Looking back, should May Town Center have been built? Should there be some similar type of development planned for Bells Bend?

No to your first question and no to the second question also. Bells bend should be preserved as a living museum to Nashville pass.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 2:05

May, May Town never be built at anytime in Bells Bend. What a mess it was and what a mess it has caused the city.

Good morning, Nashville!

I have no answer to the questions of the day...the locals may weigh in on this, but I will refrain.

By: dargent7 on 12/12/11 at 5:25

I'm a "local" but have no idea what this subject is about.
This paper is always giving us a "local" subject that prohibits our International friends from joining the discussion.
Speaking of "locos", anyone catch "yogi"s last post on Sat.?
He said comparing Obama to Hitler wasn't "fair" because Hitler was legally elected to hold the office in The Third Reich, whereas Obama isn't President, legally.
Tin foil must of been On Sale at Krogers.

By: dargent7 on 12/12/11 at 5:26

ps: I'm eleated only two candidates chose to do Trump's debate.
What a slap in his face! Brought him down a few notches.

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 5:56

d7 - Just another example of yogi's -0 caliber of thinking!

This topic didn't get any hits, so they put it on City Voices.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 5:59

Yogi briefly flirted with cogency, when he complained about money in politics, last week. Since then, he has gone back to his old birther ways...the usurper BS....must have had a relapse.

Trump has been trumped by his own ego...he now looks like a loser...something he abhors. Poetic justice.

Did you folks see where the Newt outsucked all the others when they were performing for the Jewish Republicans, last week? Not only did Newt promise to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv, to Jerusalem - thus recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Occupied City - he went further...he referred to the Palestinians as an "invented people".

Here's a good source on that:

It's a contest now, to see who can best suck up to and best serve our Israeli overlords. Helen Thomas actually understated the problem.

Not to be outdone by anyone, when it comes to worshiping Jews and Judaism, Mitt the Mormon said: "And, therefore, before I made a statement of that nature, I'd get on the phone to my friend, Bibi Netanyahu and say, would it help if I say this? What would you like me to do? Let's work together because we're partners." (End quote).

Mitt and the gaggle of GOP hopefuls think that the US Presidency is a vassal position to the Israeli Prime Minister. This is beyond ludicrous, this is treasonous. Git a rope!

The Israelis would never tolerate foreign meddling in their internal affairs at this level; but we Americans are supposed to kow tow to our Israeli overlords...or be branded as neo-Nazis and anti-Semites.

If the American Founders could witness this, they would round up these American traitors, strip them of their US citizenship and then ship them off to the Jewish State, on a one way trip.

BTW, the Biblical Hebrews never had a modern nation state either...a short-lived loose confederation of Jewish theocracies is all the at the "Jewish Kingdom" ever was. The statute of limitations for restoring ancient theocracies ran out centuries ago....Uncle Sam didn't get the memo.

Since all the native peoples of North and South America never had formed modern nation states, in pre-Columbian times; are we to conclude that the American "Indians" are an "invented people" too?

I think that Newt Gingrich is an "invented person"; therefore we can justify destroying him; just like the Jews rationalize destroying the natives of Palestine.

I also left this comment on that board:

Are the Jews an "invented people"? Since it is possible, but not encouraged, to become a Jew, through a conversion process, then being "Jewish" is a religious designation, not an ethnic designation. Sammy Davis Jr. was a Jew.

In other words, being Jewish is a matter of faith, not race...being a Jew is therefore like being a Catholic, or a Protestant. Catholics, for example, are not considered a "people", they are a faith community....Jews are not a "people", they are a faith community.

The Jewish People and the Jewish State are simply myths and fabrications....the Jews are an invented people...therefore we can destroy them with impunity...according to Newt's unhinged philosophy.

0-caliber is one thing. Expressed by GW Bush and now Rick Perry.
Good looking men but dumb and intellectually vacant.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 6:22

Here's the URL for a Washington Post article about Newt's "invented people" remark:

There is a videp clip on that page....check out Newt talking to a Yarmulke-wearing Jewish reporter for the Jewish Channel...what a friggin' sphincter licker this Newt guy is....again Helen Thomas warned us about this.

If AIPAC, JINSA, NORPAC, JACPAC and the COPOMAJO throw their support behind the GOP candidate, then Obama is toast....Newt is well-liked by the Israelis, Obama is held in general contempt there.

