Up for Debate: Obama warns Syrian president

Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1:14am

President Barack Obama issued a warning to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against allowing the use of chemical weapons against rebel forces, threatening U.S. action. What do you think about not only the warning but also the prospect of Syria using chemical weapons?

If a website bills itself as, " the voice of America", it has a duty to reaffirm free speech, not to censor it, based upon a lengthy list of exceptions to the general rule.

The American Declaration was not legal, nor was it cordial or nice.

The British crown considered the document to be illegal, threatening, harassing, hate speech from a bunch of ingrate colonials. The voice of America was more unfettered by niceties back then.

Today, the voices of Americans are routinely censored, monitored, moderated, edited, filtered, banned and/or deleted...for our own good, of course....and for the Cheeeldren!

Do a little thinking, dumba$$. What has happened in countries where the Muslims have moved in a took over? Of course if you're a fellow Muslim you can support them.

Here is the Voice of America article and comment board link...seems to be the same as the one that failed, but, here goes:

You're point isn't lost on me, I just dismiss it. You seem to be on a crusade to troll other sites. That doesn't seem like testing the bounds of free speech to me.

My point is that you have the right to post whatever you want but you are not immune to the consequences.

Whatever.

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 8:43

I agree with you on the NCP allowing us to "speak for ourselves", Loner. And I'm speaking for myself and as the old saying goes: Take it or leave it.

And another old saying goes: Time will tell. I hope I'm still around when you all get the hell knocked out of you. I can laugh like hell then.

And by the way, when you come to Music City I'll let you camp out in my lower bottom rent free if you'll teach me a little more about using this machine. It isn't as easy as learning to drive a car.

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 8:43

Loner, the first amendment protects you from your speech being limited by the government. It's not a violation of the first amendment if the government is not the one limiting your speech. Jeez...

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 8:50

Loner it said the page did not exist, but I got it by google.

By: Loner on 12/4/12 at 8:53

The link posted in my 8:37 is good...the headline is: "NATO: Syria Chemical Weapons Warrant Immediate International Reaction ". A photo of our pant-suited Sec of State and the NATO Sec General graces the page.

For those who give a rat, my posts to the VoA did not violate their Terms Of Service, IMO, if they are banned, it is for reasons other than those stated in their TOS...and that should alarm any taxpayer...after all the Voice of America is an expensive, obsolete, federally-sponsored and taxpayer-funded enterprise.

According to Wiki: the Voice of America (VOA) is the official external broadcast institution of the United States federal government."

If Big Bird has to walk the plank, to save wasteful tax dollars, the Voice of America should too.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 8:55

Loner. And I'm speaking for myself and as the old saying goes: Take it or leave it.

As far as I am concern I don’t want it. You just keep pissing it out.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 8:57

Time will tell.

Time has told you plenty in 82 years yogi, you just don’t hear.

By: Moonglow1 on 12/4/12 at 8:59

Moonglow1: Obama should also be warning Israel to stop expanding settlements.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 8:59

Look at my 8:55 post it looks as if I am talking to Loner. It was for yogi.

I hope there was no confusion.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 9:00

So true Moonglow1

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 9:01

So, gdiafante, the Constitution gives you free speech but does the UN? I understand the UN is in the process of gaining control over the Internet. They can only be allowed to do it with the US approval.

And I also understand your man Barry is in the process of gaining gun control over us through the UN.

I know the people of today aren't like the people of yesteryear but that may be the cause of the next rebellion. I understand gun sales and ammunition are overwhelming today.

By: Loner on 12/4/12 at 9:01

With a left click, I highlighted the URL that I posted at 8:37...then I did a right click on the highlighted URL...I then left clicked on the "open link" option...it took me right to the VoA page.

If free speech is stifled at the Voice of America, a taxpayer-funded bastion of American values, it is a legitimate cause for concern, whether Gd or anyone else wants to admit it or not...I stand by my posts

Thanks for the offer of lodging, Yogi...if Rasp sends us each a Christmas check for a thousand dollars...and if the check does not bounce...I may take a trip to Nashville...we'll have a brewski or two.

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 9:05

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/4/12 at 9:06

yogi, I already debunked the whole "Obama is gaining gun control through the U.N." conspiracy. I posted it a couple of weeks ago. Did you forget?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/4/12 at 9:09

http://www.un.org/disarmament/convarms/ArmsTradeTreaty/

Here is the Arms Trade Treaty. It has nothing to do with the restruction or sales of guns within the United States. It is designed to combate the illicit international trade of arms by tightening regulations and setting international standards.

By: Loner on 12/4/12 at 9:12

Good point, Moonglow, I watched the network news last night...no mention of the extremely provocative move by the Israelis, to build 3,000 more illegal settler homes in East Jerusalem and the WB...especially in the E-1 district.

Netanyahu and his henchmen have sequestered the tax revenues that they collect from Palestinians for the PA's use. And now he has OK'd the E-1 project, which would split the West Bank into two disconnected parcels, further damning the 2-state solution that they claim to seek.

Europe is quite upset over this new move to squelch peace in Palestine...the Obama Administration is not all that upset by the move...the US taxpayers will continue to finance the unsettling, Jews-Only, "settlements". Anyone who complains is a "Jew-hater"...yeah, we know the script.

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 9:12

Don't want you to get me drinking again, Loner. I quit years ago. It might make me go back to my old "good ole boy" lifestyle. I'm happy with Bonnie and Clyde, Buster and Lucy. And throw in Tip, too. They can't argue back at me.

They just sit and look like they're wondering what the hell I'm talking about. That is until I tell them its time to eat. They understand every word I say then.

