Up for Debate: Gingrich announces staff layoffs, new manager

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 12:11am

Newt Gingrich announced Tuesday that he was laying off one-third of his staff, including his campaign manager. A CNN/ORC poll Tuesday also showed that the "majority of Republicans would like to see Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul drop their bids" for the Republican nomination. Do you agree with the poll results? Should Gingrich and Paul call off their bids?

Newt needs to sit down and shut up.

I propose that Gingrich become the very first member of the Moon Colony (51st state), and that he be transported there ASAP.

By: dargent7 on 3/28/12 at 4:55

Gingrich is one sorry human being.
He won his "home state" of Georgia who I read passed a law that if a woman has an abortion after 19 weeks she faces 10 years in prison.
Even if the "baby" has defects such as the brain and heart are developing OUTSIDE the body. Even if raped by an escaped convict who's IQ is below 60.
His "Colonize the Moon" in 8 years and make it the "51st State" was so insane, he should of been incarcerated on a "5150".
The very thought of the hypocritical fatso and his adulterous wife in the W.H. makes me puke.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 5:00

That is funny Ummm, but do we really want to start a civilization on the moon on a bad note?

Hey Yogi. Tonight on a show I heard that a black man (82 years old) was in his home in Chicago sleeping; his wife woke him up cause someone was breaking into his home through the bathroom window. So the 82 year old gets his handgun and confronts the punk (about 19 year old black kid) and shoots him in the leg. The punk was in his house, stealing liquor from him and got shot. So who got arrested? Of course, the 82 year old defending his home and wife. It's against the law to have a gun in Chicago. Of course, that's the birth place of Senator BO! Well, not really the birth place - but it's the birthing ground for his political climb. Can anyone say corrupt? Of course it's two black men, so Sharpton, O'Drama, Jackson and the ilk of those "interlopers" don't get any media play out of defending an 82 year old black man who shot a punk for robbing his home.

I think that this kid who was killed by Zimmerman was not a saint. And if he was suspended due to drugs, did they do any drug testing on him when he was shot? Maybe he was out getting munchies. Isn't that what dopers do? Get high and run to the store for munchies?

Sad. We live in a sad world. Zimmerman's life is ruined; The kid's life was apparently already awry and his mom is a "camera hog". She needs to stay home from Congress and mourn.

As far as Ginrich goes, he is an ten foot ego in a penny balloon about to pop.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 5:17

Old budlight leaves out some important fact on this story. But she is not a gun toting racist.

March 27, 2012
80-year-old man arrested after shooting a 19-year-old home intruder.
Key word: "after." Homer Wright was arrested because as a convicted felon, he is barred from owning a gun.

Darryl Smith, 42, a self-employed tow truck owner who lives down the street from Wright, said he finds it outrageous that police arrested his neighbor, who Smith said runs his business out of the home....

“His life is just as valuable as someone who doesn’t have a felony,” Smith said.

Good morning, Nashville.

Newt's sugar daddy, Sheldon Adelson, is cutting off Newt's money supply...Adelson now backs Romney and has promised to pump millions into the super PAC backing MItt. Newt is finished, for all practical purposes.

Mister Adelson and his family have wasted over 16.5 million on the failed Newt...even for Adelson, the casino tycoon, there is a limit on losing money on a failed gamble.

Adelson is an Israeli agent who funds several Israeli causes; he is now attempting to purchase the controlling interest in the next US president....this would insure that the POUTUS remains a vassal to the Israeli Prime Minister.

Here is a source and snippet:

Source:

http://www.stltoday.com/news/national/casino-magnate-ready-to-share-wealth-with-romney/article_821336ab-c064-505f-90c9-d1695b2e7a67.html

Snippet:

"Sheldon Adelson, a staunch supporter of Israel whose fortune is pegged by Forbes at almost $25 billion, is a prime example of the new breed of donor who, thanks to court rulings in 2010, can give unlimited amounts to outside groups that spend independently to support candidates." (End Snippet)

We can thank the Bush family legacy for the right-winged USSC that gave us the democracy-destroying Citizens United decision which is now such a sudden and huge benefit to wealthy citizens in foreign countries, like Israel.....foreigners and foreign companies are now able to purchase US politicians more easily and more directly than ever before...how can this republic survive under these conditions?

By: gdiafante on 3/28/12 at 5:25

No doubt the justice system in this country is flawed. Criminals can sue their victims and they may win. Is that fair? Certainly not. However, if you have a better system in mind, let's hear it.

Regarding the Trayvon shooting, both sides have been too quick to judge...Trayvon wasn't this innocent little child, he was 6'2" and had problems. Zimmerman wasn't a knight in shining armor, he disobeyed orders to let the police handle it himself, which escalated the issue.

Regarding Gingrich, as long as his sugar daddy wants him in the race, he'll be in the race. If you have a problem with it, petition the Supreme Court. They put this in motion.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 5:27

Thank you Loner, I was looking to find more on this.

