Up for Debate: Navigating with an electoral map

Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12:46am

What do you make of all the electoral map interpretations out there, and specifically the uproar over Nate Silver and his numbers?

I have my own electoral map. Though I yearn for a victory for. Mitt Romney my electoral map indicates a solid victory for Barack Hussein Obama.

I think Romney will win my states of Tenn and Florida but will lose in very close races in Penn Ohio Nevada Iowa Virgina New Hampshire
There are just too many Americans making less than 60,000 dollars a year and too many people dependent on the tax dollars of the people they envy and hate.

OBAMA on November 7th.

A bad day for productive America and a bad future for all Americans. Those that know and those that do not know.

By: yogiman on 11/2/12 at 5:22

Everything I saw on TV last night showed Romney taking over. But if the American people continue to be willing to vote for someone who refuses to identify themselves, they will deserve what they get.

Too much evidence is coming out on his refusal to action on the Benghazi incident.

By: govskeptic on 11/2/12 at 5:32

Maps, polls, slogans, photo ops, goofy talking heads pretending they are
experts on so many subjects, and young college grads presented to us
on the TV screens as experts in their field and laughably we should be
listening to what they have to say on national and international issues?
My gosh, it's been the very silliest of Reality Shows for 2 yrs now. 4 more days!

By: gdiafante on 11/2/12 at 5:38

I agree with gov. I'm tuning everything out until next Wednesday. It's just too much.

Raspy, I'm beginning to think you're really an Obama supporter. I'll play devil's advocate and say you're wrong. I think Romney will win in a squeaker like 2000, which should send the lefty conspiracy nuts into orbit.

But hey, we have to have conspiracy turnover every now and then...the right wing nuts have been holding the bag for four long years...

Good morning, Nashville.

Nate Silver is on the Times' payroll due to the Helen Thomas effect. The GOP should respect that. Maybe they have not thought it all through yet.

The Electoral College insure that states rights are paramount...human rights are actually irrelevant...we have Democracy Lite, not the full-strength stuff...and the candidates, the parties, the donors and the media are very happy with this set-up...it makes their jobs easier and much more profitable....follow the money...it's all about the money, stupid.

How can a nation as polarized, bankrupt and corrupt as ours continue to lead the free world?

By: Loner on 11/2/12 at 6:03

I plan on voting for the Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico....has has zero chance of winning, of course...my hope is that if enough voters in the solidly-colored red & blue states vote for a third-party candidate, the Dems will win the EC count, but the GOP will win the popular vote...that's the only way that EC reform will ever happen...both parties have to be burned by the flawed system before serious reform will take place....even then the corruption is so pervasive and deep that reform might still be avoided....it's all about the money....the Founders would be extremely dismayed to witness this degraded system.

By: Rasputin72 on 11/2/12 at 6:16

Gdiafante..........No,I am not a closet Obama supporter. I am a realist who in order to survive and hopefully thrive must each day evaluate and accept the realities of a nation gone mad.

"These are the best of times and the worst of tmes."for individuals in this country.

By: gdiafante on 11/2/12 at 6:21

How can a nation as polarized, bankrupt and corrupt as ours continue to lead the free world?

This should be the discussion question of the day. I believe it's because we have to. In spite of ourselves, the rest of the world is dependent upon our stability.

The global implications of our system collapsing, be it political or economical, is too much. The stress on the global economy would be catastrophic.

The real miracle is that despite being bankrupt, devoid of leadership and completely divided politically, does anyone really harbor thoughts what we're about to dissolve? Maybe we're just, as a society, overly dramatic. Who knows.

By: bfra on 11/2/12 at 6:54

gdiafante - Raspy is a closet poster, jealous & envious of everybody that is what he wants to be. He puts all of his dreams on this board & convinces himself, someone believes him

By: Loner on 11/2/12 at 7:42

Thank you, Gd, for the accolades...you wrote, "The real miracle is that despite being bankrupt, devoid of leadership and completely divided politically, does anyone really harbor thoughts what we're about to dissolve? Maybe we're just, as a society, overly dramatic."

It is a miracle, I suppose. I reckon that, in spite of how bad things are here, they are worse "over there". ...so, relatively speaking, we are still number one...for now anyway.

If, however, the expanding holy wars go nuclear...and that is a distinct possibility...things could rapidly deteriorate here too....once the nukes start flying, all conventional wisdom will suddenly become obsolete...a new paradigm of survival would trump everything....the states might head for the exits, if Washington, DC were obliterated.....when this craziness finally explodes in a climactic nuclear exchange, I hope to be long gone....you younger folks may face unprecedented hardships...real hard times....real despair.

