Up for Debate: DesJarlais testimony revelations

Monday, November 19, 2012 at 12:38am

What's your reaction to the Scott DesJarlais revelations in the testimony transcripts released last week? Would their release have changed the outcome of his re-election had they come out prior to Election Day?

No. He won by 30+ points.

By: BenDover on 11/19/12 at 3:13

Actually I must have been remembering early results for the race... turns out it was only 10 points.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 4:37

It only takes one point, BenDover. At least, unlike Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama, he did it legally.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 4:55

gdiafante,

To renew the post I made yesterday in case you didn't see it:

In the 2008 presidential race, "Barack Obama" raised the question of John McCain's eligibility based on his natural born status because he was born in Panama.

The Senate held a session to question McCain on his natural birth status and he readily presented his birth certificate. On that evidence, they determined he was a natural born citizen because BOTH of his parents were American citizens

Yet they never questioned Obama because he refused to answer any questions on the issue of his parents or demanded he offer any proof of his legal eligibility. What base was he accepted as being in that race legally? I've never been able to find out.

And, by the way, Obama was the initiator of that session and co-signed that decision with the Senate. So what evidence did they use to convince themselves he was legally eligible with only one parent (his mother) as an American citizen?

By: Ask01 on 11/19/12 at 5:09

I believe, unless his constituents as as sleazy as Mr. DesJarlais, professing one belief while practicing another, and taking lightly, even ignoring, commitments, the outcome of the elections would have had to altered.

Otherwise, those voting for Mr. DesJarlais are no more trustworthy or credible than he. That being the case, maybe they deserve each other.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 5:17

Ask01,

I hate to say it, but how many congressmen do you know that your can find absolutely trustworthy?

May I make a suggestion on the "Obama" issue? Go to www.wnd.com/2012/10/americas-last-election/

Of all the issues I've read from Ellis Washington, I've never found him to be a BSer.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 5:37

So Scott DesJarlais is a "no-gooder", like so many other elected officials in the government branches you often read about. Why should only he be asked to resign?

After all, the only two major things they have thrown at him in his belief in abortion (which is simply following Barack Obama on that issue) and a little bit of gambling (like so many other politicians). So he should resign? The people of his district voted him in office, is that telling them they "screwed up" bad?

By: bfra on 11/19/12 at 5:39

It just shows that repubs don't care who they vote for, just so the person claims to be a repub. Morales, ethics, reputations or class don't count, just so they are repubs.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 6:46

On your basis, are they any different than the Dumbocraps, bfra?

By: govskeptic on 11/19/12 at 6:52

bfra:

You are exactly right, those mean ole Republicans have adopted the Democratic
Women's caucus on what's important to measure when casting a vote.
So, the Congressman and his ex-wife exercised "choice" in those two
instances, I'd think you'd be glad for them and their Court given rights.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 7:03

What a joke. Are you kidding bfra, govskeptic?

But a little positive info I just read: I'm sure all of you have been taught of the 3 letters to remember about a stroke; S-smile, T-talk a simple sentence and R-raise both arms. The medical profession has added a new one: Another S, stick out your tongue.

And no, it's not sassing at you, bfra. They say if the tongue goes to either side of their mouth to call emergency right away because after one of the '4' "letters" is noticed, if action is taken asap the person has a much better chance of being pulled out of it.

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 7:06

Yogi, the matter is settled.

As far as Desjarlais, people will sacrifice certain moral standards in order for bragging rights.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 7:17

gdiafante,

The matter will not be settled until "Obama" is tried for treason to this nation. He has proven himself Constitutionally ineligible for that office. At your age, for you and your children, you had better hope the hell it happens soon before we are taken into communism... with the help of congress by him.

Are you familiar with his "civilian army" when he went in office? I suggest you check out
"fema corps first responders" through google or bing and compare them to Hitler's "young" army.

Why do you think he's been reducing our military services in personnel?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 7:28

What I find disturbing is that both Ben and yogi only see his win as important and not the un-Republican morals liking in the man. As for if this revolution had come sooner is only speculation.

LOL gov and bfra.

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 7:31

What part about tangible evidence do you not understand, yogi? I gave you three specific legal points that you have to refute in order for your position to be valid. Just three...I don't want to hear about rumors, innuendo, conspiracy theories or any other internet BS...just prove my three points wrong. It's as simple as that.

