Who do you foresee running for and eventually taking over the state Senate seat soon to be vacated by Sen. Douglas Henry?

The good Senator's last primary opponent will certainly be hungry for it, as well
as every council member that lives within that district. Maybe Jeff Wood will
jump in as well.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 5:39

I think that govskeptic has said it all. Now as the time nears we will see just how the new candidates turn out. The only Republican candidate I see that has a chance to win, is Councilwoman Evens. She is a good person and will be hard to beat.

Good morning, Nashville.

Wow...this Henry character has never had a real job in his entire life, or so it appears...he became a politician in 1955 and has never really worked since then....this incumbent's incumbent has sat on his ass for nearly sixty years....virtually unopposed, except by a recent primary challenge, which he weathered....then the re-gerrymandered the District to keep it even safer.

This relic goes back to the old Dixiecrat days, when the Democratic Party was the party of Jeff Davis and the GOP was the party of Lincoln....Tricky Dick pulled of the Great Switcheroo in 1968....somehow, Henry survived the purge(s).

After nearly six decades in the sleaziness of TN politics, Henry must be guilty of some measure of inexplicable enrichment.....it would be difficult to believe that his hands are clean....I mean, how much does a TN politician make? Of course, the answer is, not that much...so, before this guy rides off into the sunset...let's audit his @ss....just to be sure.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 6:45

Hate to see him go. One of the last of a dying breed. A morally balanced fiscally conservative Democrat.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 7:06

I like Senator Henry. He's done a good job.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 7:17

Loner, Henry has done good for his district as well for the rest of the State. Yes he old and from a different era, but over all he is a good man. I will miss him and I hope he has a long life still.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 7:19

Well, if Ben Dover likes the guy, perhaps I should reconsider my appraisal.

As an outsider...no dog in the hunt...my initial instincts tell me that anyone who has been a professional state politician for 60 consecutive years must have some skeletons in the closet...in this fellows case, that closet might also contain a white muslin garment with a pointy hood...with eye-holes.... alongside the furled-up Stars & Bars.

I'm sure that this godly man has repented; but in 1955, Southern Democrats were doing the devil's work.....Jim Crow was alive and well. Senator Henry was first elected in 1955, I doubt that he was big fan of integration, voters rights, civil rights or even human rights at the time.....prove me wrong on that, Ben, if you can.

A survivor like Henry has to be able to adapt to changes in the environment...he did.

Sadly, Senator Byrd and others could not shake off the old racist label....can any of these relic Southern Democrats be forgiven for their original sins?

By: Rasputin72 on 5/9/13 at 7:25

LONER........You got in right with your first post.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 7:34

Well, if Ben Dover, Captain Nemo, Blanketnazi and even Govskeptic like the guy, then maybe I should simply back off?

Nothing personal against Mister Henry...it's just that a sixty-year career as a politician sounds fundamentally un-American....that's not what the Founders had in my, in my opinion.

So, what will the voters demand? What will they settle for in Henry's replacement?

Since royal families are so popular in the Old South....I mean the aristocratic tradition is so ingrained....that the son or daughter of Henry would probably be elected virtually unopposed....that chip off the old block could keep the seat in the Henry family until the cloned original is old enough to run for that seat.

Cloning the Great Leader...oh yeah, there will be a demand for that....the North Koreans may have already achieved that....Tennessee is ready for the Cloned Great Leader too?

Here's the text for your signage:

Clone Douglas Henry

Start manning your signs on the streets of Nashville...Good Luck.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 7:36

Wow loner... you sure are bein' contrary this mornin' ... lol

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 7:41

Hmmmm.....if the Rasp says that my original instincts were right, I may have erred....as Ayn Rand might say: "Re-examine your premises."...ain't that right, Ben?

Rasp, f you got dirt on Henry....spill the beans....(mixed metaphor for diversity's sake).

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 7:47

Ben, my maternal-based genetics left me with a strong Contrarian gene....something highly prized in the old country...East Prussia. It's in their blood.

Thankfully, my paternal-based genetics left me with a strong Kum-Ba-Yah gene...this offsets the off-putting Contrarian gene...but not always.

Some kind bud should take the edge off the caustic commentary...that and another latte...gimme ten minutes....