A state outside our union of American states, a state that pays no US taxation, will probably decide who will win the US Presidency in 2012...remember, Citizens United now allows foreign donors to flood our system with unlimited cash....Newt is unashamedly signaling to the Israelis his intention, if elected POTUS, to be a vassal to the Israeli PM.

Git a rope!

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 6:35

Darge, good hair often covers a numb skull...Reagan had excellent hair...he operated on auto-pilot for most of his Presidency...handlers masked his growing senility...Bush the Elder, Reagan's VP, called the shots, Cheney style. Republicans are good hair voters...they like a candidate who looks "Presidential"....they realize that when a GOP President is in office, he's just a figurehead...big business runs the show, behind the scenes....and that's the way, uh huh, uh huh, they like it...uh huh, uh huh.

Of course, the Democratic candidates seem to also have great hair too....remember John Edwards infamous $600 haircut aboard the private jet? Symbolism trumps substance.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 6:36

Good morning, Bfra.

By: dargent7 on 12/12/11 at 6:53

L'ner: speaking of senility...it was Clinton who had the $200. haircut aboard Air Force One by Christoffe (the magnificant). Edwards got the $400. ones on dry land.
Your quote of $600. covers the two haircuts, different heads.
Myself, I go to Super Cuts w/ fake ID's and ask for the military discount, Peta, senior discounts for $8.95.

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 6:59

Good morning Loner - Daughter in Albany this AM, anything I need to warn her about? LOL

By: dargent7 on 12/12/11 at 7:58

Perry didn't know there were 9 Supreme Court justices. Said there were 8. Couldn't pronounce Sotomeyer.
Romney has a $10k bet w/ Perry about something.
Gingrich says his 3 affairs were simply, "mistakes". Wife #3 sitting in the front row is, "a mistake". Bet he slept on the coach, if he could fit on it.
All three are idiots.
Obama's interview on "60 Minutes" was great. He's smarter than all 3 put together.

By: Kosh III on 12/12/11 at 8:08

May Town should not have been built, the land should not be developed. TSU should get the land it was promised.
A substantial portion of this property was underwater in the flood last year, just look at the flood map from Metro here:

Let's concentrate on lowering the vacancy rate for downtown, MetroCenter, and various other locations such as the many vacant commerical buildings on hundreds of acres along Myatt Drive in Madison or in Rayon City and Old Hickory.

By: BigPapa on 12/12/11 at 9:25

"TSU should get the land it was promised."

I think it's funny how when Nashville politicians want to complete a big project they trot out poor ol' TSU. It's like it gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want because to be against the project makes you against TSU (which is kind racist, isn't it?)

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 10:20

The traffic in Albany is terrific, Bfra...she already knows that...lots of good radio stations...the pizza is good....no need to warn her about me...I'm back home...on the Erie Canal, in Monroe County.

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 10:27

Loner - Thanks and she loves pizza.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 10:29

The TSU offer was made by a private developer of May Town to get the locale councilman on board and not the government. When building the Titan Stadium TSU was used as by then Mayor Bredesen enticement to get the black vote.

“I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words.”
~Newt Gingrich, advocating for hateful rhetoric and smearing opponents with lies.

By: govskeptic on 12/12/11 at 10:38

Captain is exactly right on the point made. As to this question, the taxpayers
should ask that developers requesting this large a project put up substantial
dollars for all the staff time required of the Planning Commission as well as
the Commission's time, whether it's win or lose. The Commission should be
scolded for all the leniency given toward this group for an entire series of
hearings. Large shouldn't mean lots of special privileges.

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 10:55

Question, dargent7:

How can you be legally elected to an office if you aren't legally eligible to hold that office? You need to go back to studying the Constitution and the laws of 1961 and find out what a "natural born citizen" is. And 'Barack Hussein Obama' isn't one of them.

A natural born citizen naturally has only one nation they want to loyally serve. Barack Obama has shown, time and again, his loyalty to Kenya and his disregard to the USA.

I still highly question his even being born in Hawaii. If he was, why all of a sudden, could he show a birth certificate he had claimed for years he couldn't show? It is an obvious fake because in 1961 the race of black people was known worldwide as Negro. When did African (as shown on his "birth certificate") become a race? It's only a continent.

