Up for Debate: Gaza and Israel

Friday, November 16, 2012 at 12:51am

What do you think of the latest volley of rockets and fighting between Gaza and Israel? Could this escalate to war or is it another flare up between the two? What action should the U.S. and international community take?

A new war?

By: Rasputin72 on 11/16/12 at 6:28

As long as the United States stays out of another middle east war. I could care less about this 2000 year old problem between the Arab Muslims amd Jews.

I have enough problems navigating my way through the underclass in the United States.
,some of whom have found their way to this little forum.

Hamas controls Gaza because Hamas won a free and fair election.

We should follow Pres. Washington's recommendation and get out of the affairs of other nations. Non-intervention, not isolationism.

Let the UN have the authority and troops to deal with this, not us.

By: govskeptic on 11/16/12 at 7:39

Hamas has to impress their base from time to time, and since they can't
seem to improve the living conditions over the area they are governing
this is their badge of governing. Serious consequences, however, if
Egypt keeps encouraging or even assisting in this behavior. More and
more questions keep cropping up as to US Aid dollars going to area.

Good morning, Nashville.

What do you think of the latest volley of rockets and fighting between Gaza and Israel?

This new offensive is called Operation Pillar of Defense; it is essentially a repeat of Operation Cast Lead which took place in the lame duck period between Junior Bush and BHO.

PM Netanyahu may have thought that Romney would win the US presidency, this new operation has been planned for weeks. Not to worry, however, BHO called Bibi to give him the green light to "defend Israel"....it really does not matter who is in the White House, when Israel really and truly wants to attack somebody, they get the US stamp of approval every time.

Could this escalate to war or is it another flare up between the two?

This could get out of control quickly...unlike in 2008, Egypt is now run by the Muslim Brotherhood, not a tyrannical US lackey; they could join in the fighting. Turkey is still angry over the murderous IDF raid on the Gaza Aid flotilla; they could join the war. And Syria's Assad is on the defensive, as a bloody civil war rages there....Syria could join in the conflagration....and Hizbollah in Lebanon could decide to enter the fray....Iran might re-supply Israel's enemies and Israel might then hit Iran ....Russia and China are allied with Syria and Iran.....they could be sucked into the war too....so could the USA. It could go nuclear....the Israelis have their Samson Option...the Mayan predictions might come true....the End Times could be at hand.

What action should the U.S. and international community take?

The UN created the problem in 1947....they need to address their tragic errors....the partitioning of Palestine was one of the worst ideas the world body ever conceived....it re-opened old wounds...the Crusades are back in vogue.

Holy Wars Suck.

Rasputin72,

You should consider Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama is an Arab Muslim... behind closed doors. He has more Arab blood in his body than black American blood.

Look at the incidents involving Arabs and Muslims and notice his reactions; or lack of.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 10:03

The Rasp works his usual class envy BS into the discussion and Yogi drags his usurper BS in here once again....No matter what the subject may be, we can count on those two to be consistent in their respective obsessions.

By: bfra on 11/16/12 at 10:08

Loner - If either 1 of them had a brain they might be considered dangerous, but since they apparently don't, they are just nobodies.

By: Rasputin72 on 11/16/12 at 10:57

Yes indeed Bfra, all wealthy people are brainless and all people making less than 60,000 dollars a year are brillant.

Loner lives in New York state and ponticates his views about life and politics with the same passion as poor Yogi. I on the iother hand could give a rats butt about anything other than good health and money needed to take advantage of the good health.

Some people are just not happy with their caste.

By: pswindle on 11/16/12 at 11:02

Well, Bibi has gotten his war. The US needs to stay out of this one.

By: bfra on 11/16/12 at 11:04

Raspy - Be careful down there in S. FL, those pythons love rats, especially big fat dumb ones.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 11:26

True that, Bfra, the big vipers dig the taste of Grey-Poupon-fed white men....the Rasp better pack heat and carry a flashlight....and wear knee-high snake-boots too.

Imagine...the lofty Rasputin, the one-percenter...ending up as python poop.....it could happen.....Mother Nature hates an arrogant ass.

By: bfra on 11/16/12 at 11:32

Amen on that Loner & Raspy fits that bill to a T. His imagination might be more believeable if he had a better memory.

By: dargent7 on 11/16/12 at 11:34

Bibi thinks that the USA will back up whatever he does, militarily.
I hope Obama freezes him out.
" You break it, you own it".

By: Rasputin72 on 11/16/12 at 11:35

LONER.....Well, it would not surprise to to see an arrogant ass have discord with those that do not understand his arrogance.

I am off to a luncheon and will be occupied for some time but am interested in whether or not you think arrogance is an extension of self-esteem?

Translation: Rasp is scurrying with elbows flapping, to the Rescue Mission. Friday is meatloaf day, and Rasp loves him some meatloaf. Apparently the mission is serving early today.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 1:00

I agree, Darge, if Bibi's Pillar of Defense starts to shake, rattle and roll....we should just clear the area and let the temple collapse on the comb-over Samson.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 1:02

I understand your arrogance, Rasp, I do not condone it, but I understand it.

One of the Cardinal sins is Pride....one of the 7 deadly ones....the nuns had that part right.

By: trisha40422 on 11/16/12 at 1:24

Trisha74

Why do these comment opportunities descend to name-calling, adolescent tirades? To respond to the original question, the UN should handle the Gaza conflict. The US should stay out of it.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 1:46

Human nature, Trisha....they do it because they can. I gave it a shot @ 8:11....after that, it's wide open. Welcome to the board.

