Up for Debate: Haslam's rejection

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:56pm

Do you agree with Gov. Haslam's announcement Wednesday that he would not expand TennCare under the Affordable Care Act? What kind of plan do you think should be enacted?

One has to admire Haslam for trying to stand his ground against the groundswell and avalance of people wanting free stuff from the productive class.

He is however no more than a beacon blinking in hurricane.

Not surprising, really. Republicans don't mind giving free stuff away, they just prefer giving the stuff to corporations rather than people in need.

I'd like to know what brother Jug thinks of this topic...lol

By: yogiman on 3/28/13 at 7:14

Giving is just the opposite of getting. Too many would rather be a "getter" than to give. They don't have to work too hard for it.

By: Rasputin72 on 3/28/13 at 7:21

Gdiafante.....Corporations (at least 98% of them) pay taxes and employ productive people like yourself. The underclass contributes nothing and takes from the productive class.

I give you this forum and the majority of those who comment on this board.

Thank goodness for gated communities and private schools, churches, selective country clubs and last but not least, the almighty dollar.

By: bfra on 3/28/13 at 7:27

Gdiafante - Some neer-do-wells are too busy trying to polish their own tarnished MO to read real facts & find out just how many of these Corporations pay a reduced tax or no tax at all.

By: treehugger7 on 3/28/13 at 7:28

If only Rasp would lock himself inside the gates (of hell).

By: gdiafante on 3/28/13 at 7:29

Raspy, maybe if you close your eyes, click your heels together and tell yourself that corporate welfare doesn't exist, it will be so.

Or, you could attempt to be objective and realize that not every corporation is "evil", just like every person on welfare is not a bum.

Either way, a welfare state still exists and it includes the "haves" and "have nots".

Rasputin72,

How can he be so productive by being on this site on a daily basis? Is he working at night?

It seems the vast majority of the posters on this cite are "getting off work" about 4:00PM and they are few and far between on the weekends. Aren't they "on-line" at home to throw their arguments at you?

By: Rasputin72 on 3/28/13 at 7:34

Bfra.........You underclass bucket of slop, you don't have a clue. This in addition to the fact that your net worth is probably what is in your pocket.

Catch up with your piteous post later. This is a beautiful day on island and perfect for golf and conversations with people like myself who pick up the tab for you economic bloodsuckers.

By: bfra on 3/28/13 at 7:39

Muck put out by Raspy is always good for the first laugh of the day. Get a job & then you might be able in 50 yrs. to join my class. I doubt it, but you can hope!

I will wait to see if Haslam plan works or not.

Oh yes the people wanting free stuff…Corporate Welfare is for the rich Republicans who want it all and never have to pay for it. Like the War of Choice in Iraq, this benefited the Corporate War Machine and then not worries about paying for it.

BTW old boy if you would shut mouth about your play money, there would be hurricane.

Oh yes Raspy old boy lock safe in your gated community, you are protected from the reality of the world. However just like Corporate Welfare, reality will bit you in the ass or in your case the face.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/28/13 at 8:07

Raspy old boy you are the one with out a clue. You are still the same poorly equipped conman still thinking you are a lover for a hand-out as you were 40yrs ago.

By: Kosh III on 3/28/13 at 8:09

Verizon, GE and Exxon did not pay federal income taxes in 2010-and 2011.(just to name a few)

Boeing has not paid federal income taxes since 2001.

We gave VW 200 million, 300 million to Hemlock(and got nothing!) and how much are we giving HCA.
All wealthy corporations which could easily afford it but they'd prefer to mooch off the rest of us who DO work, and work hard.

By: Kosh III on 3/28/13 at 8:10

Haslam proves that the GOP plan for health care is Get Sick and Die. Maybe Raspy would like to enroll in the GOP plan?

It is my understanding that v'bilt hospital is working on a plan with corporations to provide medical. I didn't have time to read this article; is that included in it? I think I heard that they are working with one of the auto manufacturers.

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 8:47

I don't like people who leech off of the gov't. Maggots.

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 8:49

America has become a cesspool of undignified, overly-medicated, freeloading socialists. This forum is worse.

How hard do you work, Kosh III, that gives you so much time on this site. Doesn't 'sound' like you're too busy.

