Up for Debate: The final debate

Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 12:26am

In the final presidential debate of this election, the candidates appeared a bit more civilized but throw no-less pointed barbs at each other. What's you reaction on how each one did? Who came out on top? What were the highlights?

The fact that President Obama dominated Romney in their foreign policy debate is clear. The president not only got in his fair share of zingers (horses, bayonets and submarines come to mind), but was also confident in his ability to argue the success of his foreign policy priorities and how they tied into the need to nation-build here at home. If Romney had a message, it was tough to discern exactly what it was, and his tone was hesitant and insecure. But what may hurt Romney even more than the overall tone and tenor of the debate? The amount of time he spent agreeing with President Obama's foreign policy vision.

The NCP poll of right wing and right wing fringe, is moving the gap of last nights debate farther apart in Obama favor.

Mitt the Shape-Shifter Falls on Obama’s Bayonet

Let’s start with the blindingly obvious: President Obama won last night’s debate in Boca Raton, and won it easily. According to a CBS instant poll of uncommitted voters, his margin of victory was thirty points—fifty-three per cent to twenty-three per cent—a bigger margin even than the one Mitt Romney enjoyed in Denver a few weeks ago. On the question of who would better handle terrorism and national security, the split in Obama’s favor was almost as large: sixty-four per cent to thirty-six per cent.

Got to go for now. Later.

Have a good rest of the day, Captain. :)

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 1:22

IMO that is the reason the righties jumped on the board early today. Thought they could sway the opinion away of how pitiful Mitt looked last nite.

By: Rasputin72 on 10/23/12 at 1:24

The "Simple Six" save one have spoken. They have made their point. They want opportunities for those with bad genetics, bad education, tattoos and dope.

Right in line with what a person of means would expect.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/23/12 at 1:29

I'm afraid you are correct, bfra. I noticed that someone had knocked down an Obama sign in my neighborhood last night.

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 1:36

Just shows the righties demeanor, kinda like Raspy that can't spell & doesn't know that a space follow a comma. But then, cheap gin can addle the brain.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/23/12 at 1:40

Not sure about the tattoos and dope, but Junior definitely has bad genetics and a subpar education. He constantly insults himself - lol!

Welcome to the USSA, Comrades.

BS is BS, but facts are facts.Obama's Constitutional eligibility was brought out before the 2008 election. The question was asked; he refused to answer it and wasn't required to prove he was. Score 1. He has sat in the office for 4 years with questions still asked... but proof still not being required. Score 2. Several states said they would require him to provide proof of eligibility for the next election to be placed on their ballot, but none did. Score 3. If the people don't wake up and oust him from the office, if they can... Score 4. We will have become the USSA with Comrade Barry in charge.

I don't feel sorry for the adults in this scam because of their age. They should know what's going on but they are willfully accepting it. But I do feel sorry for the children being birthed into the communist USSA.

God help the children of the future generations, and God damn their ancestors for supporting the usurper to let it happen.

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 1:56

B2,

If Barry usurps the office again, how do you feel about having a homosexual in that office permanently?

Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot, defined by Merriam-Webster as "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".[1] Bigotry may be based on real or perceived characteristics, including age, disability, dissension from popular opinions, economic status, ethnicity, gender identity, language, nationality, political alignment, race, region, religious or spiritual belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

Thanks for the comment, Mike Burch. You gave Ronald Reagan the benefit of the doubt on his authenticity; I'm not so generous.

Ronald knew how to maintain plausible deniability, he had Oliver North and others doing the dirty work....he kept his own hands clean.

Romney is mimicking the Gipper...same hairdo, but with a touch of grey at the temples....similar, ruggedly-handsome, Hollywood face.....same toothy grin.

And Mitt offers us the same ideas:

Deregulation
Insider-trading
Reaganomics
Trickle-down

Mnemonic Acronym: (DIRT) The GOP is offering us the same old DIRT.

Yogi Berra was right, "It's déjà vu all over again".

Loner - I differ with you on Mitt's looks, he is too preppy & sissy looking. Reminds me of Little Lord Fontenbloom, with out the knickers.

LOL Blanket, they nailed Romney.

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 2:56

Sorry, B2,

I must disagree with you on me being a bigot. I'm not a bigot because of who Obama is, but I do resent him for refusing to identify himself in his process of usurping the Oval Office.

And for you who support him without question, I see you as a bunch of idiots. But, of course, if you are his fellow communists, I understand why you're supporting him as you are.

Tell me; if you was planning to run for the office of the US President, would you refuse to prove you was legally eligible? Would you continue to use any gimmick you could think of to refuse?

So tell me, B2, why did Barry Soetoro insist John McCain prove his eligibility but refused to prove his own eligibility?