By: Rasputin72 on 5/9/13 at 8:03

LONER.........Again you are correct. Anytime you and I agree, one of us has erred. In this case your low income and welfare friends think it was you.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 8:08

Loner, I doubt he knows a single thing about Henry. He just needs to be contrary so that someone will argue with him. He has nothing of substance to say and this is the only way he gets attention.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 8:20

Well, Loner, me boy, how in the cornbread hell could you have a justified character assignation of a man whom you know nothing about? I didn't know you knew so much a bout Tennessee politicians. Do they equal your New York political crooks?

By: budlight on 5/9/13 at 8:21

I agree; Henry is to be liked as well as respected. But I am changing the subject to left bfra know how I feel about the post that he/she/it posted:

By: budlight on 5/8/13 at 5:34
bfra on 5/8/13 at 3:01
I am finding it hard to believe that for 10 yrs., that is the only time 1 of the 3 had a chance to escape.

Ask Elizabeth Smart and Jaycee Dugart about "chances to escape" and get back with me bfra. Captivity for Jaycee was horrendous and she had 2 children. Who knows what the perp said and did; kept her in his backyard in a tent. And Elizabeth Smart was walking the streets with her captor - scared to death. You have never walked in their shoes. How dare you "find it hard to believe". How dare you. They were CHILDREN when they were taken - CHILDREN who were brainwashed by 40 something year old perps. Good grief. Man. One of these guys was friends with the child's father and they all helped to "search". What are you thinking? Adults can be scared into submission, so how easy was it for the perps to scare these young girls?

And dollars to donuts that these 50 something year old men didn't just start this pattern in their 40's; they replaced some older models with these younger ones - probably - when they kidnapped these children 10 years ago. Don't be so harsh till you or YOUR CHILD walks in their shoes.

By: Jughead on 5/9/13 at 8:22

Lord, I see the pathetic crew of unemployed, welfare-dependant liberal dames have assembled here again. Guys, make sure you comb your vagina hairs before heading out to use your AFDC cards.

Serious losers. Just look at yourselves--sit around all day massaging each others' virtual private parts so that you feel like you really matter in the world. You do not.

By: Jughead on 5/9/13 at 8:22

By: budlight on 5/9/13 at 8:22

and to let D7 know how I feel:

By: budlight on 5/8/13 at 5:39
D7, I totally forgive Billy boy Clinton for committing adultry in the Oval office. And I forgive Sanford. Bill continued to Preside over the oval office. Personally I think Sanford should have stayed also. After all if a democrat in the highest office can do it, why not a Republican in a State office?

Remember what's good for the democrat is good for the republican. Everyone loves a repented sinner - except hypocrites, that is! Which one are you?

I agree with you Loner that something should be done to prevent children from finding guns. But outlawing them is not the answer. My own husband was shot in the neck at close range by his cousin. Hunting accident. Husband forgave cousin and husband moved forward to have a wonderful life - still respecting guns. Cousin, on the other hand was basket case - ran away to a life style of very dangerous behavior and died in early 40's of a preventable disease. Sad. Very sad.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 8:23

Well, as my dearly departed, East Prussian momma would say at this point..."Rasp, shit or get off the pot." (She was not one to mince words.)

If you have some reason to go against the consensus here, please elaborate.....otherwise, I'll have to conclude that Bn is right...you got nuthin'...just want some attention.

Blow the whistle, spill the beans, rain on their parade, burst their bubble.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 8:37

You should look into Billy Boy's legal background before you consider him a good president, budlight.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 8:39

Raspy and the minor troll are lonely trolls in need of attention. lol

By: Rasputin72 on 5/9/13 at 8:39

LONER.........My disagrement is not whether he is a crook. I am assuming that he is. My
disagreement is that his support lseems to lie with everything I find abominable. This of course includes you, your friends with an undeserving portion of welfare and any other liberal and and other liberal who believes all men are created equal (with my money)

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 8:40

Time will tell pretty soon, Loner, but it looks like your man Barry is about to go out the back door. Unlike Richard Nixon, whose actions didn't take a life, and thinking of his dictatorial power, Barry may not volunteer; but congress has got to wake up or they will go out the door with him at the next election. I can't see Lamar Alexander keeping that office, and Bob Corker has "fallen in line" with him.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 8:42

Sorry, I didn't mention Barry's hullabaloo. I was "talking" about the Benghazi incident where the four men got killed when help was denied.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 8:43

I do not always recognize posts from known trolls, but when I do, I prefer posts like this:

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:20

Well, Loner, me boy, how in the cornbread hell could you have a justified character assignation of a man whom you know nothing about? I didn't know you knew so much a bout Tennessee politicians. Do they equal your New York political crooks?