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 5:27

By: tomba1 on 3/28/12 at 5:27

ummmmm -

I'll gladly second your moon proposal. But, wouldn't we need to create another phase of the moon's cylce for the "newt moon" ? As founding governor of the 51st state, such a designation would be befitting. Wonder how many electoral votes the new(t) state would have and what would we call it??

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 5:31

I suppose that Adenlson has lost his taste for Newt on a Stick. LOL

This more to the story I posted yesterday and this highlights the thing Zimmerman did wrong which not only but his self in jeopardy, but lead to the death of another life.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/os-trayvon-martin-neighborhood-watch-20120321,0,177284,full.story

First, he approached a stranger he suspected of wrongdoing.

"If you see something suspicious, you report it, you step aside and you let law enforcement do their job," Tutko said. "This guy went way beyond the call of duty. At the least, he's overzealous."

Second, Zimmerman carried a handgun. Police departments and sheriff's offices that train volunteers advise them never to carry weapons — though Zimmerman broke no laws by doing so because he has a concealed-weapons permit.

"There's no reason to carry a gun," Tutko said.

"I'm disappointed that people are trying to put blame onto the program when it's not the program's fault," said Wendy Dorival, who coordinates volunteer programs, including Neighborhood Watch, for the Sanford police. "Neighborhood Watch is not what took his life away."

By: dargent7 on 3/28/12 at 5:42

There's ample evidence the USA never even went to the Moon.
All staged in Hollywood.
Gingrich, aka, McPherson, was in FL at Cape Canaveral.
Could this idiot come up with a better, pandering plan, to garner votes?

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 5:44

My pleasure, Captain Nemo....I read that article yesterday and concluded that the Newt got the boot from his paymaster...no more 5-star hotels with clean sheets every night...no more fancy restaurants...no more fawning rallies....no more free airline tickets etc. Newt and Calligula may have to start combing their own hair once again.

Just as in "Cinderella", Newt's fancy coach has returned to being a pumpkin and the horses that pulled it went back into being rats....Newt was careful to leave a glass slipper on the stage...just in case....his fairy godfather has found a new client....it's back to cleaning out the fireplace for the fat cinderfella....it was just a fairy tale.

PhiberOptik

You know when Ginrich announced he was charging $50 a pop for a photo with the great man that desperation had landed on his campaign. The man apparently believes that people will pay to be photographed with this beached whale of a candidate and pay more if his Susy Creamcheese wife is in the photo; My god sir, have you no shame?

lesson learned again, be careful what I ask for ....

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:06

"Newtopia"? I like that, Tomba.

If Romney gets elected, America will experience a Mittopian revival? The Obamanation will become Mittopia? We had Reaganomics and then Obamacare ...are we ready for Mittopia...the pre-Armageddon Golden Age of Amerika?

To field a ball, you need a Mitt...with President Mitt, we'll have a ball.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 6:11

It is going to one of those days isn't it. ;- )

By: gdiafante on 3/28/12 at 6:12

No matter who's elected, America is suffering from a massive deficit...a deficit of leadership.

Bill Maher called Romney the most "Uninteresting Man in the World"...ambien takes him to go to sleep...

By: Ummm... on 3/28/12 at 6:14

I'm sorry, but "Newt Moon" conjures up an image that is beyond nauseating.

By: Rasputin72 on 3/28/12 at 6:15

Newt Gingrich had his day years ago. Let all of us Republicans and Democrats hope that this rascal never gets out of Georgia again

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 6:22

Amen Raspuntin72

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:27

The Rasp is right on this morning...Newt had his day years ago...he was excoriating Bill Clinton by day, (re: the BJ), while screwing an aide (Callista) every night that his 2nd wife was out of town...the over-stuffed sanctimonious hypocrite needs to go away...this time for good.

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:31

I agree, Ummm, Newt shooting a moon would not be a pretty sight...but then again, moons are not supposed to be "pretty"....I think that the ever-vindictive and ungrateful Newt is mooning Adelson right about now....he best be careful...casino tycoon's have connections with hit men etc.

By: treehugger7 on 3/28/12 at 6:32

Newt will probably move to tennessee--it's a crazier state than georgia now. the moon man would fit in well here with our nutcases!

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 6:35

Wish that was true Loner, but Fox always has a place for the, "over-stuffed sanctimonious hypocrites.” He will be back and smiling that arrogant smile of his.

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:41

It looks like it's gonna be Obama versus Mitt in November...barring a take-out attempt by the Mossad, of course. It could be Mitt vs Joe Biden in November. The Israelis have had about enough of Obama's foot-dragging...they want to finish the neocon agenda and there's a lot more heavy lifting in store for Uncle Sam...this is no time for a secular, Kum-Bah-Yah POTUS, the Israelis want a confirmed Zionist in the White House....and dammit they'll get one...one way or another....Holy Wars Suck!