Another question: Why did the Senate demand John McCain prove his Constitutional eligibility because Obama demanded it, but "graciously" didn't ask Barry for the same proof?

Am I a bigot on that issue? Hell yes. I want to know if who is in that office is in there legally, according to our Constitution.

The only thing "Obama" has proven is his resentment of the Constitution and his lack of love for this nation.

But again, if you're a fellow communist of his, I understand.

Speaking of dirt, the master dirt-miner, Donald Trump, is once again setting himself up as the rump of future jokes....Trump is once again trumpeting some rumpish rubbish about President Obama....here's a snippet:

“It’s very big. Bigger than anybody would know,” he later told Fox & Friends, hinting it could ‘possibly’ change the election. According to the New York Daily News, Michael Cohen, an executive at the Trump Organization who serves as special counsel to ‘The Apprentice’ host, declined to throw light on the announcement, reiterating only that it would be ‘very big’.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/23/12 at 3:07

It was hard to tell whether anyone really has a lot of interest in Trump's big reveal. An Irish company that bills itself as “Europe’s largest betting company” said it would start taking wagers on the nature of the revelation.

The best odds from Paddy Power, two-to-five went to an old Trump favorite: “Obama is not an American.”

Those looking for a long shot could go with “Obama wears a wig” at 500-to-one. Other betting options included: “Trump to endorse Obama,” at 8-to-one, “Obama to guest on Trump’s reality show ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’” at 50-to-one, “Obama knows the moon landing was staged” at 250-to-one and “Obama is an alien” (whether extra-terrestrial was not specified), also at 250-to-one.

By: Rasputin72 on 10/23/12 at 3:16

I will adjust my statement to this degree. A few members of the "Simple Six" want to add that knowing where and when to place a comma makes up for "bad genetics, tattoos and dope. I want to emphasize that bad education encompasses a lot of things. Having a degree in English and living in the United States is one of them.

People of the world realize the importance of speaking English and being able to write "coherently." I have spent time throughout the world and never remember anyone telling me that they are having a problem with a "dangling participle."

I laud anyone who is grammatically correct but English grammar as being meaningful was pretty much sent to the way of the dinosaur with the 1954 Supreme Court decision

This is the American age of "Too many hawks and not enough chickens" makes proper English grammar a footnote at best.

"LET THE BIG DOG EAT"

Let simpletons like the "Simple Six" strive for a car to last 400,000 miles.

LOL, Brrrk....but more seriously, experts claim that too much time spent riding a bicycle can lead to constriction of key blood vessels and damage the nerves that enable the male erection...that's not good for the Family Values Mormons....they may be riding themselves into impotence?

Here's a site that discusses this cycling malady:

Rasp, you got 400,000 miles out of that Schtick-shift, Simple six....she's blowing blue smoke out her tail-pipe....we understand that she's not just your ride...she's your abode too....but it's time to give her a rest....park the old gal....turn in your plates....do the right thing....there's better stuff out there now, get an old Subaru station wagon....they run forever and they are big enough for a twin mattress in the back....time to upgrade, my friend.

I'm predicting that Al Capone's vault had more in it than the Don can make stick to Obama regardless of the nature or magnitude. It there was any real skeletons Sheriff Joe would've dug them up.

Let the conspiracy wonks chew on that for a while. LOL

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 4:02

I was in service from January 1948 to December 1955, brrrrk. When was you in service?

It's odd, many on this site are complaining about Romney not serving in the military as a volunteer in his younger years. But none of them mention a word about Barack Obama not serving or why they didn't serve themselves.

I guess it's because you knew you wasn't going to run for President in your youth. I mean, hell, folks, they was taking volunteers when I volunteered in 1947, so my question is: How many of you have volunteered to join one of our services. After all, you can pick your choice. They won't question you.

So far, only gdiafante and Loner have said they are veterans. Counting me, then, of all the anti Romney bitchers have made a comment about swerving as a volunteer in his time frame, only two have served. gdiafante after Romney's time frame and Loner possibly in his time frame. I don't count me because I'm not complaining and I was in an earlier time frame.

By: Loner on 10/23/12 at 4:07

Finally, a bit of sense comes from the right.....Ben Dover, wrote:

"I'm predicting that Al Capone's vault had more in it than the Don can make stick to Obama regardless of the nature or magnitude. It there was any real skeletons Sheriff Joe would've dug them up."

Ben Dover.....we share common ground, with respect to Trump's Trashy Trumpery.

Definition of TRUMPERY
1
a : worthless nonsense
b : trivial or useless articles : junk (a wagon loaded with household trumpery — Washington Irving)
2
archaic : tawdry finery

Source:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/trumperies

Looks like the chicanery of the Trump family has been known for centuries...it's part of the English language...."Trumpery", what a beautiful old word....time to put it back into circulation.