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 9:12

I went to their site and read the terms of use, Loner. It's in black and white. They have the right to set their terms and determine any violation. Again, not a 1st amendment issue. It's not rocket science.

Yogi, read the law and report back. Chop chop.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 9:23

Oh Blanket that is complicated for his feeble mine to understand. LOL

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/4/12 at 9:24

Yet he thinks he knows more than Constitutional scholars. Go figure. Being a dry drunk explains his meanness, though.

By: Loner on 12/4/12 at 9:25

Gd, did you actually read my posts here? The Voice of America is the official US government media organ....unwarranted censorship by an agency of the US federal government is indeed a free speech issue.

Sadly, the Voice of America is not the voice of America...these NCP boards are the true voice of America...and it is not a US-owned & operated media giant, like the VoA is. Time to pull the funding for that bloated, & tainted rag.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 9:26

Loner I followed 9:01 post and now my back is out. ;-)

By: Loner on 12/4/12 at 9:31

Sorry 'bout that, Cap'n....maybe you're doing it wrong....move your mouse across your desk's surface...don't hold the mouse out at eye-level and then lift and move your desk underneath the mouse, to move the cursor.

Where did Doctor Dover go?

Slack...Darge...are you(s) there?

I was getting caught up on the post of yesterday and to answer how Ratputin manage to get home, he took the Mega Bus. He left early Monday morning and arrive at his daddy's house early this morning.

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 9:47

unwarranted censorship by an agency of the US federal government is indeed a free speech issue.

The key word being unwarranted, Loner. The bottom line is that they have set the parameters for posting. As I said, free speech doesn't absolve you from the consequences of such speech.

If you think you've been wronged, by all means, seek judicial review. Then we'll see who's right.

Now, I think we've exhausted that line, don't you think?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 9:48

That must be it Loner, I was doing a yogi. LOL

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 9:51

Ok, didn't see that you changed the subject...

Technology has advanced and it's now too easy to alter photographs. I've seen some really good alterations, it's hard to discern to the undeducated eye. But, all they have to do is create enough reasonable doubt.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 9:59

So do think that photo altering is what is being done to yogi’s brain?

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 10:06

Denial is what's happening to yogi. He refuses to read the law that applies because it would force him to confront reality...which is that Obama has been elected and then re-elected. He can't come to terms with that.

By: bfra on 12/4/12 at 10:12

IMO - It doesn't really matter! yogi with his false claims against our President is lower than a pissant on this good Earth & since he has nothing better to do than change his diapers or feed the dogs, he tries for attention on this board.

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 10:33

B2,

So many "leaders" today want a one world government. And you can add Barry to that team. If you believe those 'leaders' are telling the truth just hang in there. I doubt if any of them will lie any worse than your man Barry. You'll find out sooner than you want unless you're in the One World Government with them. Or will that be a [Won] World Government?

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 10:40

You're right for once, dumba$$. I've learned a lot in my 82 years and I learned early when someone like you is throwing that BS at me it just goes in one ear and out the other. Sadly, you too often don't know what you're talking about.

But, admittedly, you still cause me an inquiry. Sometimes you post your sentence perfectly, but most of the time you can't spell a simple word or put two words together properly.

Does that just happen when you're off your mental aid popping pill medicine?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/4/12 at 10:41

yogi, the Arms Treaty doesn't mean what you think it means. Can you at least admit that much?

By: pswindle on 12/4/12 at 10:45

What war has President Obama gotten us in?

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 10:48

B2,

Look into the founding of the UN. Look into their original purpose. Look into your past as a child learning to walk. How did you get across the room after your first step? One step at a time, B2, one step at a time. And unless for a physical reason, you're still taking one step at a time.

The UN is now 'walking' to gain world control over "we the people". I'm either right or wrong and I hope the hell I'm wrong for the future of my grandchildren.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 10:49

I don’t see any evidence of a one world government, except for the rants of conspiracy freaks. You should go start a club for the weird people yogi and scare the hell out of each other.

Your post here shows the normal community just how silly you are.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 10:50

Now I have spent all the time I have for this Troll of Silly.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/4/12 at 10:52

yogi, you didn't answer my question. I have no patience for your conspiracy theory crap.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 10:55

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 10:40
You're right for once, dumba$$. I've learned a lot in my 82 years

I never said any such thing yogi. You are putting words into your head that is not there. You have never learned anything in 82 years.

By: bfra on 12/4/12 at 10:56

Blanket - yogi doesn't answer questions, because he can't. He just changes the subject back to his usual falsified BS.

By: gdiafante on 12/4/12 at 10:58

I'd say yogi is well on the way to meeting the criteria for paranoid schizophrenic...

-delusions (Obama was born in Kenya, supports one-world government, will repeal the 2nd amendment; government is Socialist, singling him out for persecution)

-anxiety (believes country is headed towards Communism, Socialism)

-Argumentativeness (see posts)

-Self importance (in his mind, he's Einstein, everyone else is wrong)

By: yogiman on 12/4/12 at 10:58

He hasn't gotten us into any "war", pswindle. He's just made attacks without congress' consent. A war has to be declared by congress, ya know.

What do you call his act on Libya, a war or conflict?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 11:02

yogi ask "What do you call his act on Libya, a war or conflict?"

It was the end of a dictator, moron.

By: bfra on 12/4/12 at 11:05

yogi - Is he such an exception in that office; it's okay for him to put us in war but not for Bush?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
Then why did you ask that question, dumbarse?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/4/12 at 11:06

Silly yogi's Lonely Conspiracy Club. LOL

It would match up the fearful of heart with likewise scary people.