I suspect the Governor knows a *ell of a lot more than I, or this board on what the
numbers might be or close to for the program. Of course, the biggest problem for
any of the Governors is getting true facts on ObamaCare and what the terms, cost,
and requirements will be after the start of 2014. That arises because the bill is so
open it's being made up as they go.
Millions of new folks eligible, but I know of nothing being done in the Medical Schools or Nursing Schools to speed up the enrollment for a sufficient number to come
anywhere close to handling these new numbers. Of course many like Kosh III want
it to be a one payer system to supplement their too meager paychecks, but if that
happens it will be many years down the road. Time will tell, but starting next year
we will all have to pay more whether private insurance, employer, or medicare. Like good Boy Scouts: "Be prepared".

By: dargent7 on 3/28/13 at 10:15

Haslam is a Republican. Their platform is: "Too bad..we're so very sorry....please just go away and die somewhere else where I don't have to face it or look at it..."

By: dargent7 on 3/28/13 at 10:19

Thank God for..."selective Country Clubs..." Let's see..you mean one's that don't admit ni**ers?

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 10:19

Haslem is a businessman. Demtards platform is to criticize anyone who does not give them something for free.

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 10:20

d7 is a welfare whore who gets jealous when productive people enjoy the fruits of their labor. He also molests collies.

''Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.''
Matthew 25

Jesus never said take earnings from one person and flush it through an inefficient, often corrupt and politically motivated bureaucracy in order to buy favor with another.

You are confusing government sanctioned thievery, by the political and bureaucratic class, with charity. It robs people of their earnings and it robs people of their ability to be directly charitable with that which they have earned.

It is wholly misguided to believe yourself charitable for demanding others to do your definition of 'good'. And it is naive on the border with moronism to support politicos who buy favor with the promise of using the guns of the state to spend other peoples earnings in the way you deem charitable.

Do some work and earn a buck; and then write the check yourself. Then you'll understand what was meant by Jesus.

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 10:38

BenDover: Amen.

Really, I really don't recall Jesus advocating greed for the sake of greed either....

"And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him."

By: yogiman on 3/28/13 at 10:43

Why should the government be responsible for your medical care, dargent7? Aren't you responsible enough to take care of yourself?

Can't afford any insurance? OK, you have my permission to die.

Since the government feels they must provide health care for people, whey don't they feel they should provide automotive insurance for our vehicles; you know, in case of an accident? How about feeding us to make sure we get good meals for our health?

What's the limit for the government acting as your parent where you must "take care of yourself"?

Says the man who is no doubt spending his Social Security even though he has likely received much more than and he contributed and is also receiving Medicare....

By: pswindle on 3/28/13 at 10:50

The main purpose of Obamacare is to take the care of patients out of the hands of the insurance companies. We have tried private insurance companies and they are the only ones to get rich, and the premiums have gone up with limited care. How many times have the insurance companies told you that they would not cover your health needs or medication? Haslam is telling the corportations that he is backing them and not the people of TN. Why not try the new healthcare for three years. It would not cost TN anything, but the insurance companies would not get over their fair share. This Governor is for the corportations and businesses and not what is good for TN. He wants Federal money to give to private insurance companies. I hope that they turn him down. The insurance companies will still be in charge and doing thier same old routine, but the difference is they will be putting Federfal money in their pockets.

In context,

15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. 16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. 22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

After reading the pretzel logic used by this "BenDover" to justify the "me first and the devil take the hindmost" philosophy made famous by Mr. Romney's 47% remarks and numerous other greed "enablers," it is very apparent how he decided upon that name for himself.

This board is a reflection of why Hussein was reelected. Creep freeloaders who demand that others work so they can stay home and drink malt liquor.

All part of the devolution into socialism and chaos. I just hope I live long enough (yes, I work and have health insurance) to see America implode due to freeloading liberals.

By: Jughead on 3/28/13 at 11:43

I'd respect you freeloaders more if you were just honest and said "I want your stuff, and I don't want to work for it."

Really. I would. Just say it---no need to spew some moronic feed the children nonsense--just tell me that you want me to work for you, and I'll give you some props.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. " - John 2:15-17

By: HoundDog on 3/28/13 at 11:53

After reading the various unsavory comments by this "Jughead" person, I'm quite sure that contrary to what he assumes, I do not want any of his "stuff" or anything else he may have come in contact with.
