What is your reaction to reports that President Barack Obama approved covert operations to support Syrian rebels?

Caution is what Obama and others have been doing in concern with Syria. The covert operation is only one of many tools to use when saber rattling.

dargent7,

Every nation that has/had a dictator take over is, and has been, a nation when their citizens did not have weapons. It's hard to fight someone with club if they have a gun.

The only times when those dictators have been "put down" were by people with weapons, not clubs.

Well, children,

I hope you all have a nice weekend. It should give you a little time to think.

When you "come back to work" on Monday, we will have 90 days left before the next election. You should all gather up all of your dirty handkerchiefs and wash them or go buy a full case of paper towels to keep your eyes dry if your man stays in office. It's going to be interesting.

Just wondering what he meant when he told the Russian President to tell Vladimir to hold off until after the election. What actions was he referring to?

brrrrk, I disagree. It's rated R for Ridiculous.

Oops, the 12:03 post is definitely PG.

I have friends who live in Syria ... educated people who understand what is really happening. They believe that Israel and the US are following a longstanding plan of "divide and conquer."

They also believe that the CIA and Mossad are "helping" the efforts of the rebels, but that few of the rebels have anything to do with democracy. Many of the "rebels" are foreigners, of the Al Qaeda ilk.

So in the rush to get rid of Assad, or leave him with a much smaller tribal region, splintering Syria, it seems the CIA and Mossad are taking the risky gamble of creating new organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah, who will justifiably see the destruction of Syria as the work of Israel and the US.

It is very risky game. It would be much wiser for us to avoid more acts of terrorism like 911 and more unwinnable wars, by simply paying the going price for oil and staying out of Middle Eastern affairs.

But Israel and the US are joined at the hip, and Bibi Netanyahu has become the King who tells Americans when to jump, and how high. It seems that after the founding fathers risked their lives to free themselves of serfdom to King George, the geniuses in our government have decided Americans should be serfs, after all.

Wars in the Middle East do us no good. It would be much less expensive just to pay the asking price for oil, while developing other sources of energy for the future. The only "winner" in all this is Israel, as its leaders can pursue their long-term goal of "returning" to Lebanon and Jordan, and stealing even more land, using American money and American weapons.

Iran, Syria and Lebanon do not want Israel to steal more land from Palestinians, and so they oppose Israel's land-grabbing. If our leaders had brains and courage, they would also oppose the land-grabbing. But as we can see from Romney's visit to Israel, our politicians don't care how many Americans die, or how many trillions of dollars are wasted. All they care about is getting votes and campaign contributions.

At least President Obama tried to stop Israel's expansionism, but he got no support from other American politicians or American voters, so it seems the bloody farce will continue ...

See, Beernazi, we all make mistakes...., don't we?

By: yogiman on 8/2/12 at 3:51

Mike,

Since your friend was telling about the legislatures of the US and Israel being "hand in hand" over the years it might make one wonder why they have lasted together so much over all of these years. I believe the US is giving money galore to Israel today but Congress is getting a lot of it back through campaign donations... from Israel.

It's hard for this old brain of mine to recall much readings, but I remember reading in history years ago about a Jew bailing the US out of bankruptcy when they were about to go under. He didn't give it as a debt and wouldn't take the money back. They then named something after him and I believe there's a figure on a piece of our money designed to honor him and thank him.

The man was Haym Solomon, Mike and I "re-learned" a little about him.

He gave the Nation 25 million to save the nation in their war for independence from England.

George Washington had the 13 stars placed in the right hand circle on the back of our one dollar bill because Solomon said he wanted nothing for himself but would like something for his people (the Jews).

So I think we must presume a Jew saved this nation to gain our freedoms.

Consider now: We have a Muslim in the White House. The Muslims hate the Jews. Won't it be ironic if Barack Obama can take the USA away from us who gained it with the help of a Jew?

The 1st Gulf war, Desert Storm, was 100% bullshit.
The following labels: Desert Fox, Desert Shield, Operation: Iraqi Freedom is Wall St. meets the US military marketing Dept.
The US had NO right to attack Iraq. Baghdad is now pure horseshit. There's a bomb blast every week.
Send that senile McCale's Navy over there. He always finds a soapbox to stand on saying his "surge" worked, and "Iraq is now safe for everyone..."

Syria is a "lose/lose" for us. Either way it turns out, they are a committed enemy of our only ally over there. Carter only lost Iran. ObaMao lost the whole Middle East and did so intentionally. There will be war on a scale we haven't seen in a long time.
