafante on 11/14/12 at 8:27

The troll is on a scientific mission...a mission to prove Einstein's theory of insanity as correct. I believe he will be successful.
