Witticist walks into a PAWH...orders an acronym and a euphemism.

By: slacker on 2/7/13 at 10:50

Loner, I understand your feelings, but the postal service is on a morphine drip.
Other than an elected postmaster.. whats your solution?

By: Loner on 2/7/13 at 10:53

Slack...LOL on your 9:42 post....retired mailmen telling war stories over a brewski....Lord, I have been there.....the dog bite story...the naked housewife at the door story....the getting stuck in the blizzard story...and bitching about the LLV's...the Long Life Vehicles with the short life trannies....and so on.

By: BenDover on 2/7/13 at 11:03

It's the buggy-whips argument... except the buggy-whips have been repurposed by the BDSM crowd.

By: Loner on 2/7/13 at 11:04

Slack: I think that the USPS should raise the rate charged for the Standard Mail...this is tough to do, because lobbying groups for direct mailers have been effective in keeping their voices heard.

Postmasters should be rotated every few years; as it is, they think of their office as a fiefdom....they need to be reviewed annually by their employees and sacked or demoted if found wanting.

The fleet of LLV's is aging and should be replaced with all-electric vehicles where climate permits. These delivery vehicles normally sit for 20 hours a day and deliver the mail for four hours a day...they could be re-charging during that interim...regenerative braking would be a must...most rural routes have over 700 stop & goes per day.

The USPS went on a real estate buying binge in the past decade...grand old Post Offices were razed and/or simply abandoned and new cookie-cutter style ones have sprung up across the country, in most cases, to needlessly replace the old PO's...major capital expenditures of this sort at this time is foolish, IMO.

As I said, an elected PG would go a long way towards fixing the problems.

By: Loner on 2/7/13 at 11:22

The Postal Service is heavily invested in robotics at the GMF's...General Mail Facilities...some, but not all, letter-sized mail is now DPS....Delivery Point Sequenced...Optical Character Readers ...(OCR's).....scan the address line and spray a barcode on the envelope...after that, robots engage in hi-tech sortation to produce the DPS.

The carrier can case the DPS along with the other mail, or take it out as is as an extra tray to pick from all day....that extra tray requires more time and hassle at the delivery point itself, so the time savings are not what one might imagine.

The LLV-based carrier has a flats (magazine format) tray of mail, a hand-sorted letter-sized tray of mail, a parcel & SPO tray of mail and now, the DPS tray of letter-sized mail to check at each and every stop....it's like being a drummer working a trap drum set....first the snare, then the tom-tom, then the cowbell, then the wood block, followed by the cymbal and finally, the bass drum....always in that same order, for accuracy's sake..all that at a fast tempo and driving on the roadside in busy traffic.

By: Loner on 2/7/13 at 11:29

Ben, the the general demand for buggy whips may be diminished, but it is alive and strong in the Amish world....and, as you pointed out, the BDSM market is growing too. In the hedonistic horseplay community, riding crops are preferred to buggy whips.

Rasputin was rather a disappointment today. He must be floundering in yogi’s wake.

By: slacker on 2/7/13 at 11:50

''Swagger sticks'' are coming back.. I hear.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 11:50

All Posts don't gather up the papers and cardboard, budlight. I was referring to my local Post. We're the only Post that does it to my knowledge and not everyone in our Post does it either. I guess that might make us one among none instead of one among many.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 11:54

I suppose all those extra finger and toes came in handy for you Raspy old boy. It is a good thing we stop at 103 post or you would have been lost.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 11:55

gdiafante,

What kind of training did you get if you was in the Marines. Did they teach you to use such vulgar language so often as you do on this site? Is this the language you use with your family... especially your children?

By: slacker on 2/7/13 at 11:57

Collecting tinfoil would bring in more money.. yogi.
You could be the first LARGE contributor... get the ball rolling soldier.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 11:58

BTW
Raspy old boy, I am working in Atlanta for the next two days. Anything you want me to do for your family while I am here?

By: gdiafante on 2/7/13 at 12:00

No, it's the language I use when dealing with f*cktards like yourself.

See what I did there.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 12:01

Referring to your 8:12 post, gdiafante: No, yogi isn't stupid. You are the stupid one. I'll repeat; anyone who accepts someone as their President of this nation when they don't even know who he is is the stupid one/s.

And you can quote me on that.

OMG - This from the poster that can't get his head & brain out of the anal area, as demonstrated by his many comments.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 12:06

We have a real estate broker in town collecting aluminum for a benefit for needing children, slacker. You can drop your empty beer cans off at his office and the more the better.

By: slacker on 2/7/13 at 12:11

Sounds good yogi. If I ever find myself driving through your area, I'll toss a few empty cans out the car window.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 12:13

lol slacker.