By: treehugger7 on 3/28/12 at 6:41

Loner, be sure to check out post politics--medical marjuana has raised it's head in Tennessee again...of course with our goofball legislature, it will go nowhere.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 6:42

A newly discovered crater on the backside of the moon was name the Eye of Newt. Bewitching isn’t it. ;- )

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:51

Newt could get blackballed, Captain Nemo, if he bad-mouths his fairy Godfather...even FOX would distance themselves from him if does that.

There may be more to all this than is being played in the press...GOP thugs may have taken a lead pipe to the Newt and told him to drop out...or else.

As for Ron Paul...the GOP thugs want him out too...if he's gonna run as a third party choice, he will have to act soon....that could be the next big headline....Paul as Libertarian...I might even vote for that choice, Obama has been a disappointment to me....hey, with the Electoral College system running the show, many, if not most votes for POTUS do not really count anyway....50 non-human states vote, not the 170 million registered US voters....the system sucks.

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 6:56

The "Anus of Newt" would be more apt, Captain Nemo, IMO...but "Eye of Newt" has that classy Shakespeare ring to it.

Have you got a URL on that Cannabis article, Hugger? I know that Cohen was in favor of it..he's now in the Congress, right? I sent him an E-mail once, backing his position...seems like a bright light in a dark place, to me.

By: treehugger7 on 3/28/12 at 7:04

Here it is, Loner. Yes, Steve Cohen is in favor of legalization, and was caught smoking a few years ago with some journalists. He speaks regularly in the house on many topics--always cogently. Unfortunately, I think he is retiring. The good ones leave too soon, and the loons never leave!

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 7:07

Where are Ben Dover, Govskeptic and the righties?

I agree, Gd, the US is suffering from a massive deficit in leadership. Is that because the pols respond to the special interests, not the public interest? I think that's a big part of it. The lawmakers are serving their special interest campaign donors, not John Q. Public.

With the advent of the Super-PACs, the situation will get even more unstable, IMO...give this new paradigm twenty years and we will have morphed from republican democracy to corporate cleptocracy....we are almost there right now.

By: yogiman on 3/28/12 at 7:10

Loner,

I suggest you look into the reason the Electoral College was formed when our founders were creating this nation. Go to bing, or google, and type in Bill Whittle explains the Electoral College.

Unless you just want the change to the more power it would give NY you might agree it's a better system than an outright popular vote.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 7:10

Loner the Anus of Newt would a good name for some undiscovered moon of Uranus or a prison colony in orbiting.

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 7:11

Thanks for the URL, Hugger...I hope that Steve Cohen runs for TN Governor...I'd consider moving down there, to volunteer as an aide to Cohen...."Volunteerin' in the Volunteer State"...sounds like there's a tune in there......hmmmm.

I'm going to the link right now.....(cough...cough).

Come on yogi, don’t you have any sympathy for a young black man with Skittles?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/12 at 4:26
I would have had some sympathy for Zimmerman if he had been the one with the Skittles.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/27/12 at 4:29
yogi-

If Zimmerman had killed a white man with Skittles, would yogi stand up for him then?

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/12 at 7:17

Loner-

Is that cough from Mary Jane or the smoke yogi is blowing?

By: slacker on 3/28/12 at 7:18

Ah yes, the Newt is phasing it out. I thought he might subject himself to a ''Dunkin booth,'' $10,000 a ball. The Dems. would line up for miles to dunk the Newt. '' You throw like a Democrat ''you pussy.'' If Obama was smart he would funnel funds into Newt's campaign, keep him throwing spitballs at ''Big Love''..Mitt.

By: yogiman on 3/28/12 at 7:19

I'm afraid you're right on the lawmakers serving the special interests, Loner. That's been going on for decades now.

I'm afraid this might be the last year of the nation our founders gave to us. We only have a congress representing their "providers".

When is the last time you received a personal letter to answer a question you ask you congressman, Senate or House? I'd say, only if your a part of a big money giving company supporting them financially.

By: slacker on 3/28/12 at 7:21

Loner.. is Ben Dover and House-Of-Pain on spring break?

By: treehugger7 on 3/28/12 at 7:22

Sadly, I think Steve Cohen is too smart to run for gov. I wonder if we could draft him, start a petition...how about it, Steve?

By: Loner on 3/28/12 at 7:25

From the Post piece on pot:

"Sponsor Rep. Jeannie Richardson, D-Memphis, said the proposed system would have the tightest regulation of any of the 16 states that now authorize sales."

Nice try, Jeannie, but all the restrictions and regulations in the world will not change the minds of most of the Republicans in the TN statehouse....they are still in the "Reefer Madness" state of mind. But there is a glimmer of hope.

Rev. Pat Robertson recently changed his mind; he now favors legalization:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57393466/pat-robertson-marijuana-should-be-legal/

Remember, Obama's AG cracked down on the Medical Marijuana dispensaries etc. out West last year....he reneged on the hope & change thing...somebody who wants pot to stay illegal has the POTUS by his scrotum? Who dat?

States rights advocates should agree....on Cannabis, let the states decide.

Thanks Tree Hugger, for the heads up...maybe the Up for Debate question tomorrow might be about this new development....(hint, hint Webmaster).
