Up for Debate: Dean wants former JCPenney space

Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 11:59pm

How do you feet about Mayor Karl Dean's plan to add more library space, a community center and green space to southeastern Davidson County by purchasing the former JCPenney space at Hickory Hollow mall?

Antioch and Smyrna are not that far from each other. Maybe southeast Davidson county and northwest Rutherford County is Troll country.

It's probably where Serr8 and I part ways. I think we've got too many jails... too many crimes... too many cops... too many courts... too many judges... and too many lawyers.

Ben, there are many differences between you and serr8d. Top of the list you are a decent human being and a mammal. ;-)

Maybe Santa will grant your wish, Ben...have you been a good boy?

Ben I agree, too many prisons...too many dumb-ass laws....too much special interest money and influence in politics. Our criminal justice system is a farce. We share some common ground on all that, perhaps for differing motives.

They have privatized the detention and corrections functions of democratic constitutional governance...the incentive to incarcerate is now financially motivated....the privateers then kick back to the lawmakers, judges etc. for every warm body they can detain. The taxpayer is then billed for these expensive "private enterprise" schemes...it's the Haliburton effect.

The expressed goal of schemes aimed at privatization of government services was cost-cutting.

It's not working out as advertised. Things now cost a lot more, corruption has increased, governmental oversight has vanished and the taxpayer is being robbed, as a direct result of unwise privatization and deregulation schemes.

These privateers in the defense, criminal justice, law enforcement, security, surveillance, detention and incarceration industries are pumping big money into our elections and influencing policy-making, by way of campaign contributions.

Ronald Reagan created this privatization-deregulation monster, Bush-Cheney fed it...now Obama cannot control it...no President can...it's going to destroy the republic, if we can't get the selfish special interest and international corporate money out of US politics.

Reaganomics, the idea of trickle-down wealth distribution, is a sham, a scam and a flimflam....the Republicans are still pushing it, regardless of its record of abject failure to deliver.

The Simple Simons out there want to nominate Herman the Pizza Pie-man...a loyal Koch Brothers operative, trickle-down advocate and an arrogant, power-abusing, horny dog...for President of the USA. Incredible.

De-regulation and privatization might work in Heaven, on this planet ...as we are now witnessing....it fails miserably.

Human nature is the culprit; good governance and sensible regulations can keep the dark-side of human nature at a manageable level; when that happens, we all benefit.

Prophetic wisdom from Wikipedia:

The rhyme is as follows;

Simple Simon met a pieman,
Going to the fair;
Says Simple Simon to the pieman,
Let me taste your ware.

Says the pieman to Simple Simon,
Show me first your penny;
Says Simple Simon to the pieman,
Indeed I have not any.

Simple Simon went a-fishing,
For to catch a whale;
All the water he had got,
Was in his mother's pail.

Simple Simon went to look
If plums grew on a thistle;
He pricked his fingers very much,
Which made poor Simon whistle.

Serr8d and the folks riding the "Cain Train" may believe that plums grow on thistles and that whales can fit in a pail...."Crazy Train", comes to mind:

It's worth the wait through the brief ad before the video starts...that's capitalism for you.

Ozzy is hopeful...even optimistic: "Maybe it's not too late, to learn how to love and forget about hate".

The Tea Party's Crazy Train - the Cain Train - is headed in the opposite direction that Ozzy was going.

Say what you will about Government being bad, but the fact is that we have the ability to
investigate and have oversight over government programs. And if we see problems, the programs can either be fixed or completely done away with. Once those very same programs become privatized, oversight and the ability to investigate quite frankly disappears... there is no real "accountability". Privatization is nothing more than tossing money down a black hole. Having the ability to investigate private industries is damned near impossible and is often only possible with the help of a whistle blower; who by the way, are then demonized by the right.

I gotta start packing it up...put a few hours into posting, now it's time to grab my sign and occupy Albion....HOLY WARS SUCK....it's my all-purpose protest sign, which I have recently modified with a telescopic pole, to get added height...I added some reflective yellow tape to the pole...I'm toying with the idea of illuminating the two sided sign from within, using LED battery-powered hardware. It's 11x17 (17 vertical) with only those 12 letters...readable from fifty feet away, or so....any bigger and the wind becomes a factor, with a telescopic pole, it fits in the trunk....Color? black text on yellow...laminated card stock....black pole w/yellow bands.

This dirty old hippie just can't wait to defecate on a police cruiser, urinate on the lawn and expose myself and/or publicly masturbate...while smoking a joint and selling cocaine. And raping a deaf man, did I mention raping a deaf man?