Not sure what a "justified character assignation" is....don't speak that dialect.

I know a lot about TN politicians...I have been a regular poster here at the NCP since 2004..maybe earlier....I'd wager that I am more knowledgeable about TN politics than a majority of TN natives.

I use Google and Wikipedia to get the low-down on the high and mighty. It's a global village. I post all over the globe.

As for NY politicians, we like royal family idea too...we have Andrew...Son-of-Mario Cuomo...sitting in the Governor's mansion....we elected Hillary...Wife-of-Bill....Clinton... as the US Senator from NY state. we like nepotism and carpet-baggers.....oh yeah, NY has similar issues that we must deal with....I do what I can here too.

Here is a link to my local newspaper; the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle:

There...now any of you folks can play the same role that I do...the outside opinion-giver....the one who can see the forest, not just the trees.

Stay connected, my friends.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 8:50

Jugs pops in for his daily affirmation. Sadly all the pump you up, "I'm special" talk in the world is no match for clinical deficiencies in intellect and, presumably, sexual vitality.

I wonder if 'jugs' is a clue to some weird attachment disorder where his mommy cut him off from the teats when he was 5 or 6 years old and now he blames the society for these harsh and arbitrary rules of conduct?

13 Benghazis That Occurred on Bush’s Watch Without a Peep from Fox News

By: Jughead on 5/9/13 at 8:56

BentOverForAlGore uses really big words. Everyone give him a virtual high-five! He's special in this forum and needs some virtual support since he---like the rest of you losers--has no life.

I've never seen a bigger group of pathetic chumps. Did even ONE of you ever consider getting a job?

Do you think your stupid posts have any relevance outside of your virtual self-indulgent liberal orgy?

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 8:59

I like your theory, Ben.....Mammary Deprivation 20-20...or MD 20-20...Mammary Deprivation in the 20 week to 20 month period... has been scientifically proven to cause mental dysfunction.....things like alcoholism etc.

MD 20-20 sucks!

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 9:02

I'm sittin' on a 7 figure net worth and wifey & I knock down over a quarter million a year Juggy.

How's 2nd shift at the J.C. Penny's working out for ya?

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 9:06

Take a gander at who is calling us all "losers"....Mister Bile-for-Brains....the Hillbilly with the Irascibility Disability.

...and they wonder why I post here....it's the shitz & giggles.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 9:10

And btw... there's no bigger critic of Al Gore on this forum than me, you moron.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 9:17

The Bud is kickin' in, Ben.

The Jug works outside the main store...he's a shopping cart cowboy....rounding up the strays...keepin' the herd together....nipping any stampede's in the bud....watching out for rustlers, those homeless bandits who prey on the herd....it's a tough job, Ben...give the boy some slack.....a cartboy's work is never done.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'.....The parking lot is swollen....Keep them carts a movin'....Raw Deal!!!..Don't try to understand it....Save those carts from the bandits...Raw Deal!! Raw Deal!!! Yahhh!! (Bullwhip sound effect here)

By: dargent7 on 5/9/13 at 9:23

Stupid "Question of the Day"....a better one is that two Tenn. Boy Scout troops OPPOSE lifting the ban on "gays"...
Or, how was the Rolling Stones concert in San Jose' last night? AWFULL.
Charlie Watts is 72 and has rhumetoid arthritus.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:26

Loner, to educate you a little, the meaning was: To assassinate a person's character you should know what you're talking about to justify your comments.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:28

Oh, by the way, Loner, Hillary is also in on the Benghazi situation with Barry.