Then, everyone will know just how much Holy Wars Suck.

gdia, Rasputin is a closet poor buffoonery.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/2/12 at 7:51

gdia talks of the Second of Rome. I think he could be right on the money. To bad that money won't be worth any thing after the fall.

By: gdiafante on 11/2/12 at 7:51

I'm not a big believer in the possibility of nuclear exchange. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, just that it's unlikely, just as a large asteroid could hit the Earth but it's not likely.

What's much more plausible is a small nuclear detonation from a terrorist, or to sabotage a nuclear power plant. I fear that more than universal armageddon.

Now, I agree with the part about cutting the head and the body dies...If a terrorist were to unleash a surprise nuclear attack in D.C., well all bets are off.

The truly disconcerting part is that if we can think it, so can they.

By: yogiman on 11/2/12 at 7:58

Well, dumba$$, you call Rasputin72 a closet poor buffoonery. I hate to tell you this, but you're an open door idiot.

It's fascinating you and your fellow posters can say so much negative crap about others when you don't even know them. Amazing ignorance, isn't it?

Before I click, I have to point out (hilariously) the irony of yogi's last post of which he is so completely oblivious...lol

[click] ..!.

By: Loner on 11/2/12 at 8:08

I hope and pray that my doomsday forecast is incorrect...I hope that cooler heads will prevail. But the religious fanaticism seems to be growing.

I think that the possibility of a major nuclear exchange is much more likely than the possibility of a large asteroid striking the earth in the next one hundred years. Here's why:

China and Russia are trading partners with Iran and they are not going to sit idly by if Israel resorts to using its nukes on Iran, if Iran should retaliate effectively against an IDF first-strike. Israel is threatening to use force next spring or summer.

And we should not forget the nexus between Iran and Syria and the fact that Russia has a naval base in Syria...a rather vital one.

And nuclear-armed Pakistan, although mainly Sunni, not Shia, might forget the internecine warfare for a while and come to the aid of their fellow Muslims.

If Israel were to get nuked, the US would nuke the nukers and then all hell would break loose rapidly....everybody would use their doomsday plan....like the grand finale at a global fireworks display....in short: Armageddon Fulfilled.

After reading gdia’s post and against my better judgment I went back and read yogi's post.

What do you expect from a moron? He, he, he, he, he.

By: yogiman on 11/2/12 at 8:28

If your man Barry usurps that office again, which won't surprise me, he will not back Israel when they are attached. And it seems apparent he is a good friend of Russia.

He has let it be known he supports a one world government. I imagine he believes he will be the one world leader.

What I find disgusting is our congress let him usurp the office without question and haven't said one word to him about it. It looks like the US has reached it's "over the bluff" fatality.

Loner - Those horseballs are getting too big to flush. Guess I will go back to (click) to get rid of them.

By: yogiman on 11/2/12 at 9:19

Y'all have fun for a couple of hours, children. I've got to go buy me another gun and ammunition before Barry orders congress to accept his EO on his the elimination of our 2nd Amendment next Wednesday.

I'd like to know thoughts on NYC going on with the marathon while so many people are suffering due to the hurricane. I heard a first hand account that people who have been displaced to hotels that are now being displaced again because those hotels have been booked for the marathon. That's ridiculous.

By: bfra on 11/2/12 at 9:23

By: gdiafante on 11/2/12 at 9:23

Anyone think Fox is reporting this one?

By: bfra on 11/2/12 at 9:30

gdiafante - Of course not, Fox doesn't deal in facts.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/2/12 at 11:10

Then it is good to meet you Adman.

By: judyboodo@yahoo.com on 11/2/12 at 12:27

I'll weigh in on the marathon gdia, I think it's unconscionable to hold an event as large and resource sapping as that considering what has happed there. Bloomberg has showed something, bad judgment, bad common sense, bad empathy I don't know what is but it's bad. This is the kind of behavior that people associate with Republicans. Strange that he should have just come out supporting Obama.

By: Loner on 11/2/12 at 12:33

Bloomberg runs a nanny state government..a .nanny state can easily become a bananny state....when the top banana is a little whacky...or on the take.....with Bloomie, it's whackiness, IMO.

Staging a marathon in NYC at this time is definitely whacky...but it must make complete sense to somebody....follow the money.