By: bfra on 11/16/12 at 2:21

Trisha - Because most people do not like or will not tolerate condescending liars. After a few have continually posted proven lies that is IMO a just rebuttal. As to the topic, I agree with you on the UN. Welcome to the discussion.

By: Loner on 11/16/12 at 4:24

Back to the topic:

New developments look ominous. Two Palestinian missiles narrowly missed Tel Aviv and one missile just missed Jerusalem. This was not supposed to be happening and Netanyahu may take the heat, if he is unable to protect the Israeli people from Palestinian retaliation for Pillar of Defense.

The Iron Dome defense shield is not 100% effective...some are getting through.

Israel has called up the reserves and IDF tanks are massing on the Gazan border...looks like a full scale ground invasion is planned....I doubt if this is a bluff.

Snippet:
"The Jerusalem and Tel Aviv strikes have so far caused no casualties or damage, but could be political poison for Netanyahu, a conservative favored to win re-election in January on the strength of his ability to guarantee security."

LONER........I would like to see a launch of "Mr.LONER GOES TO WASHINGTON" It is going to take somebody like you to convince these politicos that Israel has been running a shell game with the intellect of the citizens of the United States and the politicians that represent them.

Right now, you are pontificating to no more than 19 people on this forum. Six of whom have no earthly idea (other than a nod of approval ) that Southwest does not fly direct to Tel Aviv.

By: yogiman on 11/16/12 at 6:07

Well, Loner,

It looks like Mother Nature favors me on my thoughts about Barry being an arrogant a$$.

By: yogiman on 11/16/12 at 6:17

Welcome aboard, Trisha,

I'm that "liar" they claim me to be, but none of them has proved to me what I lied about and how I lied. They're way of thinking? [just accuse him, that'll make him one].

By: yogiman on 11/16/12 at 6:19

One more point you need to learn, Trisha, if you don't agree with them, you're wrong.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/12 at 6:25

It has been proven many times that you are a liar, yogi. You are just too stupid to understand you are lying.

By: bfra on 11/16/12 at 6:38

Sounds like Raspy started hitting that cheap gin early.

By: parnell3rd on 11/17/12 at 7:37

I bet when Pres. Obama okays the start of WWIII you libtards won't say a word about it.
How come none of you libtards are upset at the fact that Jordon took all of Palestein's land?

By: parnell3rd on 11/17/12 at 7:44

"Bomb them back to the stone age son" Apocolypse Now - Robert Duvall's character.

By: yogiman on 11/17/12 at 8:12

Pres. Obama will not start WWIII, parnell3rd because we do not have a President Obama. That would be usurper Soetoro. If he is President Obama, he would have readily identified himself himself when threw his hat in the presidential ring.

But, I guess that's too logical for the "insider posters" on this site to understand common sense behavior.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Have you ever notice that p3 comes on line and starts making charges and name calling, with out ever reading the other post. If he had he would have seen that the so-call "libtarts" has not said one thing in favor for war.

It make me wonder if he is not teatart.

By: yogiman on 11/17/12 at 1:41

Would being a "teatart" be anything similar to your retarded situation, dumba$$?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/17/12 at 5:12

It is far worse,. You are one.

By: Loner on 11/18/12 at 9:42

Back to the topic: Up for Debate: Gaza and Israel

The original sin can be traced back to Thedor Herzl's 1896 manifesto, "Der Judenstaat". Herzl mistakenly reasoned that concentrating the Jewish diaspora into a tiny piece of real estate in the middle of Muslim country would save the Jewish people from annihilation.

The Balfour Declaration in 1917 gave Herzl's seeds of Jewish nationalism a place to take root. Or so it seemed.

The UN foolishly partitioned the British Mandate of Palestine in 1947 into Jewish and Arab sectors...the Arabs never agreed to the plan; that was the rub in the well-intentioned scheme.

Blaming the victims of Jewish colonialism is both unfair and inaccurate.

The Israelis assassinated Count Folke Bernadotte in September, 1948; he was the UN's first peace envoy to that troubled region. The UN should have pulled the plug on the Jewish state idea right then and there. It didn't. We now see the results of the UN's dereliction of duty.

By: yogiman on 11/18/12 at 11:12

Just wondering, Loner,

Your obvious hatred of the Jewish population of Israel indicates to me you're in the Islamic faith. Are you, perchance, a Muslim?

Is that why you're such an advocate supporter of Barry?

By: parnell3rd on 11/18/12 at 11:23

teatart sounds soooooo much better than libtard.

By: parnell3rd on 11/18/12 at 11:24

libtadrs are always in favor of war, it makes money for them in the capitalist system they hate.

By: bfra on 11/18/12 at 12:54

p3 - Your comments don't even make good sense! It definitely isn't the democrats that are war mongers. The election is over, your guy LOST, get over it.

By: yogiman on 11/18/12 at 1:13

Sorry, bfra, but your favorite usurper stole the office again. But this Benghazi? thing might bring him up front. A lot of congress is finally getting into action on him.

By: yogiman on 11/18/12 at 1:15

Well, Dooley has been ousted at Knoxville after Vanderbilt knocked the hell out of them yesterday. Whose next?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/18/12 at 2:27

Poor itty bitty p3 is soooo upset that he can't spell libtarts correctly. Libtadrs.

You are the poster boy for LOSERS, p3.

By: bfra on 11/18/12 at 2:53

Hi Nemo - These born LOSERS are so stupid, they don't know the election is over.
