Up for Debate: iPad ... mini?

Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 1:15am

How do you feel about the new iPad mini? Do you see it as a logical next frontier for the company and handheld computers in general? Or is it a dud or a jump-the-shark moment for Apple? Bonus: What do you see as the most important technology right now?

True that, Ben....I forgot to include battery eliminators...like capacitors, super capacitors, ultra-capacitors, and the summum efficientiam hyperbolic capacitors (SEHC)...in my original rant....your point is well-taken.

bfra,

Isn't it interesting everyone required to release any papers Barry's party wants to see on them but Barry isn't required to even show his birth certificate, or any of his other papers?

I think the markets are working pretty hard toward those ends gd.

R & D, as with anything, reaches a point of diminishing returns and we've should be careful about how much central planning goes into it. The markets are a pretty good arbiter.

As I've said before though, if we are going to be spending any stimulus money in the economy it shouldn't be directly funding crack whores. It should be spent on highly educated scientists and physicists developing whiz-bang gadgets and then let that money trickle down through Morton's tips... to McDonald's drive thrus... and then to the crack-whores as God intended it.

Again...Gentlemen...i know nothing about no R factors or RH factors....UBBM (Undeliverable Bulk Business Mail) is NOT "Junk Mail".....it was a tough choice...it could go to the landfill...or it could go into the walls of my drafty shanty....but that was back in the Mother Earth News era.....I blame Tommy Chong for the whole thing....I was just trying to save Mother Earth....but, like I say, I no nothing about no UBBM.

By: BenDover on 10/25/12 at 10:15

I love Mother Earth News. It's a great magazine.

I can always tell when the stock market takes a dive. Ben comes on line more often and a lot nastier. ;-)

Thanks to Slack, when I look at the headline for this column, I'm thinking maxi-pads and mini-pads....I may need therapy.

By: BenDover on 10/25/12 at 10:34

Mother Earth News IS a great magazine Nemo.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/25/12 at 10:41

I have read it too, Ben, but not as much as I use to do. Now I have mini-pads to keep me occupied. Thanks Loner. wink, wink.

bfra, do you think Judge Allred is Romney's October surprise?

I think Trump was a disapointment.

By: slacker on 10/25/12 at 10:49

See y'all later.. gonna go vote for Mitt.
Yeah.. I know.

So that's what happened? You tried to replace your mini-brain with a set of mini-pads and plugged them into the hole in your a$$, eh, dumba$$?

Doesn't look like you can correct your mistake, dumba$$.

By: bfra on 10/25/12 at 11:16

Everything is anal with the crazy old coot! No wonder his brain is missing.

By: gdiafante on 10/25/12 at 11:30

It should be spent on highly educated scientists and physicists developing whiz-bang gadgets

I agree. You know my stance on science and technology and the way it's being neglected, and in some cases, completely marginalized, pisses me off to no end.

By: gdiafante on 10/25/12 at 11:33

Go get 'em, slack. It's a beautiful thing to vote. I remember how I couldn't wait to vote, and then when I could, the first election was Bush Sr and Dukakis...talk about a letdown...

By: yogiman on 10/25/12 at 12:29

It's a responsibility to vote, gdiafante. If you don't vote you have no excuse to gripe about who's in the office. In essence, they're your choice, like 'um or not.

Colin Powell Endorses Obama

Mr. Powell said he supported Mr. Obama in part because he is ending the war in Afghanistan and has a strong counter-terrorism record. “There’s some very, very strong neo-conservative views that are presented by the governor that I have some trouble with,” he said.

“I’m not quite sure which Governor Romney we’d be getting with respect to foreign policy,” he said.

Other Republicans and Independents who endorse Obama for 2012:

Fmr. GFmr. Gov. Angus King (I-ME)

Gov Charlie Crist (I-FL); Republican while in office

Gov. Lincoln Chafee (I-RI), former U.S. Senator (R-RI)

Wesley Clark, four star General (Ret), former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, 2004 presidential candidate

State Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward (R-NY)

OK, Wesley Clark is a D. My bad.

"Mitt Romney was not a businessman; he was a master financial speculator who bought, sold, flipped, and stripped businesses. He did not build enterprises the old-fashioned way—out of inspiration, perspiration, and a long slog in the free market fostering a new product, service, or process of production. Instead, he spent his 15 years raising debt in prodigious amounts on Wall Street so that Bain could purchase the pots and pans and castoffs of corporate America, leverage them to the hilt, gussy them up as reborn “roll-ups,” and then deliver them back to Wall Street for resale—the faster the better." - David Stockman, Director of the Office of Management and Budget for Ronald Reagan

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/25/12 at 2:03

He didn't build it - although he did tear it down.....

By: yogiman on 10/25/12 at 2:46

Well, consider this, Obama fans: You don't know what kind of President Romney will be, and you didn't know what kind of President Obama would be in 2008 (how could you when you didn't even know the man?).

Your advantage on this election is: You know what kind of President Obama has been for the last 4 years. So, if you want him to keep raising your debt, show your ignorance and vote for him again.

Check out the sicko ward before you go in to vote.

By: yogiman on 10/25/12 at 2:52

An amazing thought: People voted for Obama in 2008 not even knowing who they were voting for. And after 4 years even though he continues to refuse to identify himself, many are voting for him again even though they still don't know who in the hell he is. I wonder how many of you got through kindergarten.

It sure beats running to the outhouse when I'm reading your ignorant comments, B2. You're so hilarious I get to laughing so hard and I don't want to get my carpet wet.