By: gdiafante on 2/7/13 at 12:17

Yogi is referring to himself in the third person now...that's a sign of the apocalypse.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/7/13 at 12:32

I think we should drop empty cans out the window next to yogi's mailbox. It'll give him something useful to do.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/7/13 at 12:34

Who's that crazy old man who keeps dropping off litter in front of the hall?

-- The American Legion, Gordonsville

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 12:39

With yogi's lack of knowledge on any subject, except his scrub sites he haunts, I doubt that he has ever been out of Smith Co. for any length of time. The old man (as he probably disrespectfully called his Father) probably left his that little bit of scrub land & he is just trying to exist there. His only entertainment is disrupting this site & starting arguments. Thus, ignoring the troll is the best.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 12:42

Huh? Where is that Hall, B2? The American Legion doesn't have one. That's why we're collecting paper... to build one.

I'm sorry, B2, I didn't know you was so ignorant you didn't even know our Post didn't have a Hall.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 12:48

Well, gotta go to town. Don't throw your cans out on the interstate, slacker. They won't turn them in to Digger when they pick your junk up.

And B2, you can drop yours off at my mailbox. I can pick them up everyday when I go get my mail. Will you have enough beer cans I need need to get a bigger trailer? Oh, and we'll take your coke cans, too.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 12:51

Usually anywhere the American Legion meets, is called a HALL. Of course if yogi was a member of anything, it probably went disfunctional due to the smell.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/7/13 at 12:52

bfra, how short is that little jerk? Everything goes over his head.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 12:54

Blanket - If he is any shorter than his IQ, it would take a magnifying glass to find him.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/7/13 at 2:46

lol

By: dargent7 on 2/7/13 at 3:01

Front page was the USPS lost $15.8 billion last year.
So, if they can save $2.0 billion, what's the issue?
I don't even get Playboy in the mail any longer.
I got 3 Christmas cards last year. Not one birthday card.
TIME stopped their print magazine...soon Newsweek will.
Remember Look and Life magazines?
All bills are paid on-line.
The SF Chronicle likened mail to The Pony Express and the
Telegraph Key.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 3:12

The good news is the trolls have crawled under their bridge.

Raspy has a belief that he is a 1% person. Well that is true. He has 1% of yogi's mental capacity.

By: dargent7 on 2/7/13 at 3:15

One good thing about the US Mail...when you move and change your address with them (they charge you $1.00!), you get a 'Welcome to Your new Home" packet.
In my case it was the state penitentiary.
Mostly useless coupons to shop at Walmart, Costco, and Lowes, but there was a Chase Bank offer to get $150. if you open a new checking account. Did it, and got it in a week.
Not bad.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 3:24

If they stop running the mail, how will I know where I live?

Paul W. Dumas-

By: dargent7 on 2/7/13 at 3:24

..this just in:
Some moron in Clarksville received his W-2 tax form and it was numerically stamped: 666.
He quit his job saying, "either I go to work or to Hell..." "I chose neither".
Must be that brown-green water flowing in the Cumberland.

By: BenDover on 2/7/13 at 3:36

Some NRA worshiping, Beck listening, hick redneck, Rush drone has just gone on a rampage shooting cops our in LA.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/7/13 at 3:54

666

This is one excuse that Raspy never thought of to get out of work. You might want to file that away for later, old boy.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 3:59

Ben - What is that linc for? Looks? :-)

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 4:13

Thankfully we never had you at one of our meetings, bfra, so the smell isn't too bad.

By: yogiman on 2/7/13 at 4:17

Are you jealous of Raspy because he has 1% and you don't have any, dumba$$?

By: dargent7 on 2/7/13 at 4:24

Ex-cop, from LAPD. Fired for "making false statements".
Killed the 1st Chinese American officer who made Cpt. and his fiance.
On the loose in Irvine...they'll find him and when cornered, he'll kill himself.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 4:30

Raspy & yogi run a race for the worst retorts. When you don't have sense evough to know what is going on, that's the chance you take.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 4:31

s/h/b/ "enough"

NEMO......It is almost cocktail time here in the eastern time zone, but I wanted to take the time to thank you for remembering that I have a daugjter on Atlanta.

I appreciate your offer but Buckhead is a rather exclusive area . You riding around with Tenn plates and a blank look on your face would most likely raise a few eyebrows and an introduction to the local police.
I am almost sure that they have already had their gutters cleaned.

I am glad to see that you are working which is more than I can say for your internet friends.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/7/13 at 4:57

LONER.........I reliaze that I am an interloper on your little pulpit and sermonettes to an audience of shutins and internet masturbaters. Unfortunately in everyones life a little rain must fall. Obviously I am your rain drop.

When the villagers are chasing me I realize that is time and internet space that they are not reading one of your epistles.

The phrase and word troll is just another word for what you have been calling the establishment and the ruling class members since the mid sixties.

By: bfra on 2/7/13 at 4:57

Raspy - That's how little you know about Buckhead & shows, that you really don't know anything.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/7/13 at 4:58