To be such a supposed scholar, he sure has shown his ignorance.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 11:24

The Planning Commission is voluntary and The Planning Staff are paid to study and recommend to the Commission if a play is recommended for the area or not. I think that the Planning staff had recommended against the site, because one; it was not in the sub-area plan and two it was spot zoning. I am not sure is what I just posted is all of the reason.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 11:32

I do not think much of yogiman who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.
Abraham Lincoln

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 11:55

Just think; by this time next year it will be proven which of us is the biggest damned idiots on this site. Wanna bet which one it will be?

Unlike Mitt Romney, I won't bet ten thousand bucks, but I'll bet you a dollar to a donut. Wanna bet?

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 12:12

yogi - I don't know what rock your head has been under all your life, but lots of people from here and Africa refer to people from Africa as being African. Especially before the Afro-American was being used. Snails & bugs under that rock, don't know this.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 12:42

I f we can describe Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Thais, Koreans and Phillipinos as "Asians", we ought to be allowed the leeway to describe a person who appears to be a member of the "Negro race" as an African....or not?

I mean, we do not, as a general rule, mean any offense when we use terms like "an Asian guy", or an "Asian-looking guy" when describing someone, you do have to have some usable descriptive terms....right?

Black folks call us white folks...we call them black folks....there's no offense there....we are not white and they are not black; but we have to have some usable terms...for when the authorities question us, I suppose.

Can't we all just get along?

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 12:56

Loner - I was relating my comment to yogi's claim about African being used on Obama's BC. He claims that term was never used for people from Africa.

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 1:00

I don't know how old you are, but in 1961, the people of the black race were known as Negroes.
I don't know what race word they used in Africa.

The name Afro-American didn't go into effect until after the Civil Rights bill was passed in 1964. That name was used a few years and changed to simplify their race to Afra-American emulating African-American. It will be good when they all become simple Americans.

Agreed, Loner, the times have changed. Many new words have been brought into our language. We can always back up ten yards and punt.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 1:02

The Confederate Constitution uses the term"African Negro" several times...seems like Yogi ought to remember that...he served with General Lee.

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 1:22

Naw, Loner,

Robert was before my time. He'd done got the hell beat out of his team before I was born.

Now, I'm fighting for my team. I call us True Americans. Wanna join? You can join the temporary second team.

All I can remember is what was going on in my lifetime and what names were used. The wording in the Confederate Constitution regarding race and what was used in the language was different, just like it is today.

By: Loner on 12/12/11 at 1:26

Yep...I gotta go..it's protest Monday...have sign...will travel. See ya later tonight on this site?

Loner out.

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 1:27

I believe the wording "African Negro" was used in the Confederate Constitution because that was the continent where the slaves were captured before they were brought here. Was there any "Africans" on any other continents back in "them days"?

By: Kosh III on 12/12/11 at 2:02

"Was there any "Africans" on any other continents back in "them days"?

Far more Africans were captured and exported to Brazil than in all the rest of the Western Hemisphere combined, so yes.

Plus racial terms and situations were different in Hawai'i. I'd bet Yogi could be called a "haole" and not have a clue.

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 2:07

yogi doesn't have a clue about what day it is or the time! I was wrong, he must still have his head under a rock.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 3:59

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 11:55
Just think; by this time next year it will be proven which of us is the biggest damned idiots on this site. Wanna bet which one it will be?

We don’t have to wait until next yogi. The answer is you are the biggest damned idiots on any site.

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 4:00

Sorry you couldn't read what I was writing, Kosh III. I was referring to Africa as the continent where slave were captured and taken to various nations on the African continent as well as other continents to be sold as slaves.

I know times have changed and black people are now being born on all continents and in all nations, but during the time of the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries, the only black people not born on the continent of Africa were children of slaves.

Did you have a different history course than I?

By: yogiman on 12/12/11 at 4:04

Hang on to your "answer", dumba.., let's see who is correct next year.

Don't forget, I like chocolate covered donuts.

I don't know how old you are, but in 1961, the people of the black race were known as Negroes.

It does not matter what time period in history or the future, yogi is the biggest damn old fool.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 4:15

If Obama is still President or Newt Ginrich is Persident, yoig will still be the biggest idiot.

By: bfra on 12/12/11 at 5:14

yogi - Did you have a different history course than I?
NO! Guess you are the only one that slept thru History class.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/12/11 at 5:22
