With Facebook shares on the verge of going public, what's your take on the company, its chief Mark Zuckerberg and all of the data amassed by the social network?

Right, because (1) health care costs are not out of control, (2) deregulation has worked wonders on our economy (3) no one complains when the global oil market increases and gas gets close to $4/gallon.

Too bad that neither party really wants to deal with the issues directly.

By: BenDover on 5/15/12 at 7:54

If the bond markets didn't know we have a history of self-correction in America we'd be totally f*cked.

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 7:57

Loner,

If Barry was in that office legally, you wouldn't have hear a word from me on the issue of his illegality. But just going my his autobiography says he is not in that office legally.

So if you and your poster mates on this site accept him as strong as you do makes it look like you are all ready for his takeover.

As you know, lies can't be hidden forever, so what kind of idiot are you going to feel like when the facts on him come to light?

By: BenDover on 5/15/12 at 7:58

Right, because (1) top down government monstrosities in central planning of the market always work, (2) deregulation wasn't the issue as much as government protection of the CRA, Fannie and Freddie from oversight and (3) the global market on oil would be meaningless to us if our own resources hadn't been hindered by the left at every possible turn.

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 7:58

I had no idea that the bond market became aware...maybe the Terminator movies are right...

By: BenDover on 5/15/12 at 7:59

Have a good morning guys. I've got to check out for a while.

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 8:03

Oh Ben...you contradict yourself. You're on record saying that you though something should be done about health care, just not what was passed. So, your number one is either a lie, or you do not share the bond market's capacity for memory.

The government loosened the grip, which allowed lenders to do what they do best: make bad decisions (see JP Morgan). I agree that the government is culpable, but if you believe that deregulation is still the answer, seek mental treatment.

Now you cite the global market...except when you blame the President for raising prices...lol...you are entertaining.

LONER.......The world has been trying to either keep off my perch or knock me off my perch since I was four years of age. I'll be glad to take whatever you bring.

I have full confidence in all that I am and all that I have accomplished. At my age I really don't give a shit.

By: dargent7 on 5/15/12 at 9:39

Fellas...(where all the good lookin' chicks on this board?)
Facebook is a communication tool, a device.
No one on either end gives a shit what your home address is, bank account # is, SS # is., how many ex-wives you have.
It's strickly for immediate, "communication". There's no alterior motive.
It's "free enterprise" at it's best. You really want to listen to "yogi"'s bull-shit, hiding behind a false name, day in, day out?
You old dogs appear to have something to hide?
It's 2012 already. "Privacy" is a thing of the past.

Boy, being from Detroit, you're just a tad naive about FB...lol

By: bfra on 5/15/12 at 9:50

d7 - You can't fret nobody that's got their own "perch"! Seems like Raspy & yogi are trying for who is the badest, meanest or taking from Bush's propaganda, "Bring'em on". LOL

By: dargent7 on 5/15/12 at 9:56

This same fear/ oppression came out when Windows 95 came out. Cell phones. Internet.
"People can hear my conversations...".
In 2012, no one gives a shit except the FBI if you murdered your wife in the basement.
Otherwise, it's strickly entertaiment.
If Paul Wade wants to hide behind , "yogi", it's his problem, not mine.

I'm with you 100% on this one Loner. I simply don't trust these guys to do the right thing. And all the information that they require these days is completely unreasonable. Hell, I tried to send a comment to Papa Johns the other day and they required everything but a DNA swab... it's just getting to be too much.

By: BigPapa on 5/15/12 at 9:58

"I won't log into this site with facebook. I try to keep all my alter-egos separated."

Yeah, look at the Tennessean, since they've gone to FB log in it's pretty lame. People are scared (and rightly so) to sound off on topics.

Complete and utter bullshit. You act the the oil that comes out of the ground here stays here.... the fact is it goes on the global market just like any other oil. We give oil companies sweetheart deals in the way of cheap leases which they then do nothing with until the market drives up the prices, then they pump for all it's worth, turn around and sell it on the global market making us buy our own oil... meanwhile running for the hills with the profit. Like they say, nice work if you can get it....

By: dargent7 on 5/15/12 at 10:07

Mr. Big.: Facebook and links, offer one thing: YOUR FACE. A real identity.
Prior, 80% of posters/ bloggers/ was shear bull shit So, what was the meaning, then?
WQho wants to listen to liars and theives? If it wanted that, I'd call my ex-wife.
It takes the hacks out of the system.
And that's a good thing.

By: brrrrk on 5/15/12 at 10:10

And by the way Ben, even as we speak oil companies are sitting on over 7000 drilling permits.... these are permits that have been approved and ready to go.

Michael Crichton once gave a speech where he said that information was the new commodity of the 21st century. If someones making money off home address, I want my cut.....

Welcome to the club, Rasputin72. On this post just consider the source of your ridicule and ignore it. These children think they know it all and have all the answers and they can't even see beyond their nose.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 10:49

Yes, Darge, I am an old dog...it's dog eat dog out there...once bitten, twice shy....now, where's my Alpo?

