Up for Debate: Metro's 'budget kickoff'

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:35am

What do you think about Metro Finance Director Rich Riebeling's request of department heads to explore the impact of 2 percent budget cuts? What do you think of potential impact Metro pensions, property taxes?

So little of what happens nationally actually affects our daily lives it's silly to get on here and act like there's a HUGE difference in whether a D or an R are sitting in the white house is just a waste of time.

Things like the City buying up the East Bank so they can give it to some millionaires, or whether they ask for property tax increases, or fire the Dir of Schools, tear up a road, re-zone, etc.. all of that WILL affect you and how you live your daily life, what school your kid will go to, who will teach them, etc..

It's much more important than if a rich douche from the GOP is in the WH, or a pretending- to- not- be- rich douche from the Dems are there.

Good one, Cap'n...is that original?

Thanks for the reply, Ben. Trouble is, Obama is not in control of much...the War Super Lobby crafted the NDAA...as it always has since 1949....and it is those folks, not the POTUS or Congress who are writing the bills and crafting the policies that will advance their selfish agenda.

Papa is right, Democrat or Republican makes little difference...they are all on the take.

It doesn’t matter if you are right or left, we all hate Libertarians. Just kidding BigPapa. ;-)

So a cleric of the jock strap religion walks into a gay bar...

Oh wait...that's everyday. ;)

Can someone show me where the Health Reform closes all private health and forces it into a socialist system? I'm 99% sure there is no govt option and only requires us to buy private health insurance....and if you don't...there is a non-existent penalty.

Wait...feeding troll....sorry.

Actually, I used the term "Jock Strap City"...Cap'n Nemo added the "religion" part.

I like it...the Jock Strap Faith...a non-sectarian, playing-field-oriented faith....a religion whose dogma is rulebook based...and subject to further review....a faith community that drinks beer, eats pizza, buys trucks and idolizes sports figures....the Jock Strap Religion...JSR.

Naturally, Sunday is a holy day for those of the JSR faith.

JVH...it's not just a "gay bar"...it's "a gay piano bar"...the piano aspect adds class to the crass, no?

The running gag is not meant to be homophobic, IMO, or anti-GLBT...it's just our silly attempt to highlight the silliness of that which is silly.

Well, I gotta run...but before I go, I'd like to leave a post here that I left on the Washington Post site that I cited earlier....last rant of the day:

12:57 PM EST
The 2012 NDAA was crafted by the War Super Lobby, a tripartite consortium of special interest lobbies whose selfish interests overlap in the Middle East region. These three lobbies are Defense, Israel and Energy, acronym DIE.

While some may target the Defense and Energy lobbies for criticism, few dare to criticize the Israel lobby.

Although it is a state outside our union of American states, Israel can routinely rely on near unanimous US Congressional Representation.... without US Taxation. Representation without taxation? How do they do it?

Here are the ugly details on the legal bribery:

Ever wonder why Senator Kirk, the newly elected Senator from IL, championed the idea behind crippling oil-based sanctions against Iran? Mark Kirk, sponsor of the recent sanctions received $1,023,929 from the pro-Israel lobby, according to the source cited.

Maybe $1,023,929 in the form of a campaign "donation" is no big deal in Washington these days.

I think that the Israelis bought themselves a nice young Republican US Senator for a little over a million dollars...that's a steal.

Senator Kirk occupies President Obama's old Senate seat....go figure.

Sorry I missed the piano part Loner!

And yeah I totally get the joke...got god's sake...I'm gay =) So who more qualified among us here to tell the joke?! =)