By: Loner on 11/2/12 at 1:06

Bloomberg lists himself as an "I", not an "R" or a "D"...some believe the "I" stands for Independent...but it really stands for Israel.....when Bloomie ran for his 3rd term, he took out full-page ads in the Jerusalem Post in which he called NYC, "The world's largest Jewish city"....all the non-Jews in New York City can now start to feel like the Palestinians...they are the wrong ethnicity...they'll have to be relocated? Will we be seeing checkpoints in NYC? Bloomberg ought to be deported to his ancestral "homeland", in my humble opinion.....the guy is trying to claim the Big Apple as Israeli Occupied Territory...RAUS!!

By: pswindle on 11/3/12 at 11:13

Poor Mitt's silver lies are coming out of his very rehearsed mouth. The lastest lie about the Jeep production in Ohio has backfired so badly that he does not know what to do, but to laugh his sissy laugh.

By: yogiman on 11/3/12 at 2:32

Correct me if I'm wrong, pswindle, but I read where FIAT made that statement, which I understood was to Romney. So what is FIAT's situation in that matter?

By: bfra on 11/4/12 at 7:30

Do you not know what the word "may" means? Of course not, with no brain, you can't read!

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 8:16

I'm sure glad my intelligence doesn't equal yours, bfra. I'd feel so ignorant I wouldn't even know how to think like you. That is, of course, if you knew what logical thinking is.

By: bfra on 11/4/12 at 8:26

And the ill bred, vile mouthed, poor excuse for a pile of human flesh adds more BS.

By: parnell3rd on 11/4/12 at 9:14

I really enjoy how the City Paper can "make up" issues while ignoring real news.
And then there are the liberal internet tough guys who call people names, who then get uspest when they get called names.
You all watch the networks in the pockets of liberal demoNcrats, drool, and drink the kool-aide.

By: parnell3rd on 11/4/12 at 9:20

Pres. Obama called the SEALs and they got bin laden.
When the SEALs called Pres. Obama (watching a live feed) they got denied and they DIED!

President Obama has instructed our General's to not give Ammunition to the Marines standing guard at all of our embassies around the world. How many more American's have to die because of his ignorance?
Oh, you all do not care do you? As long as your not affected.

In 2008 you voted for Obama to prove your not a racist. Who are you going to vote for to prove your an American, not an idiot!

By: bfra on 11/4/12 at 10:28

p3 - More lies from the troll section!

By: bfra on 11/4/12 at 11:39

What is it with trolls? They read or pretend to read an article, then ignore or omit key words & relay what they want it to say. Both of p3's tales have been rebutted before & then he continues to post the lies again.

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 12:25

Apparently only you who don't know an issue are abused by your ignorance. You and your "smart six" fellow allies have been calling me a racist for months now, yet the reason you and your fellow "six" have refused to say why you voted for "Obama". Therefore, the only reason I can come up with is you voted for him because of your racism because you surely didn't know who he was.

You have been ridiculing me from the beginning even though I have given absolute evidence (assuming his autobiography was accurate). You debated that but none of you have offered me any evidence in Barry's favor. Why? I can only presume you don't have any.

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 12:31

Question, bfra,

You and your fellow posters call me and some others "trolls". So what's the difference between you and your fellow "posters" and we "trolls".

If we are "trolls because you do not agree with us, what makes you to us? Unofficial experts, perhaps?

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 12:36

A little tidbit of dumb information for you Obama admirers. 444 retired high ranking service officers (Admirals and Generals) have given their support to Romney, but only 5 have sided with Barry. And it was determined many more would side with Romney but they are still in service and can't negate their CIC.

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 12:57

I know it's a dumb question, bfra,

But can you explain the difference between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama (if that's his name) when Obama asked the people in one of his campaign programs to vote for "revenge"? What is he trying to revenge for?

Shouldn't Romney consider asking his supporters to vote for revenge for him instead or stupidly asking them to vote for God?

Just wondering, what's best to vote for; revenge or God?

By: bfra on 11/4/12 at 1:04

(Flush all troll bunk)

By: yogiman on 11/4/12 at 2:25

Can''t you come up with any common sense logic, bfra? Are you just saying you don't understand common sense so you have to take another logic and "flush" it?

The only logic you and your fellow trollers can come up with is "flush" the commode. How about trying to correct someone with your "intelligence" if you have any?

I've constantly asked for information when you began refuting me from the beginning but none of you have ever even give me an answer. Why, because you don't have one?

By: FaceBook:Emmett... on 11/5/12 at 8:37

BoyObaMao's having to fight for Minnesota - a state so reliably Democrat that neither party ever spends any money on it. That is all one needs to know. He's over.