Sorry folks, I went over to the dark-side.... Koch and Bloomberg are paying Top Dollar for agents provocateur...they loved my resume. I need the scratch.

See ya!

Great link Loner. Crazy Cain.

What I appreciate, is people like Gingrich saying, "Reagan had it all together..."
As if 2009 when Obama took office resembles 1988.
Reganomics would work in 2012. "Getting back to our principles..."
When's the last time anyone in Washington mentioned Russia or The Soviet Union?
Now, it's always Iraq, Afghanistan, and recently, Pakistan.
Iran is the new, "bad guy".
"Just gotta bomb them in my first 100 days in office..." Perry.
And he would.

Before heading out :

Flash news alert:

Bad news for Cain, a fourth woman accuser has come forward and has gone totally public:

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-cain-allred-accuser-20111107,0,1387814.story

The man is a creep...the crystal balls were spot on.

By: bfra on 11/7/11 at 3:17

Cain must not have paid his NAACP dues or they would have already put the cover up on all of this.

By: judyboodo@yahoo.com on 11/7/11 at 4:34

A few thoughts; 1, I see a Cain/Gingrich ticket, Cain has the charisma & Newt knows where the skeletons are in D.C., Nobody cares about old harassment claims, Cain's hopes will hinge on being able to make 999 work with the numbers. 2, Dean is paying back someone at HH. How much could it have been bought for at auction? 3, Dargent7 has been off his med's way to long. 4, Are the books in the HH library going to be in spanish? 5, What do you people do all morning besides past here? 6, Back to politics, if they are talking about you they are scared of you. Cains out of the box, the usual suspects don't like that, he makes it hard on them, just like R. Paul.

By: dargent7 on 11/7/11 at 5:21

JudyBoBo: Thanks for weighing in.
I think many of us have Internet access at work.
I do.
The penitentary allows 1 hour a day for "rehabilitation".
I choose the NCP as my target audience.

Good choice D7, I suspect many on this board relate to subtle nuances of prison sex life.

Evening wrap-up...

Judyboody is standing by her man, she wrote: "Cains out of the box, the usual suspects don't like that, he makes it hard on them, just like R. Paul."

Judy said "hard on"; was that a Freudian slip? Cain is certainly out of the pizza box, Judy.

Ron Paul is the least frightening, most honest, most experienced and sanest of the GOP hopefuls....ergo, he stands no chance.

According to accuser number 4, Herman the Pie-man nudged her pie-hole towards his pepperoni, so to speak, in exchange for his help in securing employment...if that isn't job-related sexual harassment, then what is it?

Apparently, Herman is a habitual abuser of power...and considering his statements, he is either a liar, or delusional.

If these allegations are true, Herman Cain's clumsy sexual predation has failed at least 4 times...how many women did succumb to his power-plays over the years? How many are still too intimidated to come forward?

The pious, pompous Pie-man is supposed to be a family values man...he appears to be a phony...a fake family values man. Seems Cain is cattin' around, looking for love in all the wrong places...still, folks like Judyboody think that Cain has presidential qualities.

Go ahead, please nominate Herman Cain...President Obama will slice him up, like an eight-piece pepperoni pizza.

My crystal balls indicate that this is not the last of it for poor Herman Cain.

The chickens are coming home to roost...and the old rooster isn't so cocksure these days...his flight feathers have been plucked; he can't fly the coop....Colonel Sanders is stalking the aging chanticleer....there's no place for this cocky fowl to hide, the cameras are everywhere.

Cain's fat is in the fryer...will that be regular, or extra crispy, Mister Cain?

For Romney and Perry, this is finger-lickin' good.

How about giving the much deserved METRO POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT a damn raise since they haven't had one (including a cost of living raise) in the past 3 (almost 4) years? It just ain't right to treat them the way the city is treating them!

Metro can't afford to give them a raise...or put more fire personnel (including ambulances) and police on the streets...but we can afford a new convention center our city DID NOT NEED, all these stupid friggin' greenways, fireworks displays in July, and NOW more libraries that run in the millions and millions and millions of dollars???

It would be VERY warranted for these city employees to say enough is enough and go on strike and even better if people move out of Davidson county because of lack of protection and response from emergency personnel.

Good lord Dean is the KING at misappropriating Metro money!

I love to hear the ridiculously convaluted opinions of people like dargent7 because it fortifies my belief that as long as people like him are the ones supporting and voting for Obama in 2012, that Obama doesn't have a prayer in winning another term! lol