By: dargent7 on 5/9/13 at 9:33

Billy Boy's backround? How about a Rhodes Scholar? Oxford graduate. Then Yale Law school. Twice elected President of the USA.
Like Obama, "self-made"....dad died when he was 2. Both were not born into privilege...like Bushie and Mittens.
You Repubs DO NOT respect higher education. Period.
You want Obama's SAT scores and college transcripts?
I don't remember you asking for Nixon's or GW Bush's.
.....and would someone PLEASE report this complete vulgar ass-hole known as Jughead? His posts are incindary, vulgar, and pointless.
What's this constant, "Balls" post?
Get him OFF this board.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:33

Screwing things up is one thing, B2, getting 4 men killed is another. Especially when you deny them help when they call for it and go "campaign money looking" the day after they die.

And Barry and Hillary have both denied knowing anything the three whistle blowers have given; and I understand it hasn't stopped yet.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 9:34

Let's indulge in the username attack game...for a moment

As for BenDover.... BentOverForBush? Yes.....BentOverForAlGore? No.

Jughead is a cracked pot....a cracked chamber pot......fecal-leaking pottery....missing a few shards....for you sailors, Jughead is an overflowing ship's head...that's the "head" part of Jughead's username.

There, that felt good....rather primal.

Now, for Karmic balance: Loner, Boner, Stoner, Goner,...and of course, Loser.

And that felt virtuous.

Love this site.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:38

I'm ahead of you on Al Gore, DenDover. I knew him and his family before he ever got into politics. He won his House seat on his daddy's name and that was his starting point.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 9:39

Ahhh... he's lashing out 'cause we are laying bare some ugly wounds loner. There's this great cognitive dissonance that comes about from the contrast between his self-perception and his yet unfulfilled destiny of greatness. Reminding him of Mammy's mammaries likely opened up some long repressed Oedipus trauma.

And they you come in with a bum wine coup de grâce by bringing up the Mogen David... you are the ice-man loner. Poor little juggie's huddled up in a corner trying to find someone to call the assistant housewares manager for him to let them know he won't be at work today.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 9:48

Darge, the Jug is a volunteer whipping-boy, when he's not performing his cart-boy duties....willing submissives who present themselves to the board so openly and provocatively are rare....let the masochists get some enjoyment from this site too.

The Jug is asking for it....presenting himself for verbal flagellation...if we don't do it, somebody else will....go ahead, give the boy a good thwack on his rosy-red intellectual ass-cheeks...he loves it.

By: Jughead on 5/9/13 at 9:53

Hahahahahaha---BentOverUpTheAzzFromAlGore-----is married and makes 250k per year?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! That's HILARIOUS coming from a moron who sits on his computer all day posting stupid and incoherent diatribes a maggot infested forums.

Thanks for the laugh, BentDick. At least Boner admits he's on welfare and smokes dope all day.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 9:54

If you're such a fan of Billy Boy, check him out and explain why he refused to report for duty when he was called in after he registered in his young days.

By: dargent7 on 5/9/13 at 9:56

Jug-H has progressed from "balls", to "vaginas", to "dicks", to "boners".
As Freud would say, "Just plain nuts"....
Get rid of this scum.

By: dargent7 on 5/9/13 at 10:00

Yogi: Because he was in COLLEGE. Get it? Getting a degree to become a lawyer.
Not enlisting in some ass-backward, bullshit war in Vietnam. Getting his legs blown off.
And "4 people were killed" in Hllary's Bengazi...
Can you count to 4,900 that were killed in Bush's bullshit, lied about, oil driven war in Iraq?

By: Jughead on 5/9/13 at 10:04

Once again, ladies, it has been a pleasure. But, I must head off to work so you will have welfare money for the weekend.

Don't panic--I'll be back tomorrow to point out your flaws. As always, love puddles. And, do not forget about the personal grooming I previously mentioned. You do not want to be embarrassed when you are deloused at the public health department.

Carry on without me, ignorant and unproductive soldiers.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 10:10

Tell us Juggie... after your EIC credit and standard deductions... how much do you pay in these, taxes about which you complain so much?

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 10:51

Just had a call from Captain Nemo...he's on the road..I filled him in on the board-talk....he's one of the good guys...very hard-working...wonderful father figure.