Now, you've had over the weekend and judging by your responses, you can't (which is consistent with reality), so the matter is settled.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 7:35

You are are wasting time Gdia, just (click) and go on living. The dead man is in his last gasp.

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 7:37

Nemo, have you seen some of the crazy behavior by these people? One woman ran over her husband, one guy killed himself, people hanging the flag upside down, signing secession petitions...people need to take a breath, then turn off Fox News. That's the real problem.

These people are being fed such incredible things...and they're believing it...In my opinion, Fox has done more to damage this country than either party's spending habits during the last 20 years.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 7:37

I know it sounds ridiculous, dumba$$, but why does this nation have two different major parties? I know we have several, but the two major ones. Isn't this nation of the people, by the people and for the people? Why is one group so much more special than the others?

Oh, I understand the differences between you and I, but not the the major differences in the entire nation. I've never know of a politician that wasn't admired by some and hated by others... especially those in the "other" party.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 7:41

FOX and it's stooges will get what they will get in do time.

By: Loner on 11/19/12 at 7:42

Good morning, Nashville.

What's your reaction to the Scott DesJarlais revelations in the testimony transcripts released last week?

Mr. DesJarlais is a bigger hypocrite and creep than we originally thought. As a physician he committed several egregious ethics violations; we can hardly expect the man to be honest and forthcoming as an elected official.

Would their release have changed the outcome of his re-election had they come out prior to Election Day?

I doubt it. Tennessee is so red, so conservative, so anti-liberal that the electorate would have elected him, regardless of his tainted record and glaring character flaws.

Now that the tea-baggers have a super-majority in the TN state govt. the agenda will be to roll back all human rights, civil rights, GLBT rights, worker's rights, children's rights, animal rights ....all sorts of rights.....except the right to keep and bear arms....and states rights...keep yer powder dry!

Go out and buy a coonskin cap....put a rebel decal on your vehicle....for camouflage...protective coloration....the right-wingers are on a lib-hunt and its open season - no bag limit. Stay safe, my liberal friends....seek cover....lay low.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 7:50

Sorry again, gdiafante,

The real problem is the people backing a man who is in that office illegally.

You gave 3 "tangible evidence" pieces. That session of the Senate on Obama's question should be all the evidence you need in your "one piece of evidence". He's the one that initiated the session about McCain's Constitutional legality. He co-signed their decision. He refused to answer any questions.

How much evidence do you need, him admitting it out of his mouth and you hearing him when he says it?

As I've 'posted' before, I'm no "master" on this computer. If I was, I believe I have all the "evidence" you would need to convince you (but then, yeah, I'm not sure). I just don't know how to forward it from the way I receive it. I will go back through it and see if I can find some more articles I have I might be able to forward the source by my "expertise".

By the way, want to see a good show? As you might know, I do know how to forward 'youtube'. Check out: youtube.com/watch?v=QvnHI1K4cIE&feature=em-share_video_user/

A good laugh for this morning.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 7:57

I'm curious, Loner,

Why do you think the electorate should have overridden the popular vote at our state level because of their "error", but they shouldn't over override an obvious mistake at the national level? Wouldn't it just be a correction if they overrode the questionable popular vote?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 8:00

Now for an intelligent man and one with a sense of humor;

http://newyork.newsday.com/news/region-state/chris-christie-ducks-twinkie-hostess-strike-question-watch-video-1.4232837

You just got to admire this man. lol

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 8:06

He maybe the GOP's only hope.

You, sir, are a liar. You've proven on many instances that you are quite able to post various websites, news stories, articles, opinion pieces or forward/copy and paste chain emails. You are not as electronically inept as you always claim to be when pressed for proof. That's an excuse I would expect from a child.

Again, this issue is closed.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 8:21

I wish the hell I was lying about that, gdaifante. I know i can sometimes "do it" but not always. But then, you can learn a little bit more every day and maybe I've found a different way this morning

Go through 'bing' or 'google' and type in "berg-v-obama-kweli-shuhubia-affidavit". It should show
Kweli's remark it on the top spot

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 8:35

You are lying and have used this "defense" each and everytime I push you for proof and as I've stated, it's childish.

FYI: I asked for proof, not heresay. Once again, the matter is closed.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 8:39

How much "proof" do you need when the Senate session was shown to the public?

Another little "piece" of evidence. Yep, it's youtube.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4WsG9H8eh0/

Why did Hawaii use a different affidavit?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/19/12 at 8:42

gdia you are being baited by an idiot troll.