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 10:51

dargent7,

You ask where have all the good looking chicks have gone. Have you ever thought about the language you are throwing out on this site every time you post a note? There is a thing called social ethics, you know. Men don't cuss in front of women and use socially polite language in public.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 10:52

Raspy, stay on your lofty perch, you old bird, but if you start pecking on my buddy Darge, I'll ruffle your plumage...and take Polly's cracker.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 10:54

We got Bfra...she's a good-looking chick....or so I am told.

Yeah, like we'll take social advice from the forum gadfly......

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 10:58

dargent7,

If I'm hiding behind my "yogiman" name, how do you know my name is Paul Wade? Where did you steal it? Just stay out of my bank with it. You don't look anything like me to be falsely identifiable.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 10:58

Yogi knows romance.....after all, he was a prison guard...he's seen plenty of it over the years.....Deliverance style.

Sometimes there just ain't enough paranoia to go around....

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 11:08

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, Loner. So I think I'll go out and talk to my dogs that have superior intelligence over most of your poster buddies. They make much more sense when I talk to them than y'all do on this site.

Dude, do you realize just how lame you come off as? S'pose not.... Seriously, Stephen Hawking has a better sense of humor.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 11:29

Yogi's dogs told him that Obama was not legit...they could smell it. Yogi believed it.

When Willard comes on my TV set, my old hound dog starts howling...I have to let him out at that time....he loses sphincter control when he hears that mellow voice, or sees that good-looking face....he gets the "willards".

Just like in the hominids, there are smart dogs and there are some dumb-assed dogs.

By: slacker on 5/15/12 at 11:30

Loner, Bfra is good looking no doubt, but she did rough-up a guy with a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer bottle at the Starlite Club. In her defense the guy was wearing white socks.

By: dargent7 on 5/15/12 at 11:38

I feel a comeback is in order, but where does one start?
Zuckerberg is getting $18.7 BILLION for his Facebook.
Bill Gates has $65. BILLION in the bank for his Windows operating system.
Steve Jobs was worth $5. billion for his IPad, IPhones.
Paul McCartney had only $1. billion before his marriage to that whore.
Cost him $300. million.
Guys, these players play at a level we cannot even imagine.

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 12:01

WTF does McCartney have to do with this? Are you drunk? lol

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 12:15

Loner,

How do you know so much about me? Was that you in cell 69 in Block C? I always thought that was an odd guy in the cell.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 12:16

Yeah, Darge, even Willard Romney does not play at that level....that's Sheldon Adelson's league...the super high rollers.....I do not begrudge any of these guys their fortunes...I do not support or defend class war, or holy war.

I do resent the fact that these tycoons can now shovel unlimited funds into the democratic process.

The venerable, but antiquated, engine of semi-representative democracy was jury-rigged before the Citizens United decision, now the flywheel has been discarded....she's picking up revs....she's gonna throw a rod....clear the area!

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 12:20

Thanks for the heads-up on Miss Bfra, Slack....I'll mind my manners. My old cranium can't take much more abuse....but, compared with a knee to the groin....I dunno....gotta save the head that does yer thinkin'.

Loner,

How do you know so much about me? Was that you in cell 69 in Block C? I always thought that was an odd guy in the cell.

Could be. You'll never know for sure, Yogiman.

By: yogiman on 5/15/12 at 12:48

If you are that guy, Loner, I sure don't want to know for sure. I had enough to do with that nut in that cell back then just keeping him under control by making him follow the rules. But since you don't seem to know what the rules are, it might have been you.

I didn't want to put him in the 'hole' unless I had to, and after my first night in charge of a cell block and teaching them a lesson to play by the rules of the game, I never put a guy in the "hole" unless it got too personal.

You know, like cussin' me, or putting a hand on me. Then they went to the "hole" for ten days. And that's not a relaxing place to be.

By the way, Loner, how many times was you put in the "hole"?

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 12:56

Been "in the hole" plenty of times...but I thought that we were trying to be nice here...for the sake of the lady folk.....my holistic experiences shall remain my personal secret.

By: dargent7 on 5/15/12 at 1:38

gD: Try to keep up.
It's proportions, as in money.
Zuckerburg is getting $18.7 billion...
Gates has $65. billion....
Jobs had $5. billion...
For computer hard and soft ware.
A Beatle, the most successful, over 20 years, had $1 billion...., and lost 1/3rd.
Paul's down to $300. million, as compared to these Harvard drop-outs who have $20. billion each by age 30.

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 1:47

You're off on all kinds of tangents, darge. None of that has anything to do with people not using FB due to security reasons, which is the issue.

I'll be the first to congratulate Zuckerburg on his profit, but I really don't hold the creation of FB as important as the least of Jobs contributions. I really don't.

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 2:16

And let's be honest here, Zuckerburg and Gates have two things on common...the first is, they're billionaires. The second, they both ripped off their idea from someone else.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 2:18

Zuckerberg is no "Galileo"....but he knew what to do with a sell-able idea...he did not snooze...he did not lose...I salute the man's ingenuity...he made his fortune without committing a great crime.

By: Loner on 5/15/12 at 2:19

By: gdiafante on 5/15/12 at 2:25

Gates:

Thanks for that URlL GD, I'll check it out right now.