Go on with your life.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 8:45

Maybe you could give me a lesson this morning, gdiafante. How do you italianize some words and make some words blacker on your computer. Might save me a lot of "quotation" marks.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 8:50

You know, it's funny. Y'all can make any comment against me you think, and it's true; even though you obviously don't know what you're "saying", so you're right.

But if I make a comment, I must prove it or I'm wrong. Odd world, isn't it? One's right and the other is wrong.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 8:52

"italianize"? What a moron.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 8:52

One is FACT and the other is RUMOR. You are an idiot, yogi.

By: Loner on 11/19/12 at 8:58

Yogi quickly turned what could have been a useful discussion into a free-for-all of name-calling and hate....the guy is poisonous to the atmosphere here and he knows it...he enjoys fouling the air - that is the very definition of a troll.

This board stinks.

I'll be working other BINGO cards this morning...here's one:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57551631/israels-assault-on-palestinian-militants-in-gaza-takes-rising-toll-on-civilians/#postComments

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 8:59

Yes, he's an idiot, blanket. He can't refute what I posted, so now he's scrambling, grasping at air. It's fun to watch...

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 9:03

Nemo, I"m choosing to engage with the troll. I think it's about time we address this nitwit and the phoney accusations he posts. Everyone knows he's a fool, I just plan to show how deep the rabbit hole goes.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 9:04

The problem is when you confront him with facts, he suddenly can't tell the difference between facts and rumors. All links are not created equal - lol!

By: Loner on 11/19/12 at 9:10

I choose not to go down that troll hole, thanks anyway.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 9:13

Haven't you ever read the dictionary, B2? Try it, you might like it.

According to my, italianize means "to act Italian": to follow the style or technique of recognized Italian painters. To make Italian (as in appearance or or behavior).

I guess I went to school earlier than you and learned a different language.

By: dargent7 on 11/19/12 at 9:15

Buenos Noches, or something like that....
Obama won this time around agaist a more formidable opponent, more decisively.
330 electoral to 206.
And the popular. Even Florida.
Those clinging to the "Birther" definitions are sociopathic.
Obama will have completed his 2nd term, built his Library, stocked it with books, and embarked on a worldwide speaking tour rivialing Clinton.
In contrast, look what GW Bush has done in the past 4 years.
One speech at a military base.
Even the GOP Covention didn't want him to show his face.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 9:19

The word you're looking for is "italicize." You would not "italianize" what you are typing on the page. Geezzzz......are you really that incredibly stupid?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 9:25

If you really intend to "italianize" something, you may want to start with, "Yo, Vinnie" or "forgeddaboutit."

By: gdiafante on 11/19/12 at 9:28

It's his attempt to change the subject, blanket. Let's summarize (in my best Italian)

I have definitive proof of my assertions but can't post them because I don't know the correct HTML codes, so fugeddaboutit.

Is that about right?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 9:30

That's pretty good, g.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/19/12 at 9:32

That manicomio is persistent.

By: parnell3rd on 11/19/12 at 9:33

I find it interesting how our President does not have time to sit down with his party, cabinet, or world leaders to discuss problems. But, he does have time to hang out with teenage girl athelets taking pictures and making faces.
Oh, onto the topic.
Q. how can you tell when a politicion is lying?
A. His or Her lips are moving!

By: parnell3rd on 11/19/12 at 9:33

Sorry Teenage Lady Athelets!

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 9:35

Let me repeat a point, Loner. You all call me wrong and want all kinds of proof to prove I'm right. Yet "your" president refuses to even identify himself (which is all I've asked for) and you all are so willing to accept his refusal. May I ask why you so readily accept a man in that office when you don't even know his legal name, or if he is Constitutionally eligible for that office by his place of birth?

I have seen several youtube suggestions on this site so I assume you all accept youtube as accurate. I'm going to look through my "file" and post what I have in "youtube". And as you know, each youtube post has later "shows". On one, may I suggest you listen to Michelle Obama make her referral to taking "shots" to visit Obama's home country of Kenya?

To start, here's 2:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE9mZCRX2mg&feature=endscreen/
" " " " unmS_vVLPxw/

Good shows.

By: yogiman on 11/19/12 at 9:37

Well, this thing didn't give me my spaces. The "u" should start under the "X'.

By: treehugger7 on 11/19/12 at 9:40

How do you know when you are on a Nashville site? No one can spell or string together a reasonable sentence. I would like to be Italinized!
